UPDATE!!!!!! The Downtown Y will be under construction tentatively for the next two years to expand and make it more accommodating to the growth of Nashville. Unfortunately, during this time my favorite amenities have been suspended the chapel, pool, sauna, and steam room. The temporary female locker room has relocated off the main wellness floor and is much smaller but doable. Group fitness rooms A and B have not been impacted however; the cycling studio has moved to a smaller space off the track on the fourth floor. Staff ensures that the facility stays clean and offers assistance on updates and changes as needed.

Downtown Rooftop pool! Woohoo. The pool is open at the YMCAs. I had a staycation in town so went to the pool. If you are driving and can't find parking, their lot is $5 a day or $9 a month. Not too shabby for downtown parking lot. Anyways, be sure to bring a towel or grab one from the locker room. I went on a Friday afternoon and it was pretty empty. We played our speaker (at a decent level to not interfere with others) and got into the pool. They are kid friendly as well.

To grind your teeth won't necessarily destroy them. To Nashville. Barbie likes when I work out in her downtown district, but this is not that. Best Y in Nashville. This is one of the most beautiful YMCA facilities I've ever seen. The locker room is sensational. It's a palace. It's like no other. I guess it's more comprable to the big one in Raleigh North Carolina but this one is even more impressive. The workout area is sensational. It looks like a monolith. I would absolutely love to work out here but the parking situation is tricky. Members pay $9 a month and they said they might be able to hook me up with free parking for a one-off but I had to pay quite a lot for the meter just to take a shower. They let me right into the facility without any trouble and I really appreciated that as well. I'm planning to work out here - probably - in a couple months so I'll give a better review then, but it deserves 5 stars for being such an amazing palace. Parking is terrible though so we'll see if they hook me up, if they do, I'll keep them at 5.

Today at the Y they are having a super sampler of all the classes they offer!

OK, I'm bumping up my stars for the Downtown Y because of the awesome event they had last Saturday. They offered a group exercise super sampler where they did 30 minute sample classes of everything they offer. How freaking genius!! Each of the instructors came in and did a preview of the classes they instruct, and I got to try out a really fun "dance it out" class with an instructor I had never had. Awesome!! I only wish I had more time that day to try out some other classes! I've never seen a Y do this, so it really made them stand out to me. You can't go wrong with any of their classes, I really enjoy everything this Y has to offer!

Stellar view of downtown while you do cardio

If they decide to reschedule any or all of your appointments, the management isn't good about entering them into the system. We were told we missed an appointment, when clearly the error was with the website/app not being changed properly. The swim coach texted me prior to our lesson, to say we missed our appointment and that she didn't have to squeeze us in somewhere else. She stated she has "things after work". My 5 year old was so upset because she wanted to swim and we were driving there to be there on time. At this point I'm done with this company. We will find a better program. Now let's discuss the actual lessons. This is not for kids who are comfortable in the water and need lessons to teach strokes. These coaches, spend lots of time having the kids blow bubbles in the water, go under water and other very basic things. I witnessed other lessons going on and there wasn't much actual swim instruction going on. My child had been learning freestyle in another program, prior to our move to this area, and this coach had to be told multiple times that my child needs help learning to breath on her side and kicking while doing the arms. We had one lesson where the coach didn't even get in the pool with my child. Instead she made her exit the pool and lay on the pool chairs so she could show her how to kick. The lesson program we came from (in Kentucky) was very organized and had lists that each level was working on. They had a program that each coach followed and you could see the kids advancing. Worden Aquatics did not have anything organized about these lessons. For $55 a lesson, I expected a lot more. I expected our lessons to not be moved around so much. I expected the coach to teach at the level my child needs. I also expected management to communicate properly with clients and actually book the lessons they say they will book. Instead you end up paying for lessons where the child isn't advancing in their skills or they botch the lesson time and refuse to reschedule or refund.

There are moments that tug at your heart, but what would be even harder is knowing my child could struggle in the water when I'm not there to help. The potential consequences of that are unthinkable, and that's exactly why this program is so important. Our daughter has only been in lessons for a week and a half, and the progress she's made is incredible. She's very strong-willed, and Mr. Sweetman has done an amazing job of being firm while also being kind, patient, and encouraging. The kids quickly learn that he and his team have high expectations, but they also know they are genuinely cared for and loved. Our son also completed this program over several summers, and the transformation has been amazing. He used to refuse to even put his face in the water, and now he's incredibly confident, loves swimming, and is so comfortable in the water. We are beyond grateful for Mr. Sweetman and his entire team. They pour so much time, patience, and heart into teaching these kids life-saving skills, and we couldn't recommend them more. Thank you for all you do for our family and so many others!

There are multiple instructors that keep an eye on the kids so that is reassuring.

Thank goodness we are Richland Country Club members who only have to be here for one month. They are also extremely inconsistent on their absurd rules. My 4 year old is just now getting comfortable jumping off the diving board but likes someone to be floating close by in the deep end to help her swim back to the side after jumping - well the blew on the whistle so aggressively AFTER she jumped in although I had been waiting for her to jump for about 3 minutes that she cried. What else did they think I was doing talking to her with words of encouragement down below ?! They have a beach entry toddler pool that I've never once seen anyone else in where I like to put a pool chair as my child plays. I've done this for about 5 days now and someone just came up to me and said they don't allow furniture in the pool... umm does a crummy plastic pool chair count as "furniture" ? Also, a few days ago it started thundering so they "shut the pool down" for 30 minutes. Well I left our pool bag out on a table not thinking it was completely necessary to pack all the way up and just used it as a break for a snack. Well after the first 30 minutes were up and there was still some distant thunder I decided we should just pack up and go home. So I walked back to the pool to grab our stuff and was again aggressively whistled at. It was embarrassing and angered me. For those of us that are new maybe you should explain that you need to pack up everything you had out by the pool when the guards here some mysterious thinner even though the sky is blue Only giving 2 stars because they have decent food for a less than decent PRIVATE swimming pool
