They had maybe 25 to 30 competitors. We recognized some from other competitions. The parking can be a little iffy but we were able to find free parking. There was also paid parking for $10 We purchased our tasting tickets online for a discount. Online sales are only available prior to the event. Overall it was a great experience and most of the chili was amazing. We especially liked the green chili's.

I was lucky enough to get 10 tickets and 2 free beers for RSVP'ing to the event, but otherwise you can purchase tickets at the ticket booth for as many tastes of chili as you'd like! All the booths set up down the street will give you samples of their chili in little ramekins that are equal to about 4 bites. KEEP YOUR SPOON! There are so many chili booths set up, we weren't able to try them all but it's really fun to see how each one represents themselves and the creativity in their names and style of chili! The beer options range from $4 for domestic, $6 for craft, and some booths offer shots of Fireball for $2 more. You are also welcome to purchase food from vendors selling their own food like tacos, chicken skewers, turkey legs, ice cream, etc. At the end you can leave a vote in the bucket of the person who's chili you think should win for the People's Choice Award chili. If you keep going down the street you can check out antique stores, gift shops, and lots of fun saloon style bars. It's a little over an hour drive from North Tahoe, but it's an enjoyable drive with mountain views pretty much the entire way!

Parking lots and streets were jammed and they were still coming as we left around 7pm Biggest complaint-- too many people think it's appropriate to bring dogs to a place where there is barely enough room to walk. Well, between May and the end of September that would be "Food Truck Friday" in Reno's Idlewild Park. Okay, it's not gourmet dining, but rather an "experience." Watching the parade of walking tattoos strolling between the trucks makes for some fun people watching for what is predominantly a younger crowd. And if you're okay with the outdoors, wrestling with a selection among so many decadent choices can be just as much fun. There's plenty of room to eat on the lawn or listen to music making usually something for everyone in this weekly early evening outdoor happening . Watching folks scarf down everything in their path here makes for a good argument for the connection between choice and obesity, but who can blame them with the enticing aromas about? And I've been as guilty as any. Once or twice a month, it's my fun, unhealthy junk food splurge though I include a healthy walk to and from to exercise the treats off. She said she will be here most days but is also planning for the cantaloupe festival and I think she said western supply. I had Jerry "lot guy" put in the order for me so it would be ready at my lunch time as I only get thirty minutes. It was ready as requested. I got biscuits and gravy which were good. I hope people come support her. She was very nice and there are lots of choices. She has paninis, hot dogs, lemonade, and more. She is in the home depot parking lot on galleria parkway.
