Let me start with the positives. I liked the spacious layout, and the cool artwork. There were plenty of seatings too. I also liked how loud the overhead music was...but sadly, it was elevator music. Very dated. If it was something a bit more contemporary (metro lounge?), it would have been way nicer. Now, the food! I ordered their Doza Ramen, which looked spicy from the pictures...but I ended up with a very mild broth, with hardly any red chile sauce or spice to it at all. I even asked if they can add more chili and/or spice to it, and the waitress basically said that's not possible (What?!? Of course you can!!). Anyway, she said I can add Siracha sauce. (???) Guess she assumed this was the first time I had ramen lol?!? The Pork Chashu was nice and tender, but very small portion...and a tiny portion of ground pork (of beef?) and mushroom as well. Just skimpy toppings all around...yet this bowl was priced 18 bucks. I also hated how they didn't even bother to split open the egg. Also, I wasn't a fan of their super-thin noodles either. Just look at how unappetizing this bowl looked! So basically, this ramen struck out on several accounts. Possibly the weakest ramen I've had in a restaurant in years?? I managed to down at least one third of it though. Then this Sampler Tempura. While the portion of plentiful, I thought the batter was weak...and well, some of the veggie tempura just tasted BAD. Especially the Brussel Sprouts (which I normally love) had this sour taste to it? I was also disappointed that they didn't include Broccoli in the mix. I was only able to eat half of this. Just not that good. I just can't sugarcoat it. I was not into their ramen or this sampler tempura. Both too mild...very bland. Also...they charge you an additional dollar if you use credit card. Something I don't recall seeing on the menu. Given such high ratings from Yelp, I had high hopes for this place...but I left scratching my head. I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon. read more

I was trying to figure out if there was a reason to not give this place 5 starts. Walk in and get greeted and seated immediately it was early in the day so pretty empty but the place was very clean and looked great. The art on the wall was very pretty and the lighting was perfect, and the person who sat us also took our order. We were there for lunch and since it was our first time needed a few extra minutes to figure out what we wanted. We went with 2 different lunch specials which gives you an appetizer and a sushi roll or ramen order. We chose one of each. For appetizers we got the Miso soup and the gyoza which is a deep fried win ton. Both very good and full of flavor. The entrees we got were the citrus roll and the spicy Tonkotsu ramen. Ok the citrus roll was amazing, crab salad, cucumber, avocado and topped with salmon with a this slice of lemon on top. So good and such a freshness when eating it. The spicy Tonkotsu is a pork base broth with spicy pork and corn. When eating the broth alone it does seem to be a bit spicy but all together with the noodles was delicious. We had a very nice dining experience here. The ambiance is nice. I especially love restaurants that have a special board. We ordered tuna tataki, hotate (scallop) nigiris, amaebi (sweet shrimp) and salmon roe nigiris. They were so succulent and tasty. The quality of the fish is definitely excellent. They do fry up the sweet shrimp heads for you and they're a really nice treat. Savory and crunchy. We also ordered crunchy roll and a few traditional rolls (seaweed on the outside). What a great addition to this part of town. Blakeney is a nice shopping center to stroll around and now you can finally get some good sushi/ramen. I've never seen such a beautiful veggie roll!! We went on an offline offer on a Wednesday evening. When we arrived we were some of the only people there, but as we dined more people arrived. We started with beer and sake and the edamame. I loved that the edamame was charred a bit, giving it extra depth of flavor. My husband ordered two sushi rolls and the rest of the table ordered ramen. The ramen came with A TON of noodles and I loved how jammy the eggs were. I just thought overall the ramen was lacking in flavor, especially the broth. Do not miss out on this little gem! We found this spot while out Christmas shopping. It was perfect after crazy holiday parking, shopping, and waiting in lines. It's calm with soothing music playing. The menu is not overwhelming but straight to the point. Sushi or ramen just like the sign says. They do have appetizers. We loved their edamame. They char it a bit and it was a nice surprise from the usual steamed version. The sushi was very fresh. We loved the ramen. We ordered the black garlic tonkotsu, spicy tonkotsu,and doza. All three were very good. My daughter said that the spicy ramen had just enough heat. The staff are extremely friendly and answered all of our questions. How this place has 5 stars is beyond me. Doza Sushi and Ramen might be the worst sushi restaurant I've ever been to. Absolutely do NOT go there. Within an hour of our first bites, my stomach started making noises. And within 1.5 hours, we were all vomiting. In case you need more details though, here's the rundown: The Brussels sprouts are basic. An uneven seasoning, fried, and served with spicy mayo, those were the best things we ate. The fried noodles were overcooked, and flavorless. Just greasy. The Pork buns were greasy and soggy and loaded with mayo - yet again somehow lacked flavor. The Black tonkotsu ramen was fine but lacked any depth. It was either a quickly made broth, or they watered it down after making. The fish is where things went south fast! Not a single piece of fish was fresh tasting. The Spicy Tuna Roll was disgusting. All 3 of us thought it was bad. Not just didn't taste good, but physically spoiled. The Bogi roll was the only mildly edible roll. The Queen tasted terrible. Like sweet and savory but not in a balanced way. The ChuToro nigiri was a special, but it was frozen. Texture was off. Flavor was super fishy. Literally spit it out. The Albacore Sashimi was also a big no. It had been frozen and was fishy in flavor. The Scallop sashimi was a generous portion, but again, not good. It was on a bed of lemon and overpowered the flavor, and then the lemon faded and was super fishy. And as a final disappointment, the "wasabi" was just dyed horseradish. So if you decide to try them out, despite my warning, proceed at your own risk. read more

The quality of the sushi is immaculate. Delicious. I went with the Omakase Plate roughly translating into trust the chef. That was the correct choice, the sushi chef prepared me one of the most delicious platters my taste buds have ever came across. Nigiri octopus, salmon, yellow fin tuna, tuna, the most decadent cuts, the chef was super precise with the cuts making sure to cut along the grain of the mosh to get that perfect melt in your mouth texture. Paired with their signature roll, an octopus salad and some sashimi including A5 WAGYU. Don't forget the Sake, I was lucky and came in on a Monday meaning $3 hot sake. This place is such a hidden gem. I just had the best sushi I've ever had anywhere. The sushi chef is amazing. beyond talented. the ramen noodle bowls are out of this world. so tasty and deliscious. This was a special occasion and although we always order sushi from Prime or Yama, we decided to try Doza because a friend recommended. Our bill was over $170 and the food was not good, at all. The ikura was dull orange-brown in color and the flavor was off. The (safer) traditional rolls were more rice than fish and not at all flavorful. Their signature rolls were SO incredibly disappointing. :-( We were shocked by the inferior quality of the food and sadly most of this meal ended up in the trash. Felt like a complete waste of money and especially disappointing that this was supposed to be a celebratory occasion. I can't recommend this place at all. read more

It has tuna, mackerel, hamachi, salmon and escolar. The basic average fish. On top of that, the only fish that was good was the tuna. I have had better salmon at sketchy places. The pieces were served with picked cucumber. Why?? The pickles ran into the flavor of the fish. The radish mixture was soggy and inedible. I also ordered the edamame and it was below average. The seared texture had oil residue and I didn't like that. My server was very nice and probably the only decent part of my visit. The decor is casual and I ate outside right next to a playground where children almost hit me on the head running on the cement barriers.
