Service was great and, as always, the food was great. I ordered my go-to dish, The Blaze. It did not disappoint. FYI, I ordered noodles and broth for a 3-year-old. Together, they were $10.50 + tax. That was surprising.

Got the garlic truffle ramen! Was a rainy day and this was the perfect dinner. There wasn't as much truffle flavor as I would've liked but nevertheless still great!

I got the Classic Ramen and it had a lot of flavor, especially having this smoky or burnt undertone to the broth which made it exquisite. The aftertaste is creamy and the pork helps bring it up. It comes with fewer pork slices than other ones I've tried in the area, but I enjoyed regardless. Staff was kind and checked in often, and the place had a clean slick modern vibe. More lighting on the corner tables would help since it felt relatively dark and shadowed while we ate at ours.

This is a chain we love! We know it's in other cities and yes, you can get it anywhere but this location is special! I really feel like the people who work here care and want you to have a good experience. I always get the Cajun ramen and I always forget to take a picture! This place is just as simple as it gets with ramen and it's consistent every time!

Was in the mood for something warm and cozy and silverlake hit the spot. Came with friends on their 1st time and they loveddd it. Great vibes, great service and good food was the best combination for an afternoon of giggling with the girls. Wasn't crowded around noon and perfect spot for a quick lunch

This place is right off Park Road, a short walk from most apartment complexes off of southline. There is bar seating and tables inside and outside. The service is friendly and they are very attentive if you're eating in (likewise for takeout but it's a quicker interaction). I got the blaze, their most popular ramen dish, with pork and medium-spicy. They do not play around with spice! Come prepared for authentic spice levels - not the "white people spicy" that seems to run rampant with Asian food in the area. It's also not spice without flavor - the broth is rich and creamy, the seasoned egg is ooey gooey, the pork is fatty and flavorful, the bean sprouts are crunchy and fresh, and the noodles are delicious. Highly recommend.

The food really hit the spot! Their apps are my favorite part. The gyoza are so crispy and I come solely for those. They have a great deal on the chicken bowl and the spicy sauce they use on the chicken is quite yummy, we always ask for extra. I am not the biggest ramen fan but I tried the Blaze. While it was good, I would rather have the chicken.

As a Californian, (and someone who has actually been to Silverlake) I thought I should add my review. Clean restaurant with good Ramen. The plates were displayed beautifully and the food itself was good. I wasn't a huge fan of the crispy rice under my spicy tuna (and the tuna wasn't very spicy without the jalapeño on top). I'd probably just stick to the Ramen, next time.

Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna (3/5): I liked the blend of hot rice cake and cold tuna. The crispy rice was pretty good, but the spicy tuna was just ok. Garlic Truffle Ramen (2/5): This is probably good for those who like mushrooms, but it was too mushroom-y/bitter for me.

Silverlake Ramen Ambience - 5.0 This is a small, easy to miss spot with very limited seating. If you are looking for comfort, this may not be the spot for you. It's a bit noisy due to the size. The counter seating literally faces a blank black wall. You can hear the kitchen on the other side but you can't see anything. Service - 7.0 Service is super fast. So fast that you often do t have time to ask for things like more water before they are gone again. That being said they were polite and helpful when you could catch them. Food - 6.5 Chicken Karaage - this was nice and crispy, though under seasoned. I didn't love the sauce it came with, compared to other places I've had this dish. Blaze Ramen with chicken - The creamy pork broth was tasty, but lacked a depth of flavor. The spice was simply hot, again not feeling like it was an integrated part of the dish. Noodles were a nice texture. This fell between a grocery store ramen and the other restaurant ramens for me. Creamy brocollini - The brocollini was well cooked, but the sesame sauce was extremely heavy on fish sauce. Pork belly Bao - also fair. The bao was pre-made and pasty. The pork belly could have used more sauce. Overall - 6.5 I was rather underwhelmed. I probably won't be back, but as always, I recommend people try for themselves as my tastebuds may be very different from yours.

Tonkotsu ramen at Silverlake Ramen, South End, Charlotte
    Bruce K.

Craving ramen on a cold evening, I chose Silverlake because they're in the dining rewards program so I not only had a delicious meal, I earned some AAdvantage miles. Hooray. Greeted and seated immediately, my waiter brought my menu and a glass of water. I chose the combo and it did not take very long at all. Both my creamy broccolini appetizer and the classic tonkotsu ramen arrived at the same time. Broccolini was delicious and while a little challenging with chopsticks, I managed to demolish it. Yummy! The ramen was next. Rich broth with a lovely slice of grilled pork on top (they also do impossible meats here!) with the soft boiled egg and plenty of perfectly al dente noodles. Yes, I drained the bowl down to the last drop. Fabulous. Next time, I think I'll try the chicken karaage bowl. Looked great at the next table. Blaze ramen

I looove love love the blaze ramen with pork, medium spicy, if you can't handle heat definitely get the mild. I've been hyperfixating on it while sick, I've had it three times this week. I'm honestly really sad today though because I paid for extra egg and got less pork? The past two times I've had it I've had two pieces of pork.. today added an egg for 2.50 !! and only got one piece, it's not like it was abnormally large or I'd understand :( I know its not that deep but if I'm paying 20 bucks for ramen I feel like the portions should be consistent, that's all. I was just disappointed, still gonna be delicious tho. The service is always nice too, maybe I just got lucky the other two times idk

We started with the pork gyoza, which were delivered quickly and were delicious. For our entrees, I had the Tonkotsu Black with added braised tofu, and my husband had the Spicy Tantan. I don't usually like eggs in my ramen (because they are never cooked enough), but Menya cooked theirs perfectly soft boiled, and I loved the flavor the egg added to the soup. Both soups had complex flavors, and we loved them. The tofu was great--thinly sliced and flavorful, if a bit salty--but I am not sure I'd need it again. My husband thought his soup was perfectly spicy. A note about parking - if you can park in the lot in front of the building, you scan a QR code, and open a parking time block. (I believe Menya paid for a 2-hour block.) You then enter the information on an iPad at the back of the restaurant to validate your parking and start the clock. It was easier than I expected, and I'd definitely use this parking service again. And if you can't get a spot in the lot in front of the building, you can park on the neighborhood streets just one or two blocks away. All told, it was a great meal for a reasonable cost. We'll definitely return!

I also liked how loud the overhead music was...but sadly, it was elevator music. Very dated. If it was something a bit more contemporary (metro lounge?), it would have been way nicer. Now, the food! I ordered their Doza Ramen, which looked spicy from the pictures...but I ended up with a very mild broth, with hardly any red chile sauce or spice to it at all. I even asked if they can add more chili and/or spice to it, and the waitress basically said that's not possible (What?!? Of course you can!!). Anyway, she said I can add Siracha sauce. (???) Guess she assumed this was the first time I had ramen lol?!? The Pork Chashu was nice and tender, but very small portion...and a tiny portion of ground pork (of beef?) and mushroom as well. Just skimpy toppings all around...yet this bowl was priced 18 bucks. I also hated how they didn't even bother to split open the egg. Also, I wasn't a fan of their super-thin noodles either. Just look at how unappetizing this bowl looked! So basically, this ramen struck out on several accounts. Possibly the weakest ramen I've had in a restaurant in years?? I managed to down at least one third of it though. Then this Sampler Tempura. While the portion of plentiful, I thought the batter was weak...and well, some of the veggie tempura just tasted BAD. Especially the Brussel Sprouts (which I normally love) had this sour taste to it? I was also disappointed that they didn't include Broccoli in the mix. I was only able to eat half of this. Just not that good. I just can't sugarcoat it. I was not into their ramen or this sampler tempura. Both too mild...very bland. Also...they charge you an additional dollar if you use credit card. Something I don't recall seeing on the menu. Given such high ratings from Yelp, I had high hopes for this place...but I left scratching my head. I doubt I'll be returning anytime soon.

So far so good. Our food comes and we realized we have no utensils and my daughter's noodles had no broth in it. It was dry noodles.
