The appetizers were just as amazing and seriously delicious; we couldn't get enough! We tried everything from crispy chicken, glazed eggplant, Brussel sprout tempura, crispy rice tuna and more! And a huge s/o to Tyra for providing amazing service! She was so friendly, attentive, and genuinely made the entire experience even better. While enjoying a wonderful vacation weekend with my family we decided to get some ramen. We love JINYA back home so we decided to try this one. We made a reservation for 7:45pm. Once we got there we were sat down immediately. Once seated our server, very polite Spanish young woman came to greet us and took our orders. The server even recommended a kids meal for our daugther. So far so good. Our food comes and we realized we have no utensils and my daughter's noodles had no broth in it. It was dry noodles. The server comes back asked us if we needed anything and we said yes can we have some utensils please? A fork and some chopsticks and broth for my daughters noodles. They are dry. She says sure no problem and leaves. Now while we are waiting two Spanish women we seated behind us. In the time we were waiting the two guest behind us placed their orders and got their food. When the server comes back she hands us 3 pairs of chopsticks and garlic. Walks back to the two women and hands one of them a fork. Still no fork or broth my daughter's noodles. My wife had to pour the broth from her ramen into our daughter's bowl so she can eat. The server comes back again with 3 GOT DAMN SPOONS and says she couldn't find any more forks. So in the entire restaurant theirs not ONE FORK. I said but you just gave those customers a fork. Pointing to the guest behind us. She says sorry and walks over to the guest behind us. The server starts talking to the guest in Spanish but little does she know I speak Spanish. The server starts complaining about us to the guest saying that we're asking for too many things and we need to shut up and just eat our food. when I told my wife that they're talking about us, she immediately asked for the manager we explained our situation and the manager immediately comped our meal. Overall good place, delicious food and fast service. I don't know much about ramen and Asian food to begin with but i was more than satisfied with everything we had. Edamame is easy to make and season- so it was good, i don't think some specific skill is needed for that hit our ramen bowls were super tasty. They are happy to accommodate any restrictions and mix and matxh ingredients when needed, which in this case it was. Genuinely a good vibe and relaxed place, not too loud not too quiet. We would come back. P.S. My ratings are based on whether I believe I could make a better or healthier version at home. If food/drinks/service impress me, I'll be happy to come back. Came here for lunch on a cold, rainy day because I was craving ramen. I sat at the bar, and my bartender/waiter looked overwhelmed--they had just finished their lunch rush, and I'm sure he was trying to play catch-up. With that being said, his service was lacking. I had to ask for water twice, ask for a soda refill, and it took a minute just to get a menu. The pork ramen was okay--pretty bland and simple--but since it was raining, I still found some comfort in it. However, paying $30 for a bowl of ramen, some steamed bok choy, and a soda for lunch feels a bit steep. I don't think I'll be coming back. read more

I enjoyed lunch at Jinya with my daughter. It was the first time for both of us. The restaurant is spacious and has plenty of seating. We sat across from the bar with open four sides that allowed us to see the tables on the other side. I can only imagine the crowd they might have during the dinner hour. It was a late lunch for us, so there were only a few patrons inside. Parking behind the restaurant was plentiful. Service was excellent, and our dishes came out quickly. I ordered the Spicy Chicken Ramen. I enjoy spicy food, and the dish was lacking (1/5). I added Sriracha or chili garlic (one of the sauces on the table) to bring it up to a 5. I tasted the Unagi Inari Sushi roll, and it was divine! I also enjoyed the Sake flight with Lychee, Pineapple, Strawberry, and Premium flavors. I enjoyed them, but my preference remains hot Sake. We ordered a couple appetizers and some ramen. i've been to Jinya plenty time before and enjoy the fact that they use hakkata style noodles in their ramen. My favorite type of noodles for Tonkotsu Ramen. The broth was rich and the noodles grabs onto the broth pretty well. Along with the food the service was great. Would definitely recommend. One thing i am surprise of was their price. It's gone up significantly to 20 bucks a bowl of ramen. read more

My new favorite Japanese restaurant in Charlotte! Jinya has 3 tings going for it: 1. Great food, 2. Great vibe and 3. Great service: 1. Food: The menu offers quite a few options for all. My wife and I went for the Birria Ramen noodle bowl, the octopus, the Combination (Tan Tan Men with the mushrooms and the pork cashew bowl). For drinks, we got the J.Girl and the Matcha Lychee Lemonade. Everything was delicious. 2. Vibe: It's a great atmosphere to bring your family, a date or coworkers. Common areas are comfortable and clean. There is a full bar in the middle of the restaurant with plenty of big TVs if you feel like watching a game. 3. Service: Very friendly and professional! Since it was happy hour, I got the $6, crispy chicken and it took Tonkasu black ramen. I think that's what it's called. My food was great. I enjoyed the service from Oliver. At the bar, he made sure I was good and checked upon me.I have no complaints would definitely go back here again. The only negative opinion that I have is of the bathroom.There was not any toilet paper in the stall that I used.Thank goodness.I was the only one in there. This wasn't our first time eating at Jinya but our first time at this location. Let me just say I prefer this location so much more. Better parking and more space in the restaurant so you don't feel like you're on top of the next table. I enjoyed their Chicken Ramen but hubby really enjoyed their Birria Ramen. I think the piece of pork was too thick and overcooked, the pork should be thinner to do this dish correctly. 1 Star. We visited this restaurant to celebrate our son's birthday, and unfortunately it turned out to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences we have had. The food itself was decent, but the service and hygiene standards completely ruined everything. When our server brought out the ramen, she was wearing black gloves that were visibly dirty. Even worse, her fingernails were so long that they had torn through the ends of the gloves and were sticking out. As she served the soup, one of her exposed nails actually dipped into the broth and caught some of the noodles, causing some of the soup to spill. My wife was so disgusted by what she saw that she nearly felt sick. It was one of the most unhygienic things we have ever witnessed in a restaurant. Watching a server handle food with dirty gloves and exposed nails touching a customer's meal is completely unacceptable. To make matters worse, when we ordered cocktails, they were served without proper straws. We were eventually given extremely thin cocktail straws that were clearly not suitable for drinks containing pieces of fresh strawberry. The strawberry kept getting stuck in the straws, making the cocktails frustrating and nearly impossible to drink. We chose not to make a scene at the time because it was our son's birthday and we did not want to ruin his celebration. However, after thinking about the experience, we feel that other customers should know what happened. The food may have been okay, but it did not matter in the end. The service, lack of attention to hygiene, and overall poor customer experience completely overshadowed the food and ruined the entire meal for us. We will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant to others. read more

I've been to this location about as many times as the original location downtown. Parking is about the same hassle here as it is downtown. My last visit was during the Jinya anniversary. The staff wasn't knowledge about the deals they were offering. I'm glad I took a screenshot so I could show my server. The pork bun was not a favorite for me. Too fatty and full of mayo. Two things I don't like. The ramen was ok to me but my mom loved it and wants to go back for more. She also loves the chicken thigh appetizer. Overall this is ok Ramen and Japanese apps in Charlotte but I feel like there is better flavor at other restaurants. We started by sharing the Crispy Rice with Spicy Tuna...then the Spicy Chicken Ramen for my husband and the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen for me...then we ended by sharing the Panna Cotta dessert. My husband ordered some beer (?), as usual...and I tried their Matcha Lemonade Mocktail. Well, I personally loved all...from app to dessert...and even the mocktail! I'm so glad I decided to try the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen...think it's the best ramen I've tried at any of the Jinya locations. One disappointment was that they were out of Bamboo shoots (Huh??), a side topping that I was hoping to add. I ended up ordering Corn on the side. My husband liked his ramen, but thought it was a bit underwhelming. I felt that if he ordered what I had, he wouldn't have felt that way. Oh Well. He seemed to really enjoy the Panna Cotta. I may have found my new ramen place in Charlotte! The ramen is fantastic, with good meat, noodles, etc. Unfortunately, you can't buy the seasoning they give you in a separate bottle; I'd love to take some home. While I didn't have their signature creamy vegan ramen, a friend of mine did and he said it was great, if less spicy than he expected. The edamame is edamame; it's hard to mess up or glamor up soybeans with salt. The waitstaff is knowledgeable and attentive without being overbearing. Overall it was a pretty good experience today. I came early evening to get my sushi fix. My server was NICK and he is still in training. Nick had a pleasant attitude and wants to do well. Be patient with new servers because we all have to start somewhere. Anyway, I tried 2 new menu items today and I was NOT disappointed. First was the matcha lychee lemonade under the MOCKTAILS. ADDICTING! It was sooo good and I had to refrain from ordering a second. I'm getting it again. And I'm going to be matching a knockoff at home. The next new item that I tried was the Salmon Aburi Oshi-Sushi. Them thangs SLAPPED! I needed another order, but again, no need to be a big back. I will need to order it the next visit. I wanted sushi but not a lot because I knew I was ordering ramen so this was perfect. Soooo good. Lastly, I got the JINYA Tonkotsu Black ramen. I added broccolini which comes on the side because it's crispy. The little trees SLAP haha. I got it the last time I was here because the previous waitress told me to try it and it's been a need since. The ramen did what it do for sure. The only thing that I didn't like was the egg. This is my second time at this location and the egg is never how I'm used to it at the other location. This one doesn't have that nice sweet offset taste or same texture. I usually am someone who orders extra egg, but I can't because it just tastes like regular boiled egg and I, oddly enough, don't like those. Hahaha weird I know. Anyway, I'll still be back.
