We are thankful for DP Christian School! We have 3 kids currently enrolled and it's their second year. How we got here? Our previous Christian school closed down and didn't know where to go and after praying about it for a couple days I've seen an advertisement on Instagram so I took it as an answered prayer here we are two years later and going to enroll them for the next school year. The staff is amazing, the teachers really take the time to make sure the kids understand not just go through the curriculum and I can say they go above and beyond! I have one 6th grader, 8th grader and 10th and I can say I've seen them flourish as each child has different needs and they sure find it because they care and take the time to do so. Last but not least they truly try to keep the kids engaged and involved by having special dances, field trips, camps etc... which is important so they don't feel they're missing out on the fun specially as teen but in a safe environment. Our family has 3 kids that are attending here-starting 4 years ago. I love seeing the kids learn about the Bible and enjoy seeing their own confidence grow In God the more they learn. When attending public school, I realized that some of the things my kids were coming home with were a little crazy. I thought if this is my kids "normal", then this "crazy" will always be normal. How can 7-8 hours a day with others not affect your kid's upbringing? We haven't experienced any of those crazy things here and I appreciate that so much! They are thriving in their education, they have structure, they know cursive because that is still in the DP's elementary curriculum, Abeka. lol, sometimes it is the simple things!! All of the curriculum is very cohesive and you can see that it helps create that "big picture" between academia and all of God's creation! I have nothing to say but good things about this school. First off I am so happy could not be more glad that I found this school. The VP Suzanne is amazing she has literally answered every question annoying text and phone call from me when I was questioning if should bring my child here. From the getgo all she has done is be amazing!!! Thank you!!! After waiting a few months for the new school year it's finally here. I am proud to say my child attends this school, his teacher is amazing he's is treated with love from everyone and you can just feel how much the staff here cares for your child. K5 ms. Valez is amazing. Being my child's first year here I can already tell you that it's the place to be, many parents mentioned they came from other local private schools and they did not like them. i would strongly reconsider weather you want your child to go here particularly if you have a boy as this school is more geared towards girls as i dont know if there equipped to handle boys. I believe the leadership and some not all teachers communication severely lacks and needs work. If you do not fit the mold I feel they are looking for it appears they put their hands up if it requires additional work and say sorry we cant help or come up with some excuse. I would also point out from my child and other parents I had spoken to feel we have noticed the confidence level has taken a hit at this school as all they seem to do is point out negatives and no positives. I would say they want parents as well as children in a specific mold as well as they will either ask you not to return or make you want to leave as its my belief there is a high turnover rate at this school as several kids no longer attend within the 2 years we have been there. If entering 2nd grade expect to have to do a lot of hands on at home as the current teacher does not communicate with the parents and previous experience is not in a normal classroom and it showed as many of the students struggled when they switched teachers and many other parents in same class felt a sever lack of communication from the teacher and were concerned. We had to re teach a lot of material at home which was frustrating as thats what we expect when enrolling at a private school and if you bring up concerns the school is very defensive as nothing is their fault and will not be open to suggestion and leadership is very unprofessional and could give numerous examples but believe this school would be better off with someone else leading the charge. Its hard to imagine someone in a position like this claims to be a child of God but certainly does not behave or act like one. For instance at Christmas performances trying to be funny and talking about sex and getting drunk is not appropriate. Towards the end my son dreaded going to school here and myself and my son did not feel safe at the school the saving grace was the gym teachers at this school. In my opinion they were great with him and thats the one thing i will say he will miss is the coaches they have there were genuinely great role models however some of the teachers and support staff seem like they do not want to be there, grumpy, and never smile so i can understand why my child who is shy seemed intimidated by some of the staff and not safe attending this school anymore. All i would say to future parents is dont go off all these positive reviews as there are some real concerns with this school and do your diligence especially if you have a boy you like to attend at DPS. Dont get me wrong it all wasnt bad but it just gradually got worse and started noticing things we may not have noticed right away. DP Christian has been such a blessing to us! My daughter, pre-covid was bubbly, happy and carried a 4.0 without trouble. Homeschooling was not for us. She thrives in class and DP has made that possible again. Director Suzanne is welcoming and truly lead by God in her acceptance and educational approach. Her Jr High teacher Mrs. Schmitz was fantastic! Leading her through the more difficult curriculum so she could find her feet again. She's so excited to be starting High School there and I'm so happy that my bubbly, happy girl, who loves to learn, is back. We are blessed to be part of the DP Christian School family. read more
