Prefacing this review with a comment that the owner/salesman is likeable, very personable, and seems to be a kind honest man. Being in the business for as long as he has been it is difficult for me to understand why he didn't see the obvious clues I as a non-mechanical person noticed. Unfortunately I needed to purchase this vehicle remotely, am on an out of town project and needed a daily driver so flew back home to San Diego with the intent to road trip it back to the project site after visiting with family for a few days and did not test drive it myself before signing the agreement to purchase. I am still in SD going on two weeks while repairs are being done. I feel burned badly and have now shelled out more than $19k that I did not have on a vehicle worth less than $8k per KBB and the banks. Yes I understand it is a used vehicle however I thought even used vehicles were inspected and I always hope people are upfront about things they are offering up for sale. Shame on me for being trusting and shame on him. Flew in and signed the paperwork on a Thursday. Also purchased a 3rd party warranty I was told covered everything front to back. Come to find out this was also an untruth. Drove off the lot, on the freeway the front end had shaking. Went from Mission Gorge Rd to Spring Valley the truck went into blinking O/D light on the dash so I pulled off the closest exit. It would not reset until turned off and back on again. Then proceeded the remaining 4 miles. As I went up the driveway (not steep by any means) it seemed like it bound up, not in 4x4, and would not go. Being used and "As Is" the next morning I called a trusted shop I have frequented for over a decade when suspension service was needed. Minimum to be safe on the road using OEM parts $2600. Checked with Ford service who quoted the same needed service but at a higher cost. When they were done I took it to an AAMCO who had excellent review to have an eval because of the slipping. Trani was throwing a code. Required rebuild of transmission and converter. $2900 None of it was covered by the "3rd party warranty I was told covered everything front to back". I did not expect this much out of pocket expense, feel completely violated, and I am stuck. In the worst possible way. Future buyers beware - If you do purchase from here take it to a shop for inspection before signing the papers. Even if it cost you a little bit of $ it will be worth the time. A pretty vehicle that does not work is just a big piece of expensive art.

Of course, it's important to understand that this is a business, and their goal is to sell cars -- so you shouldn't expect to get a vehicle for free. That said, my impression of the staff was genuinely positive. Everyone I interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and kind. It felt like each person was trying to help me in their own way, and honestly, they succeeded.

From the moment we walked in, everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. We never felt pressured or rushed into making a decision. What really stood out was their honesty. They didn't try to sugarcoat anything or give us the typical sales pitch--they answered every question directly, explained everything thoroughly, and made sure we were comfortable throughout the entire process. It felt like they actually cared about helping us find the right truck, not just making a sale. Buying a vehicle can be stressful, but the team at SO CAL Performance SD made it an enjoyable experience. Their professionalism, transparency, and customer service set them apart from every other dealership we visited. We couldn't be happier with our purchase and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a quality vehicle and a dealership they can trust.

I always do my research, and unfortunately my assessment turned out to be correct even before Allman completed their diagnostics. Mike at Allman spent a great deal of time walking me through different scenarios and options, providing detailed estimates for each. I also requested additional estimates, including a full engine replacement, so I could make a fully informed decision. While their estimate was less than dealership service departments, it was slightly higher than another independent shop. After researching the difference, I found it came down to Allman using OEM parts rather than cheaper aftermarket parts made overseas. I don't use cheap parts on my vehicles, so that made the decision easy. Once I felt fully comfortable, I chose Allman and I'm glad I did. Mike kept me informed throughout the process, and my Jeep was back on the road even earlier than estimated. Thank you, Allman Family Auto, for the honesty, transparency, and quality work.

After I raised concerns about what I believed was a misdiagnosis and being overcharged for repairs that did not fix the original issue with my vehicle, I reached out to the shop directly to address the situation. To their credit, once I called them out and explained the ongoing problem, they agreed to take another look at my car. Upon re-evaluation, they acknowledged that the initial repair did not resolve the root issue. They worked on the vehicle again and ultimately fixed the original problem at no additional charge. I appreciate that they took responsibility and made the effort to correct the situation. While my initial experience was frustrating and felt misleading, I do recognize their willingness to make things right after the fact. I hope moving forward they improve their diagnostic process to prevent similar issues for other customers. Updating my review to reflect both the initial experience and the resolution.

Paykan Auto in San Diego? Oh man, buckle up, because you just asked for the…read moreyou-can't-handle-the-truth truth about these guys. Most mechanics in SD see a car with a weird noise, a dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree, or something that's been Frankenstein-ed together from three different continents, and they immediately hit the panic button: "Nah, too complicated, take it to the dealer," or "That's gonna cost you an arm, a leg, and your firstborn." They run faster than you do when someone yells "free In-N-Out." But Paykan Auto? These legends look at that same nightmare job--the timing belt on a 20-year-old import that's been babied by someone who thinks "maintenance" means prayer, the transmission that's been slipping since the Obama administration, the electrical gremlins that make your car randomly play polka music--and they just crack their knuckles and say, "Challenge accepted." They've been fixing cars (and selling solid used ones) at 5486 El Cajon Blvd for years, with reviews screaming honesty, fair prices, and straight-up wizardry. One person literally said their family has used them as mechanics for 15+ years while buying multiple cars there. Another called Hadi and the crew "THE BEST!!!!" They tackle the stuff that makes other shops sweat: weird European mods, beat-up daily drivers on their last legs, you name it. It's like if Jack Reacher was a mechanic--quiet, no BS, gets the job done right, and leaves you wondering why everyone else is so scared of hard work. You roll in thinking your car's doomed, you roll out thinking, "Wait, that was actually affordable AND it drives better than when I bought it?" Truth bomb: In a city full of mechanics who ghost you harder than a bad Tinder date, Paykan Auto is the rare shop that doesn't flinch. They handle the repairs everyone else runs from... and they do it with a smile, fair pricing, and zero drama. If your car's throwing a tantrum that would make a toddler jealous, take it to Paykan. Just don't blame me when you become one of those people who starts every story with, "These guys at Paykan fixed my [insert horror story here] like it was nothing." (Pro tip: Call ahead--Hadi and the team are busy saving San Diego's sanity one scary repair at a time.)

Unfortunately, my experience consistently fell short of that expectation. Oil changes routinely took between two and three hours, even when scheduled in advance. Over time, it also became increasingly difficult to reach anyone directly by phone, as calls were routed to voicemail with the expectation of a callback rather than allowing customers to speak with a service advisor. On one visit, I notified the service department ahead of time that my vehicle required a specific oil filter so they could have it available. Despite that notice, the filter had not been ordered, resulting in further delays. The most concerning experience involved my brakes. I was advised that brake work was necessary, yet after leaving the dealership, my brakes failed almost immediately. It was an alarming and potentially dangerous situation that significantly undermined my confidence in the quality of the service being provided. I later corresponded with the service manager in hopes of addressing these concerns. While I appreciated receiving a response, I was ultimately disappointed by how the issues were handled. I did not feel that the seriousness of the situation was adequately acknowledged or resolved. I rarely leave negative reviews, but I believe it's important to share an honest account of my experience. I had hoped that purchasing the lifetime maintenance package would provide peace of mind and a long-term relationship with the dealership. Instead, it became a source of repeated frustration and, in one instance, a genuine safety concern.
