Buyer Beware: Dealership uses 'As-Is' paperwork to insulate themselves from selling vehicles with severe, pre-existing powertrain defects. Purchased a Lexus GX 470 and in under 300 miles, the transmission suffered an internal hydraulic failure, throwing Code P2714 and dropping into Limp Mode. As a professional mechanic with a shop, I ran live-data scan testing and mechanical stall tests (locking at 2,250 RPM), proving the defect was a long-standing pre-existing valve body condition present at the time of sale. Management (Tony) completely refused to offer any financial assistance or even split the wholesale cost of raw parts, stating they were 'satisfied' with the outcome because I signed an As-Is form. Zero corporate integrity when a major safety component fails immediately after delivery. I regret buying this car from this dealership because the experience was terrible. Just bought a car from Tony here yesterday and it was a smooth, positive experience. No pressure, they let us walk around without following us, could sit in any of the cars as they were all open. The staff here are very down to earth and friendly. We found the prices to be fair too. This used car is for a new 16 yr old driver in the family, and they have dozens of great low priced options. We live over an hour away, but decided to come by given their reviews. And, now having experienced it firsthand, we have to agree. While going through our paperwork another sweet older couple was also buying car. They have done business with them in the past, but now live in Los Angeles (over 3 hours away). They drove all the way back to be return customers. I was very impressed by that! Tony was so easy to talk to and work with throughout the purchase process - he has a great personality and made me and my family feel welcome and at ease the entire time. The paperwork part took about 30 minutes from the time we agreed on a price. We definitely would welcome making the hour drive back again to buy another car in the future. Wow! These guys are just awesome. They had a couple of cars on the lot that I wanted to see, but I kept putting it off because we live in Fallbrook; I didn't want to make the long drive into San Diego. Well it was SO worth it. I bought a 2008 Lexus 400H and I'm loving it. A week after we bought the car, we drove it 4 hours from Fallbrook to Solvang and it performed beautifully. Typical dependable, comfortable, high performance Toyota. Tony showed us the car, and he was helpful, forthright and honest about what he knew about the vehicle. After we drove it, I was pretty much ready to buy it, but Tony was with another customer so Shapour stepped in to answer any other questions. When I pointed out that one of the tires looked a bit rough (the others were pretty new), Shapour offered to take the car across the street and have them replace the tire. Very service oriented! While he did that, Tony sat down to do the paperwork with us. We finished up while Shapour was still getting the tire replaced, so my husband and I went across the street to have lunch at a great Thai place Tony recommended. Then, when we went to pay the bill, our server said that Tony had bought our lunch!! How awesome is that? Best car buying experience ever! There was absolutely no pressure. I had a great time choosing my current vehicle from this dealer. I spoke with a representative on the phone and sent him a list of cars that interested me. He the day i came all 4 cars were ready for me to test drive. The gentleman helped me pick one 1 out of the 4, based on my own necessities, which are not going to be found in carfax printouts. Once I picked the car I purchased, I filled out a loan application online. I came the next day with the down-payment and the gentleman told me the rate i got approved for. I wasnt as happy about the rate as I would have liked, so the gentleman contacted the lender and helped me bring it lower. My current vehicle was ready to go very soon after, clean, nicely scented, with a spare key included. I waited 3 weeks before writing this post because I wanted to make sure my purchase was worth giving my approval to this seller. I drove this car on freeways, in town, fast, slow, over speed bumps, and in reverse, parked it in the rain and sunshine, gave rides to others, piled in boxes, and took a nap in it. AUCTIONED VEHICLES AND THEN COVERING UP DAMAGE AND TRYING TO SELL FOR TOP DOLLAR! STEAR CLEAR Spoke to Tony 5 days ago about a 2006 Acura RSX Type S currently on their lot. Told him over the phone we had concerns about paint corrections the pic that didn't match. He explained it's their cleanest car on the lot and he doesn't believe there are any issues. Original owner car, 30 year family business, all that. I told him we would be bringing a paint meter and since we driving hours from LA and will be bringing a paint meter and looking for any issues without exemption. He said he will look more closely the following day and get back to me the next day and we could do a video chat. Since we were are driving hours to look at their 2006 Acura which they are asking $26k for(which is the very high end price representing a very clean low mileage all original vehicle) we wanted to be clear we are expecting to see a very clean car otherwise not interested. Called the next day and it was Tony's day off, you would have thought he would mention that. My guess is he knew we would be critical and he knew he wasn't pulling the wool over us. After driving hours today to look at the car relying on his statements that it was the cleanest car on his lot and that he didn't believe the car had any paint issues representing an all original vehicle we were sorely disappointed. Upon first glance it was obvious the bumper lines are off, front bumper panels have gaps that didn't line up, headlights are off and not OEM, even the right side has overspray, more red flags than china town. Man, what a waste of time, bummer. If this is the cleanest car on the lot I can't imagine how much bubblegum is holding together the other cars. I feel he was misleading and considering how many cars are out there why would you ever choose to buy from someone is capable of misleading you. Carfax shows this car was bought at auction. If Tony is in the car business I find it impossible to believe he didn't know about the car damage and bad repairs. Then to price it as an all original perfect specimen of this car is basically trying to rip people off. This isn't even getting into mechanics of the vehicle. For an original owner car out of AZ with 40k miles to then get to auction and end up in San Diego is suspect. Guaranteed they know or completed the body work themselves. Next time represent what the car and try to massively take profits. Say what it is, a car that has low miles and has had some work and sell it for $15k, not $26k($29k out the door). This car obviously had front end and rear end damage that was then covered up poorly and not disclosed, worse that it was represented as not having happened. Sorry Tony, but had to share the experience, gotta look out for my fellow neighbor, especially when you are asking this sort of money for a car like that. EDIT- 12/3/22 RECEIVED A COMMENT FROM OWNER TO THIS REVIEW WHICH I RESPOND WITH: Got your response, no missed calls on my end and you did not mention you were not in the next couple days after our last conversation on Wed. You said the next day you would take a closer look in the light and get back to me. Considering you were not scheduled the next day that would not make sense. We spoke last Wed, I have zero missed calls from you on Thursday or Friday. I called Thursday to speak with you and spoke with Fred, I called Friday and spoke with Fred, no Tony and no missed calls. This is not the focus anyway. If you have been in the car business 30 years you know when a car has had body damage and has aftermarket parts and paint. Telling me on the phone that it is a really clean car and that the bumpers show chips as if they have not been repainted is the exact opposite of what you say now that you said(that the bumpers have been repainted). Sounds to me like you're saying things that did not take place and trying to cover with your comment. Also, don't know what you are talking about. I live in Los Angeles, always have, Altadena is in Los Angeles. Why the hell would I mislead about where I live, silly attempt to discredit me. I always told you we were driving from los Angeles, that was the whole point of not wasting the two hours each way drive time and expense. Again, talking crazy. I believe the review is warranted. Any yes, most of my reviews are negative, just like everyone else. If I pay for something I expect it to be good, that is then getting what I expected. I don't write reviews to advertise for businesses, their good quality of service and products advertise for themselves. I do write reviews to warn people of places that I feel are out to get over on people. You're in the car business, you know $26k is representing a perfect OEM low mileage example, this car has been in accidents and has aftermarket parts and paint. Not a $26k car. Pros: - The service was quick, professional, and friendly - The staff are very easy to communicate with - They have integrity with their services and will help you out if there are any issues Cons: - The minor car issue, but it was resolved, so no cons? I was in a rush and needed another car right away, (I had totaled my other car and had no insurance!) So after searching for reputable places nearby I made my way here (Prime Auto Imports). The guys were very nice and offered me some coffee/water. I was very serious about getting a car within the next 30 minutes or so, and I remember telling the guy there that I already saw the one I wanted, it was a 2004 Ford Fusion. Long story short, we proceeded with a test drive, he just gave me the keys and after driving it I felt everything was good to go. Once I got back we zipped through the paperwork and they let me know that they will help out if I have any car issues going forward. After driving for a day the car had some minor issues, things were rattling and the check engine lights came on, I called them the next day. While on the phone they asked me a few questions about what was happening, I came by and dropped the keys off to them and they kept their word, called their mechanic and notified me that problems had been fixed and the car was ready for me to pickup 2 days later, free of charge! Best experience I've had purchasing a car. Sometimes other dealers will make resolving issues a painful experience.
