My daughter went to this dental office for several years but finally left in disgust. She is disabled and the medication she takes causes tooth decay so she needed extensive work. She was never properly informed about the work being planned and it dragged on and on. The dentist, Mary Jacobs, broke one of her teeth and didn't repair it. This dentist made plates before doing the fillings and crowns she promised. The plates don't fit properly and to adjust them the dentist drilled the back teeth so their sharp, pointy and painful. This place is terrible. My mother went in to remove a tooth that was bothering her. She also mentioned to the doctor another tooth was giving problems and they recommended she wait to do any work on it. In the meantime, that tooth broke in half while she was eating. She went in to get a root canal by Mary Jacobs. When my mother mentioned that she could feel her working on her, she injected local anesthesia on the cheeks rather than gums. My mother asked her why she was doing that. She responded saying because it's not numbing her. Her face is incredibly swollen and bruised along the jawline and under her chin. She ended up switching her antibiotic (not sure what the purpose of this was). The doctor said it was because there is an infection now. Also, when she went in previously to get her tooth removed Mary Jacobs forgot to provide a prescription for pain killers. Instead she questioned my mother for not reminding her. I would like to warn future customers to stay clear because of the poor service from the administrators, who schedule appointments when the office is closed or the dentist is on vacation. I decided to leave this place after I tried three cleanings. The reason is that their cleaning is very short. Always my cleaning was like that at this place. My cleaning appointment was at 8 a.m. Filled up paper first from 8 a.m. 8:05 a.m. I was called to enter the procedure room. 8:10 a.m. assistant showed up and took X-ray. I heard the dr came into the office at 8:15 a.m. 8:20 a.m. dr came in and cleaned my teeth for 5 minutes. Then another assistant flossed my teeth for 5 minutes. By 8:35 a.m. I was already on the way to work. My all of previous dentists, always cleaning was around 45 minutes without stopping. It is not comfortable, but should get enough service. read more

I showed up to the office after forgetting to confirm my appointment and understandably couldn't get my teeth cleaned, they also helped me set up another appointment for the next day however the same day of my appointment I was sent another confirmation text, which I confirmed and then that confirmation was, what I'm now assuming was at auto confirmed. Anyway when I showed up to my appointment I was told that it had been cancelled for failing to confirm 24 hrs earlier, then the secretary said "she had my name off to the side" and "thought I might come in". Anyway I could tell shes deals with this a lot because she seemed annoyed by the questions so can you help her out and change the automatic confirmation for the day of if the appointment has already been canceled? It only cost me an hour of my day but you basically told me to show up for something you knew was cancelled for 24 hrs. read more

First time I came: there was some assistant in training that flossed me so hard that my gums bleed and he forgot to put a napkin on me so all my clothes got dirty. Second time I came: they called me to tell me my appointment was canceled but I didn't pick up and so I showed up for nothing. Could have send me a text. Third time I came: there where for some reason 3 people ahead of me, but I was on time. I asked how long the wait would be, I just got uncomfortable looks back and was told to wait. I waited for another 20 min and then asked again, and it turned out the wait was 2 h. I left and rescheduled. Fourth time I showed up: they lost my insurance and told me they can't find it. I found my card number that was used the last 2 years and they called it and said that my insurance only covers below 19 years old (which is wrong, it covers up to 26 and I was 25). I said it's impossible because I was using this insurance for the past 2 years at this dentist and asked to speak to the manager in an annoyed manner. The receptionist told me that there is no manager and if I'm rude she will not help me. I kept beginning for another 30 min for her to call the manager and ask how I was covered for the last two years. Finally this woman called the manager, talked demonstratively in Spanish, and then told me that I'm in fact covered under my mom's insurance. That was ridiculous because my mom lives in Russia and is not even a US citizen. I begged to call the manager again and speak to them and told her that I want to know who was paying for my insurance. I got a response along the lines "some woman, I don't care, must be your mom." I finally spoke to the manager over the phone and it turned out that I was under my dad's insurance as I was telling from the beginning, I'm fully covered, and the mysterious woman included in the coverage is my stepmom. At this point it was 3 PM and the dentist office was closing, even though my appointment was at 2 PM. I asked this secretary to ask if I still be seen since they found my insurance. She talked to someone and they served other customers. I told her she has to finish with me and then she was like "yeah you will be seen." When I asked how much copay it would be and said I can use Apple Pay she said she can't log into Apple Pay so no Apple Pay that day. I left and I am not coming back. 4 times a screw up is a trend, and this place is horrible at customer service. This place is basically horrible. Something went wrong 4 times and on the 4th time I wrote this review because this is so bad it's almost comical. I had a few good experiences here a year or two ago. The dentist is very nice. Since then, however, the cleanings have become more hasty, while more and more energy is being devoted to getting people back through the door. The following tactics were employed: 1. I have genetically good teeth and thus typically get my teeth cleaned once a year, vs on a 6 month cycle. I like to call and set up the appointments myself. However, someone in the office set up a 6 month followup appointment for me without consulting with me. The time they chose did not work at all, so I was forced to call them to cancel the appointment. 2. They then subsequently called/emailed multiple times to set up a follow-up appointment. I finally picked up and said I don't want to make a followup appointment. They are still calling me. I've nearly had it with the full court press, and am considering changing dentists. read more

Pretty bad experience overall, but super nice person at the front desk. The X-Ray machine was broken and the chairs looked very dirty. The cleaning was very rushed, spending probably only a few minutes for my entire set of teeth, what other dentists would take at least ~10-15 minutes to full clean each tooth. The dentist rushed through the cleaning so fast that I was actually grimacing in pain because of the carelessness. I now understand why people fear going to the dentist. I had to go to a second dentist for a cleaning a week after. There they spent more than an hour reviewing my x-rays, cleaning my teeth, and answering my questions. Ive been here about 3-4 times so far and (full disclosure) have several more to go. My dental anxiety and oral health challenges are chronicled in my first review on Yelp. If you check - you'll see Im pretty sensitive. With that said: Dear My Fellow dental-phobics, odontophobics, dentophobics.... go here. They're very kind and non-judgmental, as well as efficient/effective. My mouth is not an easy task and they're handling it with polite and positive aplomb. Very professional but also pretty laid back in this humble location. I'm pretty brutally honest and if comfortable, am a fan of self-deprecating humor, and they've never shamed me at all, just smile politely along to my corniness and get the job done. Kudos. I have a pretty high pain tolerance but if I wince EVEN SLIGHTLY they automatically check in regardless. Never felt any pain, honestly dramatically less pain than in other places I've been to. I don't remember anyone's name because that is not my strong suit - but I've had one consistent dentist & receptionist as well as two dental associates and they've all been 5 stars. I've gone from being petrified of going to the dentist to the point of acute-pathological-avoidance (which is why Im a frequent flyer now) ---- to being nonchalant and calm about my appointments. Calm! If you knew me you'd know this is a big feat. Hell, I've fallen asleep in my chair, ok? Asleep. So, my fellow phobics and neurotics: please trust me when I say: Thanks Dr. Dental! Also reception is knowledgeable about insurance and despite being pretty busy doesn't forget you...... even if you're staring blankly off into space at the TV in the waiting room and end up forgetting to check in entirely (yes, this happened to me. I think Ive done this twice to the very patient receptionist). What's really cool is there is a flat screen in front of you so you get to see your own x-rays during treatment OR hell, even TV if you want? How neat and modern is that? Also speaking of modernity, they text you a few times to remind you of your appointment (or email, you can change the appointment reminder system) - so you can't miss it. read more

I have to agree with the majority almost all of the posters about the place. So the positives I was treated nicely by the lady who did my bitewings a different lady who put some polish on and then the dentist. All had a kind demeanor. The negatives I had a set appt at 6. I called in advance and asked if I could have a cleaning in addition. I was told yes come at 5. Then when the dentist after 2 other people did xrays and a polishing, came and saw a tooth that has a broken filling she apologized for an emergency appt that came in before me. I had no problem with that at all and told her as much. But then when she told me I had been "fit in "for appt, I attempted to correct her and say no my actual appt is now at 6 ! And there was an extra one the secretary gave me for 5 when I had called and asked additionally to have time for a cleaning . (I just got to lie there for most of that time and panic. But the real thing I don't understand if you know you have delayed someone's visit and you apologize for doing someone else first usually then you would compensate w extra time? And While I had a brief cleaning as others have mentioned which that is actually fine w me I dread the things, I was shocked no effort was made to put any filling at all to protect the open tooth area. I've never had that happen at any dental office when fillings have broken before. I was told even though it was still only 630 that they would let me have time to work out insurance and come back another day for a filling or a cap. I indicated my desire- can we just do a filling. The insurance part of no let's wait was reiterated . No offer to compensate that I had left my job losing pay early to be there for 2 time slots The ladies who saw me were kind people, no issue there but I think everything fell really short on the whole since we had an emergency we aren't going to spend extra time to even give you part of the 2 sessions you actually had focus. And then kind of in a state of shock to be told At the front I need to come on two separate days for a deep cleaning ( I'm so glad I missed work today to do,,,?) and a filling . Like many people I'm petrified of dental work and that is so overwhelming as well as trying to keep my job. I have to say and I hope this has an impact but it seems it doesn't because so many people have needed to say the same thing, that it should be understood, it's not easy for some of us to get time off from work for some of us including me we risk our jobs doing this kind of last minute thing and then to have someone wait so long , pretend you didn't have appts then actually apologize but still do solittle Well I just don't think it's compassionate at all. I am hoping the team can re think finding a way to fit me in and help make up for it as I liked them as people just not how I had to be nervous and get so little done in an hour and a half of a panic in a chair w bright lights . And I do hope the office if not willing to squeeze in people they have wronged can at least then give me my accurate bite wings so I can go somewhere they will make me feel like my time matters ( as I see from a. I had Dr. Vahidnia, and was pleased with the work I had done by him. The front office is totally dispassionate (-1 star), but overall it was a fine place to get my full set of x-rays and a couple of composite fillings done. They were the closest dentist to Central that took my Metlife DPPO insurance. I had never had the ultrasound cleaning pick used on me before, and it was much quicker than the usual metal scraper, and not bad if you can stand the squealing whine conducted through your jaw. read more

I had a really great experience here last week. Everyone from the front desk, to the hygienist, to the dentist were wonderful. I had a very poor experience at the dentist at my last appointment (it was a different dentist) where I was told I had several cavities. I went to Dr Dental for a second opinion and was told I had none. And I had a great cleaning. The whole appointment was under an hr even with X-rays. Highly recommend especially if you're new to the city and looking for somewhere quick and convenient. They also accepted my insurance which I had a hard time finding a place that did. I was waiting to drop my review of this place until after I had my fillings done. Because based on my last cleaning session alone I wouldn't have had many nice things to say about this place and I'm well aware that businesses do read Yelp reviews and I take oral care very seriously. For a couple of years I had been coming here and getting great care from my dentist, until 2011 when I lost my job and dental insurance. So for about a year I didn't see the dentist. Then when I got brand spanking new insurance I made an appointment and went in for a visit. The tall blond Ukrainian woman who had been my dentist for years was surprisingly replaced by a short Indian man. I wouldn't have minded this if: 1. Dr. Dental's staff let me know that my dentist had left. 2. Told me the name of my new dentist beforehand. The guy didn't even introduce himself. I had to ask him his name. It's just common courtesy in my book. It's what happens at the doctor's office. They let you know who's going to be examining you. I expect the same level of courtesy from the dentist or any professional I'm working with. He didn't even do much of a cleaning. I left feeling a little bit perplexed and disappointed in the level of service. Last week I went back for my 6 month cleaning. This time I asked beforehand who my dentist would be. Got a name I didn't recognize but truth be told it took me a session or two before I remembered the last dentist name. This time I was seen by Dr. Yegorov. Again, she didn't introduce herself but I ask since I really do like to know who's examining me. This time the dentist did a much better job cleaning but the wait was horrendous. I got in pretty quick as with most 9:30 appointments but it took 40 minutes for the dentist to get to me and after she asked for other xrays to make sure I had cavities it took another 30 mins for her to get back to me. Almost an hour and half wait for 20mins of work is unacceptable. The saving grace though was getting the fillings. First of all the dentist was pretty nice. Told me if there's any pain or discomfort and I want her to stop all I had to do was raise my hand. Also the fillings took an hour less than the cleaning. And when I mentioned to the assistant that my bite felt too high she came back in in less than 5 mins and adjusted it. My experience with getting fillings was the saving grace of this experience and the level of service I expect from any business. read more

Groupon offered a good deal for teeth cleaning and check-up at Dr. Dental in September 2011. I was happy with the result of the cleaning of my teeth. However, there was a lot of waiting involved. It took more than an hour until it was finished. Luckily, there was a TV on the wall of each treatment room though. It helped to pass time. read more

Had two good experiences over the last year for checkups and cleaning. Front desk was friendly and answer my questions about my delta dental plan and what it covers. Dentistry staff were professional. They send you a LOT of reminders for scheduled appointments: I think I got at least four: emails, mail, calendar invites, etc. read more

This dental office was absolutely lovely. The receptionist was pleasant and easy to speak with. There were 3 separate women who dealt with me for my cleaning and X-rays. Unfortunately I did not get the name of the First Lady but she was very nice and walked me back to the exam room. Tiffany came in and did the X-rays. She was sweet, smart and very funny. She had a cracker-jack memory for numbers that she learned in school. She was great! The Doctor came in and did my cleaning. She was smart and kind. Unfortunately I have a beyond awful memory for names and hers was a bit exotic. She was great though! All in all the office was an excellent experience. It was clean, and the staff was intelligent and friendly. They text you a day before your appointment to remind you. If you're in this area don't hesitate to book an appointment with Dr. Dental. Completely wasted my time here. I made an appointment in advance, got there 15 mins early. Wasn't seen until 10 minutes after my appointment time - no big deal. But after putting me in the examination room, the lady left immediately, and I sat there waiting for forty five minutes to see anybody. Turns out the person had gone to help someone else out who came in AFTER me. Just came in to get pain checked out quickly, and got stuck sitting idle in the waiting room for a ridiculous amount of time. Complete disregard for patients time. I will not be back here. read more

If you want to go somewhere for a quick cleaning this is the place. under ten minutes? no problem. If you want some place that is clean, spends time on cleaning each tooth and actually flosses your teeth, you should stay away. They also find every cavity you may or may not have and want to fill all these little pits and flaws, warning of cavities to come. The thing is you don't need to have these little flaws or pits filled. There is no benefit at any time for early treatment. So basically they want you in and out of their office as fast as possible and back again to fill unnecessary cavities. It is really a shame and I am amazed at how many people's teeth these guys have ruined in the process only to make a profit. read more

To whom it may concern, After literally 8 months of substandard service at the office of Dr. Dental, located at 714 Massachusetts ave, I have finally decided enough is enough, and I have terminated my relationship with this office. Let me tell you what happened: I arrived 10 minutes early for my appointment, and was greeted on tie. At 10:00 am they took me back to a dentist office and put me in a chair, and placed a bib/napkin on me. I then sat in that chair waiting to be seen for 42 minutes, while the person assigned to see me was up front answering phones. This is not the first time this happened to me at this office. In a professional environment, if they were short of staff and needed someone to answer phones, they should have hired a temp to do this job, and the person seeing me should have informed me up front that they were having staffing problems ( to this moment I don't know if the person seeing me was a dentist, dental assistant, or office girl). Considering the fact that I have had many problems with this office, and have written up reviews stating exactly what the problems were, one would think that they would at least make an effort not to treat me as unprofessionally as they have been. Hopefully they wouldn't treat anyone this unprofessionally! Well, this shows me that after many attempts to forgive and try to move on, after making payment arrangements with my veteran safety office to render payment, after me completing all of their request for my treatment per their recommendations, after continually putting up with their mistreatments, I have finally said; enough is enough, and decided to terminate my relationship with this office of Dr. Dental. Let me be clear in stating I am not judging all Dr. Dental offices based on this locale's treatment of me. In fact, I plan on going to another Dr. Dental office to see if they can complete the treatment outlined by this office. It is my hope, that perhaps the corporate office of Dr. Dental will read this review, and implement changes in that office, starting with the Doctors, working all the way down the line to support personnel and administrative personnel as well. There is no reason why I shouldn't be allowed to go to a dentist office around the corner from my house, and have to incur additional cost to be treated by their corporation, by having to take a bus or train or cab just to receive treatment. Well, this is my review of this single office and the treatment ( or lack thereof) that I have been receiving. I had a tooth that needed to be fixed. I went on a Friday, and the dentist told me that the existing filling had to be redone. So she x-rayed me, removed the existing filling, and cleaned up the cavities. After that, she told me that I need a root canal and a crown, so she had me scheduled on Monday, and then filled the open tooth with temporary filling. When I came in on Monday for the root canal, a different dentist told me that she cannot do it and I have to go to a specialist. I was so confused and frustrated. I came in for my appointment hoping to have my tooth fixed ('coz you know, that's what a dental clinic is supposed to do), and I left with an open cracked tooth filled with disintegrating filling, and frustration and despair. How can you improve? First off, please put your patients' welfare on top of making money. I felt like the dentists who had me checked only wanted to look at it without any plans on actually fixing the problem, an just wanted to refer me to whoever. If I had known earlier that my tooth couldn't be fixed by them, I would have not allowed them to proceed with removing my existing filling; I would jave instead looked for a better dental clinic. Second, you can improve by getting better dentists. Third, don't give your patients false hopes by telling them that you can fix our tooth problems, then setting us up for appointments only to tell us that we need to go to another clinic to have it fixed. I don't think I'll be going back to this dental clinic. If I want my teeth fixed, I'd go look somewhere else. read more

This place is as horrible as all the "filtered" reviews say. I felt like i was in a dental horror movie. Dr.Rude/ Natasha somebody, stabbed my gums so bad i had to tell her she was hurting me. Her response was, "oh, you teeth are very sensitive", me: "no, you're just stabbing my gums really hard!", Her: no, that is your teeth that hurt." Ummm i think i knjow my gums from my teeth lady! We live in Boston but my family of 3 come to this Dr. Dental Office at Central Square for dental care since 2014. The services have been professional and fees have been reasonable. I liked one of the features, that DDS does cleaning for the patients in this office. By doing so, the Dentists can found problems more often. My wife had deep cleaning once. Then one more time deep cleaning under her gum. We are very satisfied with those deep cleanings. Before, the DDS Dr. Khanna was doing treatment work for us. She was BU Dental School trained. From 2016, we have Dr. Jain doing treatment for us. Dr. Jain was University of Michigan Dental School trained. We are very happy with both DDSs. They are well trained dental surgeons and very professional. read more

Came back from this dental office 5 minutes ago. I am very disappointed and feel cheated. I just relocated from North Carolina and two crowns came out during the weekend. I called this dental office on president day and they happened to have an appointment available. When I told them, I need to re-cement two crowns which were not done by them, but I have dental insurance with Delta Dental. They told me that they can't file insurance for re-cement and will charge me $53 for each crown. Since my crowns were done in North Carolina and other dental offices were fully booked, I have no other choice. I went to the office and double confirmed that my insurance can't be used and they charge $53 for each ($106 in total). After 25 minutes waiting, dentist came in and re-cement the first one. Because the second crown stays well with temporary cement, we decided to leave it there and re-cement it when it comes out again. During the check out, I was told by the front desk that she didn't give me the right quote, it should be $81 for one crown. She said she was looking at someone with insurance and $53 was for them. I need to go back to work, so I didn't argue and pay the balance. On my way to work, I was thinking, if re-cement can't be filed for insurance like what she told me before the treatment, where did $53 come from? Shouldn't they provide me the right price before the treatment? I haven't never seen a dental office like this and I still don't know if this treatment is covered by my dental insurance or not. I feel I was cheated and they overcharged me. I think I should share this experience with other newcomers.
