She verified that is what would happen when she re-confirmed the appointment. I never got any estimate for the knee wall, because he noticed we were not going to agree to cutting holes in the ceiling, roof and siding, in order to do the entire house. "I want to get you on the schedule today." He finally agreed to email(2) separated estimates. One for the knee wall the other for "demolishing our cape." Nothing....hard pressure sales tactics. We bought our home last December and quickly realized we were in need of insulation. When you buy…read morea new home it takes a while to get to know its quirks, what it needs and set a timeline for improvements. We put insulation at the top of the list. Our oil delivery costs for astronomical. The house didn't retain its temperature so one minute it was warm and the next very cold. The furnace was constantly coming on and off. A huge expense for our family. Once we had the insulation installed along with air sealing around our entire home we were hoping the next winter would go better. So now that it's winter we can say that our furnace does not constantly click on. Our home retains the heat. We set our thermostat at around 66 degrees knowing it will get up to 68 and sometimes 70 if we are cooking. Our oil deliveries have been way less gallons per deliver, we are using less fuel to maintain the heat in our home. Installers were professional. Clive and his team were very considerate of our home, keeping it clean with drop cloths and removing all the old insulation carefully to keep the house from collecting drops of it. It is amazing how they build up walls in the attic with a small space to walk. The air sealing in the basement has been nice because the heat in the finished portion doesn't kick on as much because its not being sucked out of the house. The job was done in one day. It was our first Summer in the house and we had the work done right before that, so I cannot tell you what a previous Summer would have been like but I can only imagine how hard the A/C must have had to work to keep the house cool. And, the cost must have been really high. Our A/C is in the attic so they insulated the duct work to each room as well. Keeping the air traveling in the duct work cool as it traveled from the a/c to the room. Meaning again, it doesn't have to work so hard to keep the house cool. Genius! I will post this on CT Basement Systems too because I think there are more reviews there for the insulation.

This was Dr Energy Saver/BlackDog Builders out of Salem, NH. I recently had all my windows and a…read moreslider replaced through them. The job took about a week and was left a complete disaster. Nails were left everywhere both inside and outside the house. This posed the biggest problem because I asked them to use the magnet sweeper to pick up all the nails, especially outside by the deck and the pool. Instead I paid someone to help remove the nails. Second major issue arose during my first winter with the new windows. Cold air was literally blowing through the trim and causing the curtains to move with the air. I called to report this issue and they removed the trim from 1 window and we could see outside from inside the house. None of the windows had any insulation around it. Fast forward 6 months and having saved 0 on heat, they removed all the trim again and i had to babysit them to ensure they actually put the insulation in. Calling DES in CT did nothing as each of these are independently owned and operated. I never received a call back from them. I had numerous calls into DES of Salem, NH with no calls back. Not only was the project manager non-responsive, but also the receptionist. I felt like a joke to them with the lack of caring and response. I had to google search the owner and reach him through his cell phone and other email address (Black Dog Builders, Salem, NH). He came out to review the installation and only saw a fraction of the problems. He showed barely any interest in the problems and i felt as though i was wasting his precious time. I think whats worse is that I never received an apology from either the local dealer or corporate for the poor job, not covering any furniture (notice the paint mark on my brand new couch). These photos below are just a small example of how terrible the job was. as an FYI, their price was similar to other companies. Ive regretted going through them and hope no one ever has to experience the saddest form of workmanship known to man. I pray this review helps others in choosing a company to replace their windows.

"Be on guard" The company pursued me because I googled…read more"handyman". I booked a Monday and was told it was 99.00 to look, but credited back if you accept the quote. However, last minute on a Sunday, I received a call from a tech that he had one last opening as it was to snow Monday. It was not an emergency, just a broken toilet chain. I just could not reach the tiny piece left at the bottom or use, no rush, no leaks. I have two other bathrooms. Be ware, their $99 quote is NOT inclusive of PARTS!!! It would be $497.00 EXCLUDING his pick up of parts from Home Depot. NOT parts on the TRUCK as I was TOLD. (The booking was really via a call center). Then he had the nerve to say it was a SUNDAY EMERGENCY I never requested Sunday at all. It was my only day off to relax. Roto Rooter advertised 7 days per week and with snow coming on a Monday , I expected my Monday to be pushed to mid week not at 5 pm last minute for a Sunday. I disagreed rejected the high quote and his need to go Home Depot, his time and gas he whined about so I called my friend, as I felt bullied and intimidated because his voice and manner became louder and pushy. In addition, he did not remove dirty boots as I asked him to because my 18 stairs are carpeted in white. By this point it was almost 5 pm. My friend told him "she does not want a rebuilt toilet " which the tech said was all he would do. Raising his voice he began to yell once my friend ( a builder) said "she can buy a new toilet for that". This toilet was not the original-or OLD as he implied it was. The man blew up telling him "you're from Tennessee," prices are a lot less there. I just paid him the 99.00 to get rid of him while my friend was secretly still on speaker listening in. Finally, he left. I called my bank noting he had no date on the so called contract. It was left suspiciously blank. I was advised by my bank to stop payment and to call the police. What a mess. SINGLE WOMEN please AVOID, I fell into accepting a call, then rescheduled to a Sunday when I booked a Monday not from a local Roto Rooter at all . All because the company's name was familiar to me.
