One star because ZERO isn't an option! Absolutely awful experience. I received almost none of the services Dr Head Spa advertises all over their Instagram. Instead of relaxing, the entire session was painful and borderline abusive. The woman performing my service repeatedly dug her nails into my scalp over and over. Not massage. Digging. I left with my scalp raw and tender, and it was still sore more than 24 hours later. There were no relaxing tools, no soothing techniques, just half effort massaging and constant scraping that felt like my skin was being torn up. Nothing about this was calming or therapeutic. It was miserable. What made it worse is that my sister in law, who booked the exact same 90 minute session and paid the same price, had a completely different experience. She received all the advertised accommodations and loved her service. I did not. Same booking, same length, wildly different treatment. I called to complain and requested a refund. They refused and instead offered a discount for another service, which makes zero sense since I do not live in state. Then they suggested giving the discount to my sister in law, who also lives out of state. Not sure how that benefits me at all. I asked them to simply refund my card for the amount of the discount they were offering. I was told they would ask and call me back. They never did. When I called again, they flat out refused to refund anything. Save your money and your scalp. Do not go here unless you want nine layers of skin scraped off your head and 90 minutes of pain instead of relaxation. This place is wildly inconsistent, unprofessional, and not worth the hype. read more

First time visiting a head spa. I reserved the appointment for a group of 3 and they were able to accommodate all of us at the same time. My service was done by Dora and she did an amazing job. My initial scalp analysis showed I had built up oil and dandruff. The after analysis was shiny and clean. My first time at a head spa and I must say...BEST EXPERIENCE! I have been having some issues with my scalp and Vicky left me with the cleanest head of hair i've ever had. Not only did she shampoo and condition my hair extremely thoroughly, but she massages my head, neck, and shoulders as well as a hair growth treatment! Was gifted a Hair & Facial Spa day. I've had many facials from other places. This was a general all around facial and was was nice, but I prefer a more individual facial with the specific skin needs that my face needs. This was my first ever hair spa treatment. I didn't have any issues with my hair or scalp. I have always wanted to try and I'm glad I did. It was like a deep cleaning massage for your scalp. Very nice and especially relaxing. I highly recommend having a Hair Spa treatment at least once. I did really enjoy it, but I would only do it again if it was a gift or some kind of girlfriends gathering. Facials, Foot Massages, Nails & Pedicures (Nails & Pedicure every two weeks Area One Nails Spa, Lonnie does all my nail services) going to Glen Ivy just for the Spa ( No Glen Ivy services not worth the money for the quality of work) are my thing always. ** Mother's Day head spa experience was marred by deceptive advertising ** I hate to go into this much detail, but I want others to know before having a bad experience. They also wanted my Yelp review, so here it is... * Despite pre-booking and confirming a 15% discount, the salon refused to apply it fully , claiming it only applied to the head spa with cash only and with yelp review, not the added facial. * Felt the services were rushed and overpriced, and the advertised discount was not clearly specified. Full review.... I was excited to book this as a Mother's Day present for my mom. I saw a 15% off coupon on their website as a "Mother's Day special" (it did not specify that it applied to any specific services). I took a screenshot because I had read another review saying they gave someone trouble honoring the advertised discount because they didn't have cash payment. Because of that, I also took cash, even though when I called and asked if the discount was only for cash payment, they said it would be okay either way since it was a Mother's Day special advertised on their website (but, of course, they preferred cash). I also paid a $20 deposit for booking, which was not a problem. When I called, I asked what the difference was between the 1-hour head spa service and the 90-minute service. They said 90 minute service included extra time for a neck and shoulder massage. So I booked both of us for 90 minutes. When we arrived (Upland location--their website labels this address as the Corona address and vice versa, which is confusing), I felt rushed during the scalp examination; she didn't go into much detail for either of us. When she started the head massage, she offered a mini facial for an extra $20, so we both added that on (thinking it would add more time for that added service, which it didn't--she squeezed it into my 90 minutes!). At the end, she spent about 5 minutes barely touching my shoulders and neck to reach 90 minutes, even leaving my hair damp and not drying it thoroughly. Then, at the end, when she went to charge me, she acted like they hadn't charged me the $20 deposit and didn't want to give me the 15% discount, even though there was a large sign behind her saying "15% discount for first-time customers," which we were! (I also had the screenshot from their website advertisement just in case) It did not say cash only or for head spa service only. She called her boss, and after getting the ok when she tried to show me her calculations (saying cash only and insisting I write a Yelp review on the spot to get the discount), she didn't apply the discount to the facial and then called her boss back again. The boss said the discount was only for the head spa treatment and that the facial was an added service that didn't apply so I told her they should specify that on their big sign and website. I was unhappy that this all happened in front of my mom. It also ruined the relaxed state we were trying to achieve after our service. Overall, it was not worth what they charged me. On a positive note, my hair was really soft, but it was still not worth our experience there, and I will not be going back. read more
