They quoted me 20 minutes on the fix and I came back to a fully functioning phone with an optimal battery again. This was about as quick and painless as a phone repair could be. They have lots of laptops in store that they're fixing and they sell used phones, laptops, and tablets as well. They have a wide selection behind the counter. Sebastian or Andy might reply to my 1-star review on Computer Tech Brooklyn and try to defend themselves, but it will never justify what they wrote on they receipt they gave me when I paid the deposit, "Deposit of $325.00 is refundable if I can't recover the data." Customers beware. Here's the long story: I sent in my hard drive for repair back in Nov 2023. Andy called me to meet up so I can pay him the deposit. (Weird that they request a deposit more than 50%) He said the hard drive will be done in 2 weeks. At first, everything seems promising. They update me everyday....until 2 weeks later. Hard drive was not repaired and I had to ask for update every week. Weeks turned into months. Months turned into 2 years. They had my hard drive for 2 years with no progress. Throughout the 2 years, I asked for an update every month. It took Sebastian over a week to reply, sometimes two, sometimes never. When I texted him that I will have to escalate this to the police, he replied right away. In the end, he sent my non-repaired hard drive back to me only. No refund. No further communication.

So it's been quite a while since I've needed to pay a visit to the Smart Addiction shop and now…read morethey are in a different location than those first times that I needed their help. Recently I miscalculated my stride on some steps and came crashing down with my mobile in my hand and while I wasn't injured, my phones corner glass was smashed. I was mad for the most part since the phone is only five months old and didn't have insurance on it. Before you chide me about that, I should mention that I've never so much as scratched a phone screen in the 25 or so years of using these devices. End of streak. So anyway after being scolded by Verizon, I headed to the Smart Addiction store which is also known as "iFixit New York, Bay Ridge" location to assess the damage and the cost to repair. Sadly, the screen for this particular model was not in stock and would need to be ordered. I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL since I rather like a large phone based on all the web and social media stuff I do. The other downside would be the cost of $300 to replace and repair this broken screen. They said the Google phones are costly repairs so the part was ordered and I waited a few days. Once it was in the shop they took my device for a few hours and all was good as new. The staff is friendly but as technicians they are more interested in getting the job done efficiently for the customer. I told them the exact happening that got the breakage for them to be aware in case such actions lead to other issues. It's always best to be honest with the technicians. If you spill something on a laptop, let them know, if you drop your phone out a window, let them know etc. All in all I am glad that they are here and I hope that its a while before I have to come in there again since I don't like breaking things. Another good option at this location in Bay Ridge is that they have one of those Go Lockers so you can direct Amazon, FedEx and more to so you don't miss a delivery while you are at work. Friday they told me it will be ready Monday, and so I took time off work Tuesday to pick up toward the end of the day. Now they are telling me 3 more days! WHAT?? I have no idea how they got this many 5 star reviews. They have done nothing trustworthy so far in this 30 day experience. At least be honest with people.
