So it's been quite a while since I've needed to pay a visit to the Smart Addiction shop and now they are in a different location than those first times that I needed their help. Recently I miscalculated my stride on some steps and came crashing down with my mobile in my hand and while I wasn't injured, my phones corner glass was smashed. I was mad for the most part since the phone is only five months old and didn't have insurance on it. Before you chide me about that, I should mention that I've never so much as scratched a phone screen in the 25 or so years of using these devices. End of streak. So anyway after being scolded by Verizon, I headed to the Smart Addiction store which is also known as "iFixit New York, Bay Ridge" location to assess the damage and the cost to repair. Sadly, the screen for this particular model was not in stock and would need to be ordered. I have a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL since I rather like a large phone based on all the web and social media stuff I do. The other downside would be the cost of $300 to replace and repair this broken screen. They said the Google phones are costly repairs so the part was ordered and I waited a few days. Once it was in the shop they took my device for a few hours and all was good as new. The staff is friendly but as technicians they are more interested in getting the job done efficiently for the customer. I told them the exact happening that got the breakage for them to be aware in case such actions lead to other issues. It's always best to be honest with the technicians. If you spill something on a laptop, let them know, if you drop your phone out a window, let them know etc. All in all I am glad that they are here and I hope that its a while before I have to come in there again since I don't like breaking things. Another good option at this location in Bay Ridge is that they have one of those Go Lockers so you can direct Amazon, FedEx and more to so you don't miss a delivery while you are at work. I started seeing these 2 black dots whenever i tried to take photos/videos w my 2yr old iPhone 6. I asked around and a friend recommended me to come here. I called before coming to make sure they have the camera in stock (just incase i had to replace it) and they did!! Walked in and met with Mike, who was very detailed and informative. He cleaned out the camera to see if the black dots are still there.. And of course it was! He told me the camera would have to be replaced, quoted me the price and started working immediately. I waited for about 15 mins only. After he was done, nomore black dots!!! Im so happy! Mike was informative becos he explained to me the number of reasons why the black dots may have started to appear on the camera (old, dirty, etc.) He ensured me that the new camera he replaced is original part so i shouldnt have problems again, but if i do, they have a 30 day warranty. I gave my laptop in for repair. Was told it would be ready in a week. Turns out they ordered the wrong part from China. When I then asked them to give me a guarantee it would be ready in a specific time, the rep on the phone repeatedly said "I can't do that. If you're not happy, you can take your computer elsewhere for repair" without me ever having brought it up. annoying and stupid! In the end I wound up staying with them. Laptop was repaired three weeks after I first dropped it off. They gave me $10 discount off the $150 original quote. I didn't want the discount. I wanted courteous staff--ones that have the decency to apologize when they screw up and do their absolute best to make things right, instead of suggesting that I "take my business elsewhere". read more

I can't recommend Smart Addiction highly enough. You will not find a cell phone/laptop repair shop that stands behind their work the way SA does or is as committed to quality. I had a cracked screen on a Galaxy S4. Max fixed it for me (in about an hour and a half) and all looked fine. He even explained to me how a smartphone screen attached to the LCD below - with double-sided tape. Who knew? Certainly not I. He then showed me the tape they used versus the 3M tape. As 3M is a huge company, I thought their tape would be a quality product. It was not. It came apart in my hands like thinly-spread bubble gum. The kind of tape that SA uses though, did not. It stretched, but did not break -- and that was with me applying a good bit of force. Most repair shops use the 3M tape or equivalents of even lower quality, I was told. And I believe it. Quality materials, quality work, I thought. As a salesman for a local manufacturer, I know this recipe well and was duly impressed. I can't tell you how many times customers get a quote from my company then end up going to a company in China to save money. Then, when they end up with an inferior product and come back to me when their cheaply made stuff fails, they are in a real lurch. So I took my phone home happily. However, the next day, there were complications. The touch screen response was laggy. So, I took it back the next day. They did it again, and again - all looked perfect. Later when I charged the phone, the same thing happened - this time the touch screen went completely dead. So, I went back the next day. Michael apologized for my issue, took the phone apart, and after a while, determined that the wire that controlled the communication between the phone's motherboard and touchscreen/control buttons was malfunctioning. It would have been easy for him to say "this problem is not our fault and had nothing to do with your screen" and either say he couldn't fix it or charge me an additional amount. That did not happen. Michael had his motherboard specialist look at my phone the next day, and the specialist worked his magic. That evening I had a phone that was as good as new with a new protective case and touchscreen film thrown in. You will not receive anywhere near this level of customer service at your typical fly-by-night repair shop where the people do not even give you a receipt and might or might not be able to explain to you what is going wrong with your phone (so you can understand). Also, the repair could be fine, but, you can bet on the cheapest possible tape/adhesive will be used. So, you must ask yourself, how long will it last? If you opt to save 10 dollars or so and go to one of these places just know that things might not turn out the way you want. Go to the pros first. Don't get screwed somewhere else and then end up going to SA to fix someone else's mistake (and have to spend even more time without your phone.) These guys know what they are doing, use top-quality materials, and take real pride in their work. They made sure I did not leave their shop unhappy. I cannot image anyone having a negative experience here if you realize smart phone repair can be a difficult and tricky business. 90% of the time routine repairs come off without a hitch, but 10% of the time they don't. But if there is a hitch, these guys will go above and beyond to solve your problem and get you and your phone back out there, good as new. You can't ask for more than that. read more

Really fantastic!! I couldn't hear anything on my phone unless it was on speakerphone. I tried adjusting audio settings, doing a factory reset, none of it worked. I brought my phone to Smart Addiction and the gentleman there took a look at it, gave it a clean, and it started working again! Super professional and he didn't even charge me (meanwhile he saved me a good $200-400 from not having to buy a new phone since I couldn't figure out what was wrong)! I live all the way in Sheepshead Bay, and needed a phone repair store quick because my iPhone screen was falling to pieces, and you could start seeing the inside of my phone. The first result that popped up under "iPhone Repair" was this place. I walked in and handed my phone to a very handsome gentleman who told me that it'll be about a 40 minute wait. I asked if I could wait in the store because I can't really go anywhere without my phone. The wait took only 15 minutes - which was really quick (probably because I waited in the store). $80 for a 5c screen replacement, PLUS I checked in and got a FREE glass screen protector!! I'd recommend going here. I was skeptical about having anyone fix my phone, but I'm glad I put my trust in Smart Addiction. read more

These guys are the real deal. I was always a fan of heading up to 8th Avenue China town to get my stuff but I read the reviews here on Yelp and gave them a shot. Back in like October of '13 ... My Galaxy S4 outer screen cracked I tried to fix it myself and I screwed up the LCD screen, lol. I called them up guy named Mike picked up and helped me quickly. I dropped my phone off Wednesday evening and I had it back Friday afternoon LED replaced, new color front screen like I wanted and all for a very decent price! Then... in January... smh... I saw a cooler in my backyard and when I opened it I saw some beers, shared one w the wife and we left the house to go take care of some chores.... five hours later... I couldnt find my phone because it fell in the ice cold cooler that was sitting outside! I put it in rice and after 2 days the phone would turn on but wouldnt charge properly. I called these guys up and I brought the phone in they tried the most basic fixes first... no luck... He sent it over to one of his technicians and they couldnt fix it... but during this time they were nice enough to give me a loaner phone which got me through the days... They suggested another technician they had and they sent it to him... The guy fixed it in a few days and I had my phone back! and for $15 less than the original cost!! These guys are legit. We've taken several phones with cracked screens for repair, and yes they do unlock service. These guys have integrity -- they quote you everything before you pay. They ask you before starting work on anything. There is no hidden anything. They communicate, communicate, communicate. In fact, I brought in a phone with multiple issues and they did everything, fixed screen, etc., and they called me to tell me an entire row on the keyboard wasn't working. "But you can fix that, right?" I asked. "Well, yeah. But it will cost you a little more money to get those keys to work." They offered an alternative (buy another phone) which I appreciate; it's one of those customer service things that these guys get -- and you walk away knowing you can do a) b) or c). So now my phone is on queue for a diagnostic quote to get this last thing priced and hopefully done. I was having a problem with My iPhone Where I was not able to fit a charger Into it and realized that there was something jammed into the area so I went to a local repair shop and they told me they needed to replace the entire charging port for $50, which didn't seem right as I was able to see that there was something wedged in the area. Allright.. so I shattered my iPhone screen, just like we all have at some point in time (or at least if you're looking at this review). Living in Bay Ridge -- I believe the closest Apple store is in the city or somewhere in Staten Island where you'd end up having to drive and pay for Verrazano Toll.. The Apple store quoted $110-115 (for iPhone 6) where as this place quoted me $125.. I figured the extra $10-15 would be in return of the convenience factor of being just down the block from my house, so I decided to pull the trigger and give these guys a shot. When I got there, I was greeted by the owner himself who was very friendly, took a look at my phone and started working on it immediately. We had a brief conversation about some restaurants in the neighborhood when he says that he's all finished. Included in the $125, not only did he repair my iPhone on-the-spot within 10 minutes, he throws on a complimentary glass screen protector of your choice. All in all, I was very impressed with the customer service, quality of my new screen, and convenience of this repair shop. Definitely worth the extra $10-15. read more
