Dr. Laufer has two offices: one in Brooklyn and one in Cortlandt. This review is for his Cortlandt office. The waiting room always seems to be packed, so bring a book or magazines with you (unless you love reading AARP Magazine). I've noticed that when the wait is especially long, that Dr. Laufer has been a bit rushed in speaking with me, but his exams are still thorough. He has always kept an eye on anything unusual with my skin (apparently people in their 20s are not immune to melanoma) and he urges his patients to stop using indoor tanning booths. He's an interesting doctor - he's a vegan and I've followed some of what he does nutrition-wise (on my own accord, not because he told me to) and have noticed a significant improvement in my skin. He also converted his car, which originally ran on diesel, to run on filtered vegetable oil. So cool. He's awesome. read more

Dr. Laufer and his staff are exceptionally prefessional and empathetic. He is focused on resolving your dermatologic needs. And yes while at times you might wait he gives each and every patien the amount of time needed so I never worry about waiting as I always get the attention needed UNLIKE othe practices which see you for about 5 minutes, collect their copay and reolve nothing. Dr. Laufer has resolved several dermatologic issues that I've had to endure for over 50 years.He and his staff are a God send! read more

One of the nicest doctors I've come across. Genuinely cares about his patients. Have been there several times and never had a problem.

Doctor Laufer is the best doctor. He is very experienced and professional,pleasant and helpful. But the front desk people are completely opposite. They are rude and unprofessional, ignore any problem and people. Waisting time themselves and patients, never care about people needs. Horrible customer service. Waited for 1 hour and 10 minutes without any indication of when I would be seen; staff was unhelpful, not answering my questions and unapologetic. I left without being seen by the doctor, burning an afternoon out of work to be at this appointment. My career and time is just as important as yours, Dr. Laufer. Also, after leaving and complaining to family and friends, I learned for many others that they too had experienced incredibly long wait times and rude staff and have also decided not to return. Save yourself some time, literally...don't use this office. read more

Dr. Laufer is hands down the best dermatologist I've ever been to. He was completely thorough during my skin cancer check and spent a nice amount of time answering my questions and concerns. I currently live in LA and would only come back to Westchester to see him. Usually dermatologist spend 5 minutes and have you in and out, but Dr. Laufer took his time & was super Precise. I'm glad to have found such a great doctor. read more

Knowledgeable, personable, professional. Only Dr I've been to that has personally addressed me on the phone when I have questions, is his own secretary at times, and is both intelligent, polite, professional and humorous all at the same time. A smile that can brighten anyone's day. The wait might be a long at times but it's worth the wait! My mom had psoriasis for 28 years switched skin doctors multiple times over the years but she came to one of my visits with me and while in the visit he took us both (even though she was a new patient) same day and worked out payment plan with my mom due to her high co-pays. His treatment suggestion not only got rid of moms psoriasis but also brightened her spirits from hopelessness over the years. Worth the wait and worth the money! read more

Nope, not for me. I had an appointment for 9:30 am and showed up promptly, a few minutes early. I proceeded to sit in the waiting room for.....50 minutes! There was no problems or emergencies that caused this, it appears to be standard practice for this person. When I was finally ushered into a treatment room, I was told there were at least two people in front of me. For the life of me, I cannot imagine why a Doctor would be so rude to have people arrive an hour before they are to be seen. It is disrespectful and rude, not to mention self-centered. Well, I left and don't plan to return. I will look for a dermatologist with a little bit more caring for patients' time and health. read more

Cursed by Dr's stuff I have been seeing Dr. Laufer for a few weeks now. He has prescribed therapy for me that must be done in his office twice a week. Yesterday on 10/16/2012 I went and his office was full as usual. I told the nurse that I am for a therapy, which last 3-5 min total, how long is the wait because I need to pick up a child from day care. I was told that usually the wait for procedures is not long. As I was waiting a gentleman who was also waiting had to remind them that he is waiting for therapy and they forgot about him, he was called in. As time passed, no one called me. I went and asked for another appointment because, I needed to leave. The front desk told me that I will have to wait again if I come next time, to which I said that I did not have issues with wait time for therapy before. They told me that they cannot guarantee that I will get in for therapy during my next appointment because there will be a line and I cannot skip a line. I was trying to explain that I am not trying to skip a line; I am trying to get therapy and get better and that I was also told that the wait is not usually long for therapy. I also did say that I am not happy with their customer service skills and was told that if I want to complain I can speak to a manager who is not in today or a Dr. if I stay in line. I was also told that this is a way how Dr. and manager run the office. Among other things, I was told that there is someone else in a room doing therapy, to which I said yes and he was waiting for awhile to get in and then I was told that he was waiting for 15 and that he did not have to remind them that they forgot about him and then they proceeded denying that someone would ever tell me that the line will not be long. Basically I should go back and wait for therapy. So the concept that I cannot wait forever does not apply in that office. Then the nurse out of nowhere told me "Oh fuck you" and left and told another nurse "shut the door on her face." If I would not have to pick up my son from day care, I would have stayed in line and tell the dr. what happened. read more
