Horrible. I just switched over to Dr Carillo thru HPSM because I no longer wanted to be a member of NEMS. I've called her office numerous times throughout the day for the past week and a half since switching over. Left several messages because I need to be seen ASAP and I know schedules are booked out months ahead. I have health issues that are concerning me and need to be addressed immediately. I need an appointment and had selected Dr Carillo out of the pool of PCPs HPSM had to offer, yet this office seems to not care about returning new patient calls. I'll have to call HPSM and switch to an office whose staff are on top of it cause this office is not it at all. read more

Horrible office staff and unprofessional. After waiting for months to secure my initial appointment with the doctor, and on the day of arriving at the office, I was told that I needed to be rescheduled as the doctor does not see patients on the day that I have scheduled. I had to wait another month to be rescheduled. Finally got the doctor to see me, and prescribed a prescription but upon hearing from the pharmacy, they needed to reach out to the doctor for further information on the prescription. It's been two weeks since the prescription was submitted, and the doctor has not responded to the pharmacy's message. I would avoid going to this doctor and deal with the office staff. Find another doctor but not Dr. Carrillo. read more

I've been with Dr. Carrillo for five years and I really like her as a physician. She listens... she really listens... that is huge. We discuss my health and concerns, wishes, etc. I feel heard and respected. I do think sometimes the office gets overwhelmed. When I'm talking to them they are always great but it occasionally takes a bit to get through. read more

My sister passed away because she ignored her symptoms. She did not order the appropriate test for her. As soon as we transferred to another md who ordered everything she was then diagnosed of stage 4 stomach cancer. She did not diagnosed her condition which resulted to her suffering and death. She was her md for 8 years. She did not even suspect that unexplained weight is one of the earliest symptoms of cancer. How can an md with years of education ignored this. If she only diagnosed her early she would still be alive. God knows the truth. read more

If you like being kept waiting for an hour or more past your appointment, an office staff that couldn't care less about you, phone calls that are never returned then this place is for you. This is by far the worst medical staff I've ever dealt with. The woman who I've interacted with over the phone is horrible. She does not care one bit and she doesn't even pretend to listen. I found out during my first visit that they booked 4 patients for the same time with the same doctor. To top it off, the doctor wasn't even in the office. My appointment was for 9AM and the doctor didn't arrive until after 10:30AM. The staff didn't even bother to call the doctor until I was going to leave. When she arrived, she rushed through my appointment. I went in for a physical and she spent 10 minutes with me. When I was done, she explained that it's difficult to get through to the office, so if I need a follow up appointment, I should schedule it several months in advance. It was a very disappointing visit. I'm not confident that I'll get quality care. The office was very outdated and seemed very dirty. The medical equipment was faulty and the Medical Assistant made inappropriate comments. I felt very uncomfortable and was made to feel like I was inconveniencing them for showing up to my scheduled appointment. I will be contacting my insurance carrier to request a new Primary Care Physician. read more

I recently got my health insurance and chose this doctor as my primary care physician. I called the office many times to get an appointment so she/he, I'm not sure if this doctor is male or female, could prescribe medicine for a very bad cold. I got their answering service each time and left them messages which no one ever responded to. After a week, I called my insurance and changed my doctor. What a nice welcoming they had for me! Dr. Carrillo has been the primary care for my wife for many years now. She still is and my wife in unwilling to change. About the only negative thing I can say is the insurance and referral person can had problems at times managing tasks well. But otherwise I would recommend Dr. Carrillo as primary care to other looking. read more

The least professional office I've ever seen. About to file a complaint with the state. I've been waiting 7 months to get one appointment. The front desk lady with the trashy wrist tattoo shouldn't be hirable in any profession let alone the medical field. I've been waiting 6 months for an appointment. The day of my appointment they call me first thing in the morning and say that the doctor decided WEEKS AGO to go home 20 minutes before my appointment twice a week. The next appointment they offered me was an additional 4 months down the line, almost a full year from when I made the first call. Due to my own technical error I missed the second appointment and was met by the same super rude front desk lady who told me missing both appointments were my fault and maybe she could fit me in for a 6am teledoc appointment. This is my intake appointment, a physical yearly checkup, can somebody explain to me how that's supposed to be done over the phone?? Dr. Carillo, if you're unable to make appointments, just retire already. Additionally, while I was in the waiting room a senior woman came in and said the office wasn't returning her calls so she physically had to come in to hound them. Since the onset of the attacks on Asians I noticed this doctor's bedside manner and disposition has changed towards me and other patients I know. Dr. C. I have not and do not know of anyone who has mistreated or attacked Asians so please adjust your non chalant rude manner, restore your interest in the best of my health and drop the lack of interest, for no reason, in attending to my health needs. You took a Hippocratic Oath to help everyone. If you don't have this problem, good for you. Oddly enough, despite the reviews, I find the staff there good and professional. I started to see Dr. Carrillo after Dr. Cajator left the practice. You call and leave messages on her assistants voicemail, no return calls. You call the office and leave messages no return calls. Pharmacies try to fax approval for medication, no response from the doctor or her office. You have receptionists that are not medically certified making decisions, you try every avenue to get a hold of Dr. Carrillo and you get no response. Its ridiculous that it takes months of no responses, and when you call and get someone on the line, the office staff hang up on you and you get no call back. The entire staff is unprofessional. Including the doctor, you make appointments and she does not even show up to the calls. And the cycle continues as you call and leave messages and get no responses or your medication does not get refilled. read more

I was randomly assigned this doctor and was persuaded by the excellent reviews on here to give it a try. I had sudden, acute symptoms so they got me in same day but not for Carrillo, but with her on-call doc in the same office. So I haven't seen Carrillo (and won't) but I did go to the office, interact with the staff, and the on-call doctor. And..... It was preeeettttyyyy ghetto. I switched from Kaiser intentionally for more options in my medical care and this place was about 10x more horrible than Kaiser but in a very different way. If Kaiser centers are cold, institutional, impersonal, and unfeeling machines, this place had the feel of a back alley clinic, or maybe like, a bus station where they also offer medical 'care'. I could go into more detail but lets just say I called my husband sobbing on the drive to the pharmacy and by the time my prescription was filled I had researched and chosen a new primary care physician. I mean, if you don't have any choice in your healthcare, then you could probably go here and not die. read more

I have been with Dr. Carrillo over 20 years and she is as good as they get. What office doesn't have waiting times especially if the doctor is good. I still travel all the way from Newark to see her and she has always been professional and most of all compassionate when it comes to listening and taking care of my sicknesses and I do mean as you hit over 40 years you find out pains that you never knew you had. I would recommend her to anyone who would like a doctor that listens and who is patient and understanding. Again, most good things you must wait for a while but the best thing to do is to schedule early morning or right after their lunch and you will be seen fairly quickly however is you schedule on Friday afternoons and Mondays expect a wait time because that is when most people go to the doctors. read more

Whenever I go here I ALWAYS without a doubt wait at least an hour for her. It's really annoying. Granted she's a good doctor, you would think her staff as well as herself would work on time management. I'm that bored to be writing this review on my iPhone while waiting for her. Yep, it's been more than an hour and I'm still waiting in this morbid looking waiting room. What to do? I already played an hour of Plants vs Zombies. Come on people!! Update: After a 2 hour and 5 minute wait she saw me in a matter of 10 minutes. Note to self, stop being lazy and change doctors already. I've been seeing Dr. Carrillo since a serious auto accident 8 years ago. Since I'd been healthy and doctor free for the first 50 years of my life I cannot comment on how she compares to other doctors. I have no complaints about her treatment(s). The difficulty lies in how her office is run ... and it's getting worse. My read of the situation is this: She has a lot of patients. Often appointments are double booked. And patients are seen in the order they sign-in. That includes drop-ins. So if you arrive on time but someone with a later appointment arrived before you, they are seen first. The wait is at least an hour and I've waited as long as 2.5 hours to be seen. To facilitate freeing some of the doctor's time staff has been added. It is no help. As an example: a nurse now writes the prescription which means waiting until the doctor is between patients to get it signed. Hmmm ... writing this review has me rethinking my choice of doctor. read more

I would rather give her no stars because she is just soooo rude and VERY unprofessional but since i have to put something i gave her 1. She is always in a rush and extremely condescending. She makes you feel like you are just over exaggerating and don't know your body. I told her I've been having extreme pain in the pit of my stomach and that I have had an attack and just took some Tylenol because I didn't know what it was. I mentioned that I took 3 before the pain subsided. She literally told me that if i had another attack i should take Tylenol until i don't feel anymore pain. Are you effin kidding me?!?!?! A couple days later I ended up having an attack again and said "screw this, it's too painful. I'm going to the ER" they admitted me and a few days later I had my gallbladder removed. When the surgeon came to see how i was doing he asked me if I had pain before and I told him of course I have, he said that is dangerous, why didn't you see a doctor? i then mentioned to him how my doctor told me to take Tylenol until the pain went away. He said if I would have done that I could have died from liver failure!!! WHAAAT?!? so, in order to keep yourself alive.................. STAY AWAY FROM HER!! read more

This review is for the staff, especially Dana the medical assistant. I've been seeing Dr Carrillo for a long time, started seeing her even when I was in perfect health but needed sleeping medication from working nights as a nurse. I only filled the prescription once and never needed it. I continued to see her yearly because I'm one of those that would ask for my blood tests done. Then I got diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, had surgery, then went through depression. Dr Carrillo is a great MD who listens. The staff, however, is terrible. I'm a nurse at a trauma ICU, and I don't talk to my patients and their families the way they have spoken to me. I'm sure they don't realize I work in healthcare, and I think they talk to almost everyone this way based on the many reviews. Three years later, cancer came back and I need another surgery. I call the office so I can get anti-anxiety and sleeping medicine, find myself getting anxious at work. I also inquired if they got the reports from the surgeon and endocrinologist, notifying my PMD about what is going on with me. Dana the medical assistant says, "It is not our responsibility to follow up on you. This is your health, this is your responsibility!" I am flabbergasted and appalled by the response. I or my peers at the hospital would never talk this way to our patients and their families. And this is the conversation at 930am, too early to be stressed out already. To her statement, yes this is my responsibility, that is why I have been seeing a specialist since my thyroid cancer who is following this part. Went through so many tests, now I'm waiting for my upcoming surgery date and find myself getting more and more anxious. Reminded them that I normally get reminders to see the MD yearly but I don't get the reminders anymore. The response is, "This is your responsibility!" I am 41 and hate to change my PMD based on her staff, but am considering this now. Someone who is dealing with cancer, depression, anxiety don't need to be aggravated just from making an appointment. They need to be more empathetic because the patients are keeping Dr Carrillo for a reason (or many reasons), thus are going through a rough time. I started seeing the doctor as a healthy person, now I'm having surgery for the second time. So my problem is temporary, my stress and anxiety should come down after surgery. Those with chronic problems such as diabetes, hypertension, I feel for them because they have to deal with the horrible staff more than I need to. I can't wait to talk to the MD about this but she is out of town for 2 weeks. read more

The issue of waiting for over 2 hours outside of the office for someone to call you is no joke. Then once inside you have to wait another 2 hours to finally see the doctor; another nightmare.. when Dr. Carrillo finally sees you, it's only for about 5 minutes or so. The office is staff is crude, they lack an ability to deal with patients in a civil manner. I think they should be replaced. At the moment I have no medical insurance but needed a refill on a prescription the Dr. Carrillo originally gave me. However, she refused to refill my prescription unless I was to see her first. She knows how important the medication is, and yet continues to be difficult. I am definitely going to consult with a NEW PHYSICIAN. read more
