Brought the kiddos in for the buying of the first pair of Docs moment and was super impressed by how great the staff was with them. Once the staff realized this was their first pair of docs, they did an awesome job of breaking down the different styles and fits and answering all of the questions. Kiddo #1 found the docs they wanted in about 2 minutes and was good. Kiddo #2 took quite a bit of time deciding which pair they wanted and had a bit of trouble finding the right fit. The staff was extremely patient and we never felt rushed. It was a great experience for all of us and the kiddos love their Docs. read more

Went in here in February 2020 (pre-pandemic) with a teen for her first purchase of Dr Martens, and it was one of those remarkable retail experiences you remember fondly. Personally helped by the store manager, we started the visit by mentioning this was her first pair of Dr. Martens, and that was all it took. The manager gave her an overview of the fit and high points of the different styles (traditional vs. new models) and treated her like the only customer in the place. The Seattle store is centrally located downtown near Pike Market, and has a fairly wide selection of Docs. Wish I could recall the managers name, but he was thoughtful and patient. It was about as good of a first purchase experience with a brand as you could have. All we can say is thanks. I had a pair myself back in the day, so feeling nostalgic at this purchase, and if you can believe it, she bought her Docs to complete an outfit for school debate try outs --style points for sure! read more

What a joke! I will never step foot in this store again nor buy Dr. Martens again - not only because of what happen today - the staff was very rude! Man and women (blond wearing all orange) behind counter. I show them the broken zipper on my shoes (worn 8x NO sign of wear on the shoes) and both their response "oh well our zippers do that", with the blonde giving a sucks to be you look while saying it. Well you sure didn't tell me that when I bought them! My only option AND I HAVE A RECEIPT is exchange, NO store credit. Well that really sucks when you want NO style they currently have. So I settle on a pair of tennis shoes, oh sorry the guy says you have to spend the same or more. Okay so I need to spend $60 more dollars, I get a belt, now $5.96 left to spend. I said keep it I'm not worried about $5. He refused, it has to come to zero or more, so I waste money on shoe laces and pay another $1. There is NO reason I could not have been given store credit. I would still buy your product but when it would be convenient and what I wanted. Instead I settle on something I don't want and now will never buy your products again. You have lost a customer for good, and don't mind that I spent $500 back in November because I didn't buy 1 pair of shoes I bought 4! I will be contacting headquarters as well. read more

With that aside I went into today to try some pairs I saw online to decide which to get and I was greatly helped by staff not only getting those pairs to try, but also deciding which ones to get. They definitely went above and beyond. Also +++ points for having almost each pair I was looking for. I remember when the Seattle Doc Martens shop used to be located at 1509 2nd Ave. Six-odd years ago, I purchased a pair of pewter leather shoes here that, still, even to date, were and are the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned. And to this date, I still get compliments on them (and this is after 6 years of heavy wear and tear, too). This newer site is larger and "hipper" (for lack of a better word), with a lot of trendier DM styles and varieties in footwear (with more womens' and kids' shoes), and accessories, too (lots of cool socks, and amazing leather bags and purses and satchels). The ladies who work here are very attentive to the customers, despite how busy the store might be. My friend from out of town came here with me and she tried on a ton of different shoes and boots and, even the store was crazy busy, we were attended to quite well! In fact, more than one saleslady approached me, asking if I needed help, and it appeared that everyone in the store was being helped, too. As for the product line, what can I say that hasn't been said before? DM shoes are SO well-made, and SO comfortable, they will last for years (so be sure you love them!). The women's line is narrower in the toebox so I prefer the "unisex" line of shoes and boots, that are designed for both men and women alike. My friend got a pair of what I call "ass-kicking boots", with the iconic yellow stitching around the trim and the bootstraps. Like the pair of shoes I got nearly 7 years ago, the second my friend tried on these boots, she said they were the most comfortable she had ever tried on in her life. Like they were made for her feet. Sizing of shoes differs from standard Americanized sizing, so I recommend trying shoes on in person to ensure fit. Super store here. Love the shoes and boots. Have loved them for over 30 years. Went into the store for the first time in 5 years to buy 3 or 4 pairs of shoes/boots. Found one pair for my partner, but I personally had one of my worst retail experiences ever so we only bought the one pair. The staff seems to think they know my feet and my style better than I know myself. It got to a point of being outright offensive. Since ordering online for me is not an option as my feet are difficult to size properly, I guess I won't be getting Docs anymore. Shame to end a 30 year relationship with my most beloved footwear this way, but perhaps Dr Martens will find some competent brand ambassadors in the future. read more

I love Dr. Martens shoes, but this location's staff is terrible. When I went there last weekend, there was only 1 other customer, but none of the staff greeted me. I stood there for more than 5 minutes while the staff stood behind the register glanced over at me a few times, and eventually a woman came over to ask if I needed help. I said, "may I try a size 6 and 7?" She replies, "6 and 7 in mens or womens?" I reply, "6 and 7 in womens, please." She PUSHED past me to go towards the staff room without asking me to wait, let alone say, "excuse me." She returned with a size 7 and 8, although I asked for 6 and 7, which I repeated. When I was trying them on, she was explaining to me that they will feel tight. I told her that I have had Dr. Martens boots before, so I understood that. She said that I would get blisters. Again, I've had Dr. Martens boots before and I understand the process of breaking them in. She spoke to me as if I did not know my own feet. In our whole conversation, she was extremely unfriendly for no reason. I was there 2 hours before closing, and the store was not busy at all. Whoever works on Sunday nights needs to learn how to handle customers. I highly suggest you go to a different location with friendlier and more professional staff. read more

What can I say? This is the only place I buy my shoes from! I've been wearing Dr. Martens exclusively since the early 90's and you can't go wrong with going straight to the source. They have an awesome selection, and the staff is really knowledgeable and helpful. I've been shopping at this location as well as their previous location for the past four years and have always had a great experience. Whether you're looking for boots, oxfords, or anything in between, they have plenty of styles and colors. They also carry accessories such as colored laces and cleaning/polishing kits. Don't expect to find deep discounts, though. It's not an outlet store, so everything is regular price. I haven't known them to offer any type of military discount in the past, but maybe they'll add one in the future. If you're in the market for a new pair of Docs, this is your shop. read more

I love Dr Martens, but I am not impressed with this particular store and their customer service. My experience was not the best here and I desperately hope that is not the case all the the time for others, or even at all. I had purchased a pair of Docs at another Dr Martens location ... I tried them on and walked around the store, following the advice of an employee. They seemed fine at the time so I purchased them. When I came home I wore them for a bit in front of my mirror and I realized they were too big, and I had already purchased the smallest size. In my mind, I was just trying on shoes inside like most people do because that is how you know if something will fit! I even purchased the inserts they sell and found that those were not helping... Cut to my visit to this particular store, just 2 days later. I figured I could return my shoes at this location since it is the same brand and wanted to make a simple return. I felt the manager was a bit condescending to me when I explained why the shoes were not going to work. He inspected the shoes and accused me of wearing them outside. I explained to him I had only worn them once at home and another time when I purchased them (at the advice of the employee at the time!). I understand that there are people who wear things and return them, but I am not one of them. I looked at the shoes myself and they did not have any wear whatsoever, just some dust-like particles from the tissue paper that the shoes are packed with... whatever. I'm not so much annoyed that he accused me, I'm more annoyed about how the accusation was said, and the other part of my annoyance comes from the fact that I knew I was telling the truth. He did offer an exchange, which made no sense to me because if my shoes weren't good enough for a return why would they be good enough for exchange? Alright. Cool. I honestly was planning on returning another time when I had time to peruse but my experience just was so off-putting I decided to forget it and leave, forgetting to even glance at the name tag of the person 'helping' me. I ended up returning the shoes at the original location where they were much nicer about it. I never write reviews but this experience still irks me to this day. Was in the store for about 15 minutes and got absolutely no service. Everyone else in the store was greeted and asked if they needed anything. We got stared at and my boyfriend said one employee walked right past me and looked me up & down. Maybe they didn't think we had any money. But we came into the store with full intention of buying something for the both of us, and the employees made us feel like we were unwanted there. Staff was super rude especially the young blonde hair guy. I have been working sales for clothing and shoes for the past 10 years and never have treated a customer the way I was here, it was appalling. I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged by anyone. The young skinny guy with the blonde hair was wandering around and made eye contact with me but ignored me before disappearing in the back and coming back out with nothing looked like he was stalling for time so he did not have to assist me. Butterfly wing girl also wandered aimlessly not making eye contact or acknowledging me. Not even many customers in the store and they seemed overwhelmed. Finally when I got some assistance to try on shoes the guy who assisted me was very condescending when I asked about the sizing and he acted like he was going out of his way to help me. I asked what was available in a size 8 as to not waste time and he acted as though I was asking to try them all on when in reality I was trying to make the process faster because I literally wanted to snag a pair and get out of there as fast as possible. He was so rude I decided I didn't want help and no longer interested in purchasing. Both me and my partner were ready to purchase but I opted to leave because of the terrible service. No one acknowledged my partner either in the store. Really disappointed in the customer service here and left feeling bad. I went ahead and purchased used docs on poshmark instead. Way better deal (60% off) and no one was mean to me. read more

I would leave a zero if I could, went to return a pair of shoes that were not fitting correctly. Purchased at the outlets in Marysville and receipt says can be returned to any retail store. Store clerk would not honor that policy and would not let me return the shoes only exchange for higher priced options. Dr. Martens does not honor their own policies on purchases and I would suggest looking elsewhere. read more

I love Doc martens and I've been wearing them for 25 years. I recently bought a pair that were made in England that had a factory defect. This particular style of boots are no longer made in England so I wanted to get them fixed. I reached out to Doc martens and they told me that they have no repair facility and then I should take them to a local cobbler. I wanted them fixed by Doc martens so that they were done correctly and I was happy to pay. Looks like Doc martens are not what they used to be. What a shame. read more

The zipper on one of my magdelena boots broke about an hour ago. I work around the corner and stopped in to see what my options were. The staff member I spoke to was very nice and apologetic (wish I had gotten his name but he was tall with dark curly hair). In all honesty I was expecting to hear that there was nothing they could do as I had bought the boots about two months ago. But after a quick search through there sales computer and a trip to the back room I was walking out of the store in a brand new pair! After hearing great reviews about investing in Dr. martens for this winter, I decided to buy my first pair. Unfortunately the store staff was friendly but the disappointing part was that they seemed uninformed. I've done my own research online about how to choose the right size and how to break the boots now that I have my boots. But the young staff didn't bother telling me how to choose the right size since boots don't come in half sizes, they didn't tell me how to break them in - I ended up bruising my shin because I didn't wait long enough before wearing them for a long time period. The young girl told me to buy the oil but I was hesitant since she couldn't tell me how to use it and didn't explain the purpose of the oil besides saying it's good for the boots. Overall, I think you should do your own research before going into the store since the staff I saw were young college kids. These shoes are a big investment so I thought the store would at least bother having much more knowledgeable staff who can better guide people to owning their first pair. read more

Long time fan of the shoes. Unfortunately, the in store experience has been dismal on 3 recent occasions. Went in to pick up items I'd placed on hold. Throughout the whole encounter, sales rep talked to me like I was 5 years old & was extremely condescending. On subsequent visits, it took 2 reps & almost 30 minutes to find my on hold items. (Store was quiet with only 1 other customer shopping.) Again, the sales reps were condescending & rude. I suggest ordering online if you know your sizes. Worst customer service experience I've ever had with a company. Store staff was unresponsive in helping me get the correct size shoe while in store, barely even noticed I was trying to buy from them, too busy chatting. After voicing my concerns that shoe didn't fit right and being told multiple times that it would fit after I broke it in..... after 2 weeks of trying to break them in at home and it was very noticeable that the shoes were the incorrect size I took them back to the store..... The cashier scoffed at me like I was insane for trying to exchange the shoes for the right size, or even refund me even though I was clearly unhappy and felt lied to and not even given the time of day. Don't waste your time going into this location, order online at least they will be willing to work with you and get the correct size. Or at least I hope. I had a great experience at this store. I had done some light research online prior to buying my first pair of docs. I went for the 1460 BEX which they had on display and in stock. The staff greeted me as I walked in and within seconds I was trying some on and minutes later walked out with my first pair! As is the same for many people, my docs destroyed my heal after the first 24 hours and I came back the next day to see if they had any tips. I luckily got the same person I worked with the previous day, and she helped me out with some temporary heel soles to help break them in. She installed them to perfection and I can now comfortably rock my new docs. Overall very pleased and happy that I was treated nicely when asking dumb question. Great shop layout and design, friendly staff, and a great location. Very happy to have had as nice of an intro as I did into the Doc Martens family! read more
