I do not recommend this store. I was told my orthotics would take five weeks. But after six weeks, they had not even started on them. Two phone calls later, I was told that whoever told me it would take five weeks was wrong - Andy, long-time owner of the store told me this. This new person said it takes EIGHT weeks. He said there were still 100 people ahead of me - after six weeks?! Obviously, this store is short of workers and cannot keep up with the work load - or it is poorly managed. I suspect both. If you value your time, don't go here! read more

I have had trouble with my feet since I was a boy of 12 having to deal with Arch Supports,...now known as orthodics. I have had plantar fasciitis, Morton's neuroma and arthritis in my toes and another foot problem that causes pain that defies diagnosis. Fifteen years ago a Podiatrist recommended a certain NB shoe, 328 or something, that literally cured my PF. NB stopped making that shoe and I was bummed. I have not had a truly comfortable shoe since then. I limped into Anderson with my worn out Hokas and Valerie instantly knew what was wrong. She brought out a few different shoes and size combinations and found a miracle for me. They adjusted my off the shelf shoe orthodic slighty and put me in a pair of New Balance. Normally when I am on my feet for more than 3 hours I can't wait to get out of my shoes. I wore these all day that day and all day the three following days. When I got home last night I didn't want to take my shoes off they were so comfortable. I will never buy shoes anywhere else again. These people know how to fit you into the right shoe and they make custom orthodics. They took impressions of my feet and I can't wait to get them. It makes a world of difference having professionals fit you in shoes, especially Andersons where they have a focus on solving foot problems with the shoe selection to match, compared to minimum wage employees at the mall. When I came to Anderson's I could barely walk. The foot specialist misdiagnosed me and someone told me to go to Anderson's. First, they identified what was wrong with my feet, then they made me orthotics. I walk everywhere now, and just went back 5 years later to have a second set of orthotics made. These guys know their business, and they're willing to take the time to really find out what you need and then they deliver. read more

Got 2 pairs of shoes and it came out to over $400 which would be fine if I actually received them. I walked out with one pair and the other was getting shipped to me, I never got them. The blonde lady was very rude and unhelpful, she talked to me like I was stupid and a helpless child. I don't recommend going if you're part of the LGBTQIA+, I'm trans and it was just very awkward having pink things forced onto me because I look female 0/10 experience. I don't even want to bother getting a refund if it means talking to them again. read more

These people are miracle workers! Thanks to their skill and knowledge I can walk without pain. Using cork, they made custom support for my new shoes. Andy really knows his stuff! While the shoes are not cheap, they are very well made and last for a long time (and I am VERY hard on shoes!). If you are on your feet a lot or love to walk, I highly recommend a visit! I have been a loyal, longtime and supportive customer. Working in a hospital close by made it easy to buy good shoes for work. However, after my last experience, I will never shop there again. I bought $170 shoes where the glue came off after 2 months. I was wondering how the shoes will look like after another 2 months. First I was told that shoes have a lifespan of 6-12 months! (Seriously?? Expensive, high quality shoes??). Then, I was told by the owner that he is a small business owner and that there are sometimes bad batches of shoes! He offered to fix the glue, but refused to take my 6-12 months life expectancy, bad batch shoes back. I guess, it's just too bad that my $170 will go to waste. read more

I don't understand why this place has the ratings that it does. Good orthotics should be made out of hard molded plastic that does not lose shape over time. The ones that they make are made out of cheap cork glued together and they do not last and they charge over $300.00. You can get much cheaper and better orthotics online at places like TreadLab for around $70.00. For that price, you could get three pairs and still save money. I will put it very simply. Went in hoping for help and advice and choices -- the reason most of us go to a store like this. I think I ended up knowing more about my sales woman than she did about me. She simply couldn't stop talking about herself long enough to listen to me. She brought me ONE pair of walking shoes in my size, with no hope or mention that they'd get more variety in soon. The $150 shoes have been fine, but not the answer to my prayers by any means. This was a few months back, and I still think about the disappointing experience every time I put them on. Love this place. They know their stuff. I had ankle surgery and both times I've gone there they've picked out the perfect shoe to help. Recently I went to another store to get shoes that did not work out at all. But since I had worn them out I couldn't return or exchange them. Andersons stands by what they sell you. It is a slippery slope when you tell yourself that an ortho shoe is kinda snazzy. Today you are wearing red patent leather Danskos, tomorrow you are on TLC's What Not to Wear. I have to remain aware of this, be fastidious in my avoidance of the ortho shoe during non-work hours, otherwise this could be my fate. But at work I wear scrubs, so the Danskos are not the worst of my fashion problems. They offer 10% off if you are a healthcare professional on Pill Hill, which is a nice gesture. read more

I normally have excellent service here. The last two times, the wait was extremely long. I ordered the shoes I wanted. Totally my fault, but it took me Several months to get back to pick them up. The shoes I had bought were not there, and the salesperson insisted I buy a pair a full size smaller than I usually wear, saying that my current shoes were uncomfortable because they were too big, not too small. Of course the new, smaller shoes are unwearable. I was unable to return them (again my fault, I didn't wear them because it was wet weather in Seattle and by the time I tried them outside, was too late to return them). I regret getting talked in to the wrong size. read more

I found Anderson's footwear 4 or 5 years ago while visiting Seattle. I need an orthotic style shoe, yet I want fashionable shoes/boots. Within minutes the owner had diagnosed what would work with my ankle fusions and foot problems. He suggested custom-made orthotics that can fit into most shoes. If they can't fit a shoe, I don't need them. I have at least 3 pairs of orthotics that they make in the store and they are good to find a style that works for me and will tell me if a style I want won't work for my particular issues. They are friendly, knowledgeable, remember me from summer to summer. I think there are at least 3 generations now in the store. I love this store! read more

A shoe shop with a nice selection of high quality shoes. I tried on a pristine pair of expensive Pikolinos. The shoes that I paid for were not the shoes I tried on. The sales person swapped a pair of the same shoe that had been worn before, in place of the pristine pair. I was saddened when I opened the box to share my purchase with a friend. We both agree that the shoes in the box were not new.-- soiled soles and creases in the leather across the toes. The receipt indicates a sales price, but I didn't think that would mean I agreed the pay for an inferior product. In the future I will make my shoe purchases at an ethical retailer and never let the box/product out of my hands. read more

Competence and selection!!! I came to Anderson's looking for a walking shoe that didn't look like an athletic shoe. I came away with a solution to my swelling ankles, thanks to the knowledge and experience of my salesman. He took the time to analyze my situation more knowledgeably than the podiatrist!! The shoes he recommended allowed me to walk the city streets comfortably, with a spring in my step and NO ankle swelling. I will be forever grateful to Anderson's for making this my best vacation. Great selection of shoes for problem feet - only they carry stylish and cute ones, not the uglies you'd expect. When I came in the first time they suggested a perfect shoe - wasn't even wide width so I wouldn't have even looked twice at it. But for the bill. I can see why it's located right near hospitals as they have solutions galore for all-day wearers. When I was there a UPS driver came in and chatted with the sales lady and raved about the shoes she'd gotten there - and comments from UPS drivers on shoes should be weighted quite seriously! I came in a second time to buy the same Merrell sneakers I'd worn out two years ago, and they had another identical one in the back. That never happens to me. Great shoes, friendly staff. Second time visiting this store and not happy with the service. The owner was not at the store that day, as he was helpful on my first visit. When my group walked in, we were not acknowledged by any sales associates, even after looking around the store for 15 min. I had people with me that wanted to spend good money shoes that day. Another customer came in and was helped right away. It wasn't until that customer asked if we were next that Mike reluctantly helped us. He was not friendly and kept complaining to customers that it always gets busy after lunch and people wait to shop until after breakfast. The other female sales associate said nothing to my group and was not friendly as well. I expect to be greeted when I walk into an establishment at the very least. Won't be returning. read more

What an amazing experience! Andy was endlessly patient with me, pulling shoe after shoe to find the right fit, then adding orthotic and carbon shank to each to help me make a purchase decision. I brought my 88 year old Mom into the store and Mike was patient and kind while fitting her with two pairs of shoes. To top it off, I had misjudged my timing and had to leave for a meeting. Went here for the first time today looking for a pair of Brooks because I walk a lot and Brooks are great shoes for me. I was looking for a particular model which they didnt have, but Mike brought out another model and I loved them. I immediately knew these shoes were going to work. This is an old school store, locally owned. I like those 2 things and I like these type of stores. Mike was helpful in telling me about how my wear patterns on the old shoes I had worn in showed how I walked and how my feet are structured. I learned something. The place was hopping with customers the whole time I was there. Plus the shoes I got were no more expensive than they are online and I was able to support a local business that is within walking distance. This was a great discovery and is my new shoe store. I did not have an enjoyable experience at this store. The guy made me feel like I had the weirdest foot in the world. I called beforehand saying I was looking for a specific brand, or something that was similiar. I was told to come on in because that was their specialty. Well, when I got there, I was brought all kinds of shoes that were nothing like what I asked for. I was then told if I wanted to wear such a thick sock with my shoes then there was nothing they could show me. I mean, I normally buy shoes at Nordstrom because of their selection, but wanted to try out and support a local business you know. But, waste of time, made to feel like my foot was really weird or what I was asking for didn't exist. You carry the brand I wear everyday you just don't have much selection! read more

I am a person with a serious disability - rheumatoid arthritis for 60 years. Finding shoes that fit is a nightmare. I have spent endless money with little success. I went to Anderson's Shoes on Madison Avenue in Seattle. I brought two pairs of shoes that I had purchased (one from them, one from another vendor) that were not working for me. I was greeted with a warm welcome. They listened to my story and said "we can help you." They spent 90 minutes with me, making custom orthotics, including lifts in both shoes. I left the store with shoes that felt wonderful. Total cost - $30.00. Never have I been treated better. I give them my highest recommendation 5+. read more

I came looking for some comfortable nursing shoes. I had worn Dansko clogs when I worked at a restaurant, and although they provide good support for the bottom of my feet, they were rubbing against the top of my feet despite getting them stretched out at Nordstrom. Andy, the sales associate at Anderson's, immediately noticed that I had a really high arch, which was probably why the clogs were so painful. He brought out a couple varieties based on my preferences (Black color, easy to wipe down should they get soiled, not too bulky, etc). I ended up getting a pair of Danskos that had the same heel support as the clog, but with laces! Now the tops of my feet are as comfortable as the bottoms. Andy was very nice and helpful and they had quite a variety. Although not as fashion-forward as some of the other tennis/athletic shoe brands, the shoes here are definitely for function and comfort - which is what mattered most to me anyway. read more

I went here for my first pair of Dansko shoes for a new nursing job and I am so glad I came to this store. The owner himself helped me find the perfect pair. He used a shoe horn to put them on my feet, he took the shoes out in the back to hammer out an uncomfortable stitching that poked my heel, and he stretched them perfectly to fit my feet. He knew so much about shoes, I was amazed. For instance, he recommended I always wear shoes with laces rather than clogs because I have narrow ankles. Who knew? Andy is the owner/operator and a nicer, more patient, more knowledgeable guy about feet problems you never will find, especially in this age of on-line everything. Took my 91-year old mom there on three different occasions. She has congenitally deformed feet, beside arthritis and other foot problems. Has worn "special shoes" all her long life, yet Andy had knowledge and gave her tips about finding comfortable shoes that no one else ever had! He also sold her marvelous socks that made shoes fit so much better, toe-spacers, etc...All three pairs of shoes we bought there look good, and my Mom can wear them for hours in pain-free comfort. She is very, very fussy about style, fit, and comfort and Andy was so kind and patient with her..bringing lots of shoes until the right ones were found. I will definitely buy shoes myself here, also. read more
