Hey look, I've been a patron of this location since the Crescent Downworks days. I'm an out of shape old-guy skater nowadays (that means wearing anything skate related is a little suspect!) but I've always chosen to represent any local shops with their merch. I'm not local to Seattle anymore after living there for 20 years. I'm a sailor in the Merchant Marine on an Arctic research vessel that now lives in Saint Louis. I will always consider Seattle home and wanted to update with a new shop hoodie. I received one in the mail and it had a tear along the seam at the waist. I called to set up a return and the person who helped me (sorry can't remember their name) didn't hesitate and said a new one was in the mail. Needless to say in 2 days got my new one with nothing required of me. Long story short, 35th has always given quality customer service and it's good to know nothing has changed. Thanks! I don't typically publicly disclose this online, but I am a duck. As such, when I'm in Seattle I spend a lot of time kicking it with the boys on Duck Island in Greenlake. The problem is, there was literally no where to skate on Duck Island, and while the situation of duck human relations has really improved since the old days, ducks still have to deal with a lot of anti-duck discrimination when we try and skate in human parks. I have a Mallard bro who got jumped in Portland at Burnside once, and obviously I don't need to bring up the "no ducks allowed" signs at Venice Beach or Jefferson. That's why it was so great when some bros of 35th North actually built a bowl for on Duck Island. For humans it was a tiny mini-bowl, but for us avian-Americans it was some next-level Grindline Mark Hubbard stuff. I got a super gnarly smith grind to drop in to fakie disaster which I am fairly sure was an NBD, at least for a duck, and I also did a Christ air which is pretty hard with wings, frankly. I was bummed when the city took the bowl out, but I appreciate that 35th North still stocks duck-sized decks and apparel. Not so hyped on the down vests though. read more

Don't waste your time... they keep the good stuff for their friends. Waited outside 2 hrs before opening to get new released Nike SBs, and was told they didn't have any. There are so many things I can say about this place that have already been said. Yes, 35th North is the only shop in the area that gets Nike SB releases (AND their raffles often include optional additional entries that encourage people to donate to local charities and organizations). Yes, they welcome everyone and anyone inside -- I don't skate seriously and I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable or scrutinized when I walked in. Yes, you should support local and buy your gear here. All of these things are true and great, sure, but that's not why I'm writing this. I walked in today to purchase shoes that I managed to reserve in a raffle and came across a kid emptying his wallet to try and purchase a pair of Vans that he obviously really wanted. The kid looked to be 11 or 12, give or take a couple years. He must've been a couple dollars short, because he pulled out his phone to make a call to someone that I assumed was his parent, who likely said no to any request for extra money. He hung up looking dejected and looked at the guy behind the counter and apologized, saying he was a little short on money and could not afford the shoes. The guy behind the counter (who I believe is the owner) took a look at the kid and asked how much he had, then agreed to sell him the shoes for that amount. The kid was stoked and thanked the guy profusely, and when he left, I commented on the exchange and the owner was nothing but humble about it. "He was a nice kid and super polite, and I could tell he really wanted the shoes. The store will be fine." It was heartwarming to see. Now, I'm not encouraging anyone here to try a similar stunt or anything like that. Not at all. I just want y'all to know that this is the type of place you're supporting when you shop here. It's clear that they care about their community, and watching this exchange made my day. They have a lifelong fan in me. Good stuff, 35th. read more

Are you a sneaker pimp? Yeah - me neither! But my boyfriend is! Yesterday we went on a quick shopping spree to find some new tennis shoes. To me all Adidas look alike. To him weird details like the color of the stripes, the color of the sole, and even the thickness of the suede mean a lot of things. Hrmm.. ok! We walked in and he was ready to throw down some serious cash on a pair of Adidas. I looked at them and said, "I had a pair like that in junior high!" He quickly corrected me and informed me that this shoe is brand new and has never existed before last month. He proceeded to try the shoe on and speak to one of the sales guys there about this fancy shoe. They didn't have his specific size but the guy offered to make a phone call and see if he could bring the right pair in. After a few minutes on the phone (while I was petting a dog that was wandering around the shop) the guy returned and informed us that we could go back today and get the shoes in the correct size. We're headed there now! The price was right, they called and got the right shoe size, and had it brought over from another location. How handy! It was really a pleasure shopping here and they went the extra mile to offer great customer service. Oh - I also learned that next month this shoe will be available in BLUE. For a limited time only! Will and I went here to finally get his shoes. I was wearing an Abercrombie sweatshirt and a designer jeans so I didn't exactly feel like my sense of fashion belonged here but I felt like I fit right in when I walked in here. The shoes selection was pretty nice. I love the mural on the bottom of the shoe display. I could identify every one of the prints. Vans, Dunks, Superstars and Chucks. I sat on the comfy car seat and the store manager? 's dog came up and sat next to me, he was so cute! This is an amazing skateshop. They carry plenty of Brands(one of the only shops up here that carries upper playground) such as Nike SB. Vans Premium and Sundicate, as well as DVS, DC, Lakai, Manik. I called to ask if they had a deck 9.5 inch wide deck and they told me over the phone to "take your freestyling ass somewhere else kook" I don't know why they told me this but it was pretty whack of them to say. Psyco mike is very unprofessional for saying this so I'm not going to miss ever going there again. These guys saved Christmas and made me cool Auntie Beck! My niece is 12, a bit rugged and really active with her scooter, bike, and unicycle. It seemed a skateboard would be a fun next adventure. I never skated as a kid, so my knowledge is limited. I did some Internet research and decided on a deck that seemed cool, age appropriate and in a colour she liked. With that info one of the guys at 35th North started building her new skateboard. On Christmas Eve too! He asked me a few questions about my preferences; I don't know too much, so I told him to make it however he would do it for his niece. He was so sweet and explained everything to me. He really got into building it for her; told me the deck was designed by a skater from Washington and the wheels were really good and any pro would be happy on the board. My niece didn't actually ask for a board & I didn't ask her, so I was nervous. It was the hit of Christmas morning! If she wasn't sitting on it opening gifts she was learning the basics on the livingroom carpet and telling everyone about its local origins! It is still a huge hit! Every time I go to her house she rides up to me and shows me what she's learned. The guys even have us some great tips on girl skate groups & a skate camp. The staff at 35th North are amazing. Really friendly, totally know what they are doing and seem to enjoy thier jobs. Next time my niece is in the city I'm taking her to meet the guy who made her first board. Well done!!! read more

Terrible customer service, completely ignored by the staff that were deeply engrossed into a a skate video rather than focusing on their customers. I asked a gentleman a question about sizing and he wouldn't make eye contact me(again mesmerized by the screen.) really unfortunate because I saw a sweatshirt I really wanted even though it was $100 and I wouldn't be sure if it would fit I was willing to risk it if given some information about sizing. read more

I don't take the time to write reviews unless a business is really good or really bad, in this case VERY BAD. I should have suspected that something was amiss when I read all the effusive reviews on Yelp, which I gullibly believed were written by real patrons. Now it seems rather obvious that the shop employees and their friends have been distorting the Yelp reviews. I haven't ridden in a number of years, just moved to the area. The abundance of local skate parks (and Yelp) inspired me to visit this shop to purchase a full setup: complete board, new vans, full set of pads, and a helmet. I was expecting to drop $400 or $500 easy on what other Yelp reviewers described as a "great selection and customer service." NOT! When I went in there were two employees behind the counter. The black guy with the wet stringy afro couldn't break free from surfing the net on his laptop to help me, wasn't doing anything for customers. The other guy, the mousey looking white boy with the patchy beard and stoner eyes, was helping someone. I told him that I needed some help and waited patiently while he served someone else, knowing that I needed some personal attention and time for all that I planned to buy... Not only did this guy completely ignore me, he proceeded to wait on three or four other people (or more accurately BSing with some buds) and pretend that I wasn't waiting there at the counter. After ten minutes, I just left. I turned around as I walked out the door and can report that he did muster enough enthusiasm to smirk at me as I left. Real nice. Is it to much to ask that you be treated with respect and attention when you want to patronize a shop and buy products? I think not. There seems to be a common thread in some of the other reviews now that I read them in hindsight. This is a sneaker pimp haven, a corner shop to hang out at if your bud works there and you want to play cool, or a place to be treated rudely if you're expecting some real service. You would think they would try harder, given the fact that it is not even a very nice skate shop. I've been skating for 25 years and the selection here is pretty limited, both for clothing but especially for skate products. I hope many people read these truthful lines and avoid this place like the plague. Businesses that treat customers this way deserve to lose them and thereby do a public service by driving themselves out of business. read more

One of my favorite Skate shops in Seattle. Besides GOODS, 35th north have a very large and distinctive shoe selection. On top of that they ALWAYS have a nice sale rack. Whats also nice about this shop is that they carry ALL the skater brand, but thats not it....They carry the limited editions line of almost near every brand they carry. Dope shop none the less. It was always close to my highschool, so I'd always drop by and pick up some limited SB's or whatever goods they had going on there. read more
