I searched online for osteopathic doctor and found Dr. Sara Apsley-Ambriz. I learned about Osteopathic Manipulation Treatment (OMT) and she's proficient in this. Because she's a family practice, she typically does OMT on her existing patients. I appreciate it so much that she was able to see me specifically for OMT. My first visit was in March 2021 and she's been helping me ever since. It helps my fibromyalgia tremendously and I highly recommend her. She also has a great staff, who are always helpful.

When I searched for the office online two different addresses came up. I went to the wrong one. I arrived at their clinic at 3:48. The receptionist and the nurse assistant told me I was late and needed to reschedule because I needed to be there 15-20 min before. I told them about the address mix up. They proceeded to pull up a web search to show me I was wrong. Seeing that neither of these people were trying to help me I took the paperwork which they suggested I take home and bring back for my rescheduled appt. I stayed in the lobby and filled it out so that I could immediately give it to them. While I am filling out the paperwork both of them are talking about a cookie orders and the type of cookies that one of them will order for graduation. Neither of them were in any type of rush to do any work related tasks. I gave them the paperwork filled at 4:04. I repeat 4:04. As we are going over potential appt for rescheduling I ask them how long the appt will be because now I have to take time off from work - the nurse assistant says "15 minutes for us and 15 minutes with the doctor". I said "you are asking me to reschedule an appointment that is going to take 30 minutes when I could just be seen now?" She said "yes maam. It's our doctors. They ask we do this" - Also: 15 minutes for vitals??? How slow do they work??) These two people are extremely unhelpful. They very much gave the vibe that they did not feel like working, I was an inconvenience and they wanted to leave on time. I didn't have a chance to meet the doctor - so I can't give an opinion on her skills - however, the office staff i encountered today were illogical, unhelpful and lazy. I suppose I am grateful I got to see how they do business before engaging w the doctor because I can only imagine what it would be like to have to deal with them each time I have to see the doctor. Absolutely terrible.

I'm diabetic and I've always been really great at managing it with one med and diet but moving here has derailed it a bit. I have had a total of 3 visits and one telehealth visit. The first visit was face to face with Dr. Cobbinah. It went well. Lab work ordered and everything was ok. 2nd visit (4 months later) was NOT with her but her NP, Maude. It went ok. We went over my labs and noted a slight elevation of my Hgb A1C but no changes with meds. I tried to stick to my way of eating which I find difficult between what I like to eat and my shift. Made the attempts but 3 months later I have a tele visit with a different NP, Smith, I believe. No complaints. We noticed the from the previous lab work that I had a significant jump from my norm. We worked out a plan that if I can't get back in control with my diet that I'd call and book an appointment for med changes. One month later, I book with Dr. Cobbinah because I'm now having symptoms. Here's where the one star comes into play. After my visit she places me on Insulin temporarily to get me back to baseline. She doesn't have in house capability to see what insurance pays for (my previous doctor did) so you don't have to waste time and delay treatment. That's ok, not every provider has this. She orders insulin my insurance doesn't cover and I would have had to pay $300 for. Ok, no problem, right? Walgreens lets them & me know insurance doesn't cover it. We both leave messages to her office. No action. Shorter version, even though I drastically changed my diet and continued to take my current medication, after multiple messages in the portal, via text etc., I was left with elevated blood sugars for almost two weeks. It took 2 weeks for her to reorder the insulin that was covered. 4 days before, I let them know which insulin was covered. The delay in care here was like nothing I've experienced anywhere. 3 providers in this place and not one could promptly order meds for a person with a critical lab value. Other observations: No matter what time your appointment is or how prepared you are, expect to wait 45 min to an hour to get seen. Dr. Cobbinah is not a good listener. I found that she hurried through and rarely made eye contact just typing away. If you're relatively well, you'll be fine here. As I said, my first visit went fine because there were no issues. The good? Her office staff and medical assistants are friendly. The MAs are listeners (the doctor just doesn't pay much attention to the information they collect). Final thoughts: if you're well and you live in the area, it's convenient. But if you're looking for a life long provider that can handle you having a setback or temporary/permanent decline as you age, this is not where I would go. I wouldn't drive from any other area of town to see a provider who doesn't listen and/or delays care. Delay in care is a serious thing. If I could score her zero stars, I would.

Now back to this Kirby location the Drs. are nice and isn't enough for me to stay. I need a referral and Jeremy tell me I haven't been there since August and I was seen there in November and December. So I'm calling to the Oblate street office where their bosses are at and I had to call & leave messages with David 6 times and he finally called me back at the end of the day on Friday (knowing there was nothing that could be done) he promised to call me back the following Monday or Tuesday and never did and it's been a month. In the meantime I've been leaving messages for their supervisor by the name of Dora Garcia (she's located at the Oblate st. office also). I've left over 23 messages for Dora and not once have I received a return call, I have asked the receptionists if Dora has s getting her messages and every last one has told me yes they've left them on her desk. One receptionist told me Dora is always on her cell phone for personal business so I guess that's why I never received a call back. So I decided to go to Dora's boss which is Dr. Harry Hernandez and I see why I never got a call back and they really don't care.....Dr. Harry Hernandez did didn't return my call either (after 4 messages) so I don't think he really gives a crap either since he might be at a location once a week ( 6 locations) he's so busy between his offices and the hospital these people are doing what they want, losing people medical records isn't good and another thing Nacogdoches or Seguin rd (FM 78) isn't practicing HIPPA they sit right at the front calling patients about various things including medications and reading out their address or phone number loud while they never close the sliding windows. My husband and I shall never return, Dr. Harry Hernandez will not make money off us while he allows us to be treated like trash and if you were smart you wouldn't allow it to happen to you either.
