Bottom Line: I can finally wear my boots This is old school craftsman. You walk in and the place is full of stuff; People's boots, purses, luggage, leather briefcases, leather jackets, and much much more. I had a simple problem. I needed a pair of boots stretched. I have large feet. Sasquatch like. I brought in my Ariats that have been sitting in my closet for 3 years now. The owner is behind a counter piled up with jobs he is working on and equipment he uses to do his craft. He is brusque. "$45. 2 weeks" I think at first "That's a lot to stretch some boots" I go back. He says, brusquely "If they are still tight tell me where, toes, ankles, shaft/calves? I will stretch again" I tell him that I am leaving for work and that I am a flight attendant and I won't be back in town for a month, can I try them when I get back and let him know? He looks at me and nods. I finally get home and try the boots they fit great. So in this crazy economy is $45 a lot of money? To me it is, but to pay a craftsman for a craft that will soon be hard to find, it is well worth it. Bottom Line: my expensive boots have finally made it out of the closet thanks to Dr. Shoe! Extra points for honesty - I went in the other day with a large cheap piece of luggage that had the zipper broken on an outer pocket. He said it will cost you double the cost of a new suitcase to repair that because it would have to be done all by hand and I would have to charge for my time. Thank you! read more

But I'm so glad I gave Dr. Shoe a chance because this man is truly a master of his craft. When I mentioned my surprise at the cost, he immediately offered me a $50 credit for my next visit, which really showed me how much he values his customers. I brought in a few pairs for relatively simple repairs, like adding heel caps, but he went above and beyond by polishing them to perfection. They look brand new! However, the real standout was my beloved pair of Frye boots that I've had for 20 years and had worn down to the point of having holes in both soles. Dr. Shoe not only repaired them beautifully but made them look even better than when I first bought them. I wish I'd thought to take before-and-after photos because the transformation was incredible. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! long story short: My wife's expensive / luxury tennis shoes had the heel slightly chewed up by a friend's dog, and I had previous taken them to another shoe repair shop in the Columbus to be repaired. The other place looked like they spent maybe 10 minutes trying to repair the shoes. This "fix" was not going to cut it. He didn't do so great on my Louis Vuitton. I asked for the handle chapes to be replaced, but when I got the bag back he had only replaced a small piece each them with material that was sewn on top of part of the original . This has left my bag noticeably disfigured. I'm truly disappointed and feel that I wasted $100's of dollars on a repair that is subpar. Wow. I have never been so let down after using yelp to check out a spot but consider it done. I brought in a pair of Frye riding boots (~$400). After being told it was 60 dollars to put a protective sole on the bottom (it's never been that high) I opted to do a simple shine so I could store them for winter. After being charged over $20 just for this service I came to pick them up a week later and they were given to me crammed in a grocery bag. At first I thought he made a mistake because there's no way they would fit in there but sure enough, he rolled them up like SOCKS and there they were. I told him I didn't know they would come out like this and he just threw up his hands and shrugged. I took a look at them out in the car and they have weird dark stains on them they never had, and the "polish" is some sort of nasty matte stuff, no longer a glossy sheen on them. I've had them for 5 years and they looked better before I brought them in. For someone who is supposed to work on a lot of high end items, you'd think he would have more respect for his paying customer's things. But nope! read more

This is the best shoe repair store I've been. I brought in two pairs of boots, one was rejected from two other repair stores because they said there was nothing they could do. I was so attached to these boots and determined to find a place that would repair them- at least enough to be cosmetically nice again. They were from the 60's and totally unique. And not only did they fix bot pairs, they did so in only one week! Typically, shoe repair stores take a good two weeks (at a minimum). I used Dr. Shoe to fix a leather bag I bought at a thrift store. It was missing a D ring for the strap to clip onto. The gentleman at Dr. Shoe gave me a quote and a date to pick up. I had just recently bought a pair of John Varvatos chukka boots that I knew I wanted to protect so that way they survive the winter and regular wear and tear. I also had a pair of Cole Haan wingtips that I wear pretty much everyday at work because I've worn them in just perfectly. Which is what lead me to Yelp to see where other people are getting their shoes repaired. That search ultimately lead me to Dr. Shoe! These guys are experts in what they do. I had heard some horror stories about getting shoes repaired at other places, so I was a little skeptical at first. But after talking with them and learning more about their process, I felt comfortable leaving my shoes with them. A little recommendation though: wherever you take your shoes to be repaired, ask to see prior work they've done. Ask for them to show you how they would go about repairing your shoes. It's a good way of vetting a repair shop. Anyways, what I loved about these guys is the 1-2 combo of their prices and how quick they are. Both pairs of shoes I left for them were done within a week. Whereas the boots I sent off to Cole Haan Restoration took over 2 MONTHS!! The soles that they added and the restoration of the leather was so flawless, the shoes/boots looked like they came straight from the factory. I'd been referred to them by two shoe stores so I figured they must be a bit of an ok. When hubs blew out the heel on his dress shoes I knew just where to take them! Unassuming little hole in the wall joint but these guys are serious about what they do. The day I took the shoes in and the day I picked them up I saw several people going in and out with many different styles of shoes. The put the type of heel he wanted on his shoes and new soles and polished them up for around $65 (give or take a few bucks). The shoes felt tighter to him after he wore them again, but assumed it was because they had been restitched. After a few days they remolded themselves to his foot and all is well. read more

The first time I went there was to repair a brand new pair of Prada loafers that had been severely damaged and had a hole (yeah a hole!) in the left toe. The repair was so perfect that there is still no evidence of the damage to this day. I routinely drop off all my shoes to be reconditioned. They also "winterize" dress shoes to protect them from salt and snow. Even my delicate leather-soled (read: very prone to damage) Ferragamos come back with years added to their useful and beautiful lives. I went in recently with one pair of men's shoes, two pumps, and a few pairs of boots. All needed shined and repairs (e.g. reattaching plastic heel tip; new insole attachment; reattaching sole to shoe; etc.). Prices were pretty high and I believe my total bill, including shoe shines, was near to $90. However, the work was expertly done and was completed within a reasonable amount of time. The purse was to have a seam repaired - that wasn't done either. Nothing was done on the purse. Expensive and repairs were incomplete - not even worth me making the trip back over there.
