Got my fifth tattoo here while on vacation. We were a walk in and I had a good idea of what I wanted, but spending time with Hugo and talking about the tattoo made it all clearer. He is amazing. Very personable, patient and professional. Next day I went to get the tattoo. He showed me all equipment and how it was packaged, I got to pick out my colors and we started. He has a light touch, gave me breaks and the day before he gave me some numbing cream. I really appreciated that, my skin is super sensitive and I have nothing to prove to anyone in regards how much pain I can tolerate. When I was half cursing it was due to tattooing over scar tissue. Ouch! He was understanding and made me feel VERY comfortable. Best tattoo experience ever. It's been four days and I had little to no discomfort and only a sunburn feeling the first day. Lovelovelove my first experience here! Came here with one of my girlfriends and we both got our piercings done by Hugo, and I'm so glad we did! =) Not only was he very informative and answered all of our questions, he was also really nice and funny and made me feel comfortable the whole entire time which made the process so much easier. I've gotten a lot of piercings done before from my clavicles, ears, to belly, and septum from many tattoo/piercing shops and I have to say this is definitely my favorite shop and I'll be coming back for my future piercings! About the service: GREAT SERVICE! Hugo is very professional, nice, and funny. About the shop: looks like most tattoo shops, but very, VERY clean which I love, not cluttered at all. I know a lot of people in the Orange County area but I wanted to take my daughter to a more professional setting to make it a good experience for her. I am very satisfied with the outstanding work that Hugo provided for us. He is truly a great artist and I would recommend that anyone who is feeling skeptical about getting a piercing or any type of art work done...definitely go to DR TATTOO STUDIO He is the first artist that has ever done a pain free piercing and I had done it several times in the past. My daughter also comments on how she thought her nose piercing would be a lot more painful. There is no soreness or swelling today and those are the signs of a true artist. I have had work done by Steven Rascon and I must say out of all the tattoos I have, this one is the only one that was thoroughly planned and discussed until it was perfect in my eyes. He took time to make it perfectly placed and wiped off the outline and changed it for me which I thought was great since it is a piece of art that will be there forever!! He was very professional throughout both sessions to finish this piece. This tattoo was very meaningful to me as a remembrance of my grandmother who is no longer with us and I couldn't have been more pleased. I can't wait to get another one done. Hugo had asked me to write the review and I forgot I even did it. I was 18years old at the time and was taken advantage of as a first timer. Since receiving several new pieces, I realize that he overcharges. He also added a "3D" effect to my tattoo without me asking for it. I get adding the artists' vision to a piece but this was straight up wack and didn't even consult with me about it. The intended shadow has no effort for the shape of the rosary beads, it's just a line. There's a lot better options out there with more reasonable pricing and better communication skills. This was $600 and took 2 separate sessions. I don't mean to hurt on the dude, he's probably cool af but c'mon. This was definitely a money grab. read more

The night I met Hugo was the night my dream came true !!! On Jan 29, 2014 I went to P!nk's Concert at the Honda Center and at the end of the show she signed my arm and with doing so I was on the hunt for a great tattoo artist that would handle my signature with a lot of TLC and Hugo was my man . His shop was open late ( it was after midnight ) Clean and Friendly . Jose took care of me at the counter and Hugo was awesome making P!NK'S Signature on my arm permanent . Could not be any happier and I just gave him a call again and he remembered me a year later and I am getting ready to have some more work done !!!! Jeff and Oso are the best... My sister wanted a rose tattoo and we had been to multiple shops but we couldn't find a place that really stood out or made us feel comfortable. When we walked in we were greeted by Jeff, super friendly! Once we said we were looking to get a rose tattoo he quickly introduced us to Oso, the rose expert... Oso showed us his work and we were so impressed. All the other shops we visited only had "sailor" style images. Oso does great work! The rose came out great! We had such a great time chatting with Jeff and Oso that my friend, sister and I decided to get matching tattoos on our pinkys by Jeff. Definitely coming back here for our next tattoo. read more

Getting a tattoo is a huge decision. Something you live with for life. So choosing the right shop/artist is important. I had heard great things about Dr. Tattoo so me and my daughters took a shot at it. And we were definately not disappointed. This place is awesome. Hugo the shop owner did our tats, he was very professional, awesome personality and made us feel compfortable. His work is outstanding. I also got to see work done with his other staff and they too do amazing art. Went in today because a friend recommended me to this location for piercings. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by Hugo, who was super friendly and helpful. I went in to get my nose pierced and he informed me of all that needed to be done to make sure the piercing does not get infected and how important it is to not touch a new piercing with dirty hands!!! He also pierced my nose with a needle which was not that painful and was fairly quick. The shop was super clean and organized. Definitely recommend Hugo for all body piercings, he's very knowledgable and genuinely loves what he does. :) read more

I have two tattoos from Hugo and a touch up on a tattoo I already have. I have even brought my daughter here for two piercings. He is very thorough on being and keeping sterile which is obviously super important. And as a tattoo artist he is quick and precise. You won't be sitting there for hours. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen even if he had someone else in his chair. I have sent him more than several customers and one of which have now had a few tattoos done. Hugo hummm what can i say about you and your shop, well i was amazed by your work i loved that you took the time and worked on every detail on my tattoo, i cant wait to get another one. He's very professional and a good sense of humor, i was there for 5 hours but he made it seem like it only 2 :). The shop is super clean and every one there is nice, I have friends that have had their tattoos done there and they all look bad ass and recommended me to go there. I can't say enough good things about Hugo and his shop. My Niece, Daughters, Boyfriend, Brother and a friend of mine all hit Hugo up when they need more ink. Absolutely love this place and Hugo. I brought my bestie here yesterday to get our belly buttons pierced, and it was honestly the most fun experience with Shane and Hugo. Shane (name change to Leviathan pending lmao) did our piercings and did an excellent job both with the piercing and with helping us feel calm and comfortable. He had a great sense of humor and all the laughter was much appreciated. Dr. Tattoo studios is an amazing place to go get your tattoos done at. Hugo who does all my tattoos takes what I give him and transforms them into beautiful works of art. I got my first tattoo by Steven R. after he was referred by a friend. Steven made me feel so comfortable and was very professional. I was told by many people my choice of placement, top of my foot, would hurt. Steven has such a light hand that I didn't even have to stop for any breaks. Went in with my sister today for her second tattoo, and was absolutely amazed at how professional Hugo is! He's a great artist, clean lines, steady and light hand. He accommodated my sister very reasonably and was able to perfectly replicate a design my sister had emailed to him earlier that same day. Had the pleasure of meeting his wife and kids and felt very comfortable and at ease knowing that he has more than 30 years of experience! This shop is absolutely fantastic. Hugo and Oscar were so nice and friendly. There was an issue with the printer when we went in, but they made sure we were entertained and got us taken care of. Oscar is the one did my tattoo. He was hilarious, personable, and just all around a blast to work with. And i absolutely love the work. Hugo made sure we were doing okay and made it a point to say goodbye to me, as well as Oscar before he left. I highly recommend this shop to anyone. read more
