I have been going to see Dr. Vera SingletonI for over 2 years for pre cancer skin kerotosin. After going to dermotologists for many years and having the kerotosin frozen off just to come back and 3 times turn into skin cancer, Dr. Singleton has a whole different approach to treating my skin that allows it to heal itself by bringing out the toxins. I think Dr. Singleton is the best doctor I have ever had. She is knowledgeable and interested in her patients. Blessed with a sense of humor she also demonstrates concern and can work with challenging cases... like me. I've worked with Dr Singleton for a couple of years now addressing a very stubborn hypothyroid issue. I was never 'sickly" but was diagnosed with a thyroid problem after a friend of mine (who is an MD) noticed some symptoms and made me promise to go get tested. Turns out I was hypothyroid and may have been so since the birth of my son some 20 years prior to my diagnosis. A series of life stresses seem to move it quickly downhill and suddenly I was pretty sick and uncomfortable. After being through a number of doctors , I have to say she is the first one who really listened and created space for me to be an active collaborator in caring for my health. I read and learned a lot about my condition and was very relieved to have a health practitioner who was able to work with me through a process which made a world of difference in my health. I think that her ability to interpret my thyroid tests also made a significant difference in my treatment. Many doctors stick by an established protocol when it comes to thyroid tests. Indeed one doctor told me there was nothing wrong with my thyroid. Another one told me I had arthritis. It was pure madness. Meanwhile I had to lay down after I made my bed or went food shopping.Forget about exercise and having fun. I was so exhausted and in pain. Dr Singleton used my tests very effectively and also made recommendations for treatment that other doctors would probably not even have considered. Dr. Vera has a great positive energy about her, and she is very knowledgeable about her field! She is the type of person you want on your team; and, it is very clear that she cares about her patients. Dr. Singleton is awesome. I have been to several doctors due to stomach issues that I had been having for years. I have been put on at least 5 different medications by doctors that were supposedly going to fix me with horrible side effects. Eventually I was told well I guess it's just not curable. I worked with Dr. Vera for about 8 months and although she is friendly and was eager to help with my auto-immune issues, I found that her approach and bedside manner was not up to par with other professionals in the area. She was not very receptive to my feedback about what I felt was/wasn't working and relied heavily on testing and supplementation targeted at what she thought were the issues at hand. Her approach is treat the test results and that the doctor is the most knowledgeable person in the room. This is highly problematic when dealing with health issues as there is only so much tests can illuminate. She was also not responsive to e-mails and urged me to contact her multiple times to get her attention. After working with another practitioner in San Francisco I have found someone who works with me, offering her input but also encouraging me to incorporate my own research. This means I am not being talked down to by a doctor, which is the reason I switched to naturopathic doctors instead of allopathic medicine. Ultimately, after a round of tests and numerous supplements for months on end with Dr. Vera, I saw very little progress. When I switched practitioners I realized she had not even tested me for one of the most common gut dysfunction issues - SIBO. I'm receiving more support and progress having paid careful attention to the patient practitioner relationship. Dr. Vera is surely knowledgeable so this is not to discourage anyone, but if you are independent in your own understanding of your health and looking for someone to work with you who is at the forefront of research I would recommend going elsewhere. read more

Dr. Singleton is the best holistic doctor I've ever met. I needed help to jumpstart my body and needed to get leaner. At first I  wasn't sure natural medicine could help me cause I had been to so many other doctors and didn't respond to so many meds, they just gave up on me. But by far, she listened to me more than any other doctor she didn't talk over my head and found my problem quick! We did some food allergy testing and she put me on a program and bam! When I first came to Lolo, I was only thinking of seeking acupuncture, chiropractic, and massage for my insomnia (I've had it since 2005 and was medicated via Zolpidem since 2008) and chronic back pain (mainly in the upper back and shoulder area). I read somewhere that acupuncture can treat insomnia. I didn't give a second thought to naturopathic medicine. After assessing my overall health history by Anthony, I was referred to Dr. Singleton. I figured, why not? We'll see where this will go. Most traditional M.D.'s will write up a prescription and send you on your merry way. Sleeping pills for Insomnia and pain meds for my backaches. I was tired of being medicated and wanted to be pain and insomnia free without relying on my meds. I had seen literally a dozen of doctors for 2 years before I came across Dr. Singleton from a personal recommendation. My issues were very complex and no other doctor was able to figure out how all of the different factors were influencing one another. I had severe gut/digestive and hormonal problems, among other things. In the 2 years I was struggling to get better while seeing doctors who couldn't really help me, I researched medical problems I suspected I was dealing with on a daily basis. I came to really understand my body and different natural things out there that do a much better job at healing me than conventional medicine. I brought my complex case and my numerous supplemental regime to Dr. Singleton a few months ago. Meeting her, I knew right away she was the doctor for me! She's an excellent thoughtful listener, who has the perfect balance of being open-minded and respectful of her patients, but also very intelligent and forward-thinking in her responses and recommendations. Dr. Singleton agreed with a lot of my own assessment of what I suspect had been going on for me, and gently advised me what to focus on first and always educates me on new info I did not know about yet. She's always a step ahead of me, which I am so delighted about because I felt like all of the other doctors were always behind me in figuring out what's going on with me. Though she is an ND, not an MD, she is without a doubt my primary care physician, in every sense of the word. I have been seeing Dr. Vera for almost a year for some chronic auto-immune issues. She has been a blessing in my life for sure. She has a super positive way about her with educating you in an easy to understand way.
