I have been a client for many years and was happy before not anymore. I took one of my cats who had passed away to get cremated. I was charge $10 for transport and $220 for the cremation that's unacceptable. How can you charge $230 for cremation in TJ. And we waited for days to hear our kitty was ready to be picked up and now the doctor calls and demands payment when they just let me know yesterday he was ready. This vet used to be amazing now he's just as bad as the corporate vets it's a shame. read more

Warning for Americans: We were quoted 4,000 pesos twice over the phone (through my Spanish-speaking friend) for senior dog lab work, teeth cleaning, extractions if needed, gas anesthesia, and pain meds -- all included as one package price. When we arrived, the clinic director, Victor suddenly changed the price to 4,500 pesos, claiming the "regular" price was 5,000 and we were already getting a deal. Even after showing the phone calls dates and times as proof, he refused to honor it. Then, when I confirmed gas anesthesia was included, he added another 250 pesos despite us being told twice beforehand that it was already part of the package and said it would be $300 cash. So clearly pesos would be cheaper so at the payment time, we offered to pay the agreed total in pesos, 4750= $271 but he suddenly insisted we owed $300 USD and showed us we signed the agreement to pay $300. The pricing kept changing throughout the visit, which felt extremely dishonest and unprofessional. They also only accepted cash or Zelle, which added to the concern. Overall, the experience felt misleading and left us feeling taken advantage of. We won't be coming back here. read more

I have been going for years with my 4 dogs and referred many people to this vet due to how great he was and of course the prices, but waiting 2weeks for a paper quote to euthanize my dog after a dislocated hip only to be told I need to come to the location in TJ is insane. When I explained my situation of getting funding from a private group and all they need is a paper quote to provide me with funding and being told no problem after giving them all the information. I had called prior in the beginning and every time they said they were busy and would get back to me and after 3 days of hearing that I message. No response after I message every day and left on read when checking on the status. I've been doing the US drop offs and pick ups and think it's ridiculous they cant give the driver the paper quote to hand me during the drop offs. Now I need a new vet read more

Yesterday, one of my cats took a ride to Tijuana in Dr. Madrigal's van, and since she was the only cat, she got to ride in luxury up front. She got lots of bloodwork done, because I wanted to find out if she either had hypothyroidism or Stage 1 kidney disease. The vet called me to let me know that she wasn't too happy about having her blood taken, because she tried to scratch him. I was kept up to date with videos and messages, and she was ultimately diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and I have a prescription to (hopefully) get filled tomorrow. She has to go back in 30 days for a bloodwork recheck, and at the same time, I'll have her evaluated for her dental. The entire bill came to $285, which included the $10 transport fee, and $25 consultation, which over here, would have been double, if not more. read more

I was recommended to this place by a neighbor and regret not having done my research before trusting them with my fur babies! They returned one of my dogs with his belly steaming hot and hyperventilating with his tongue sideways and with his legs which are stiff sticking out of the crate. My heart dropped upon seeing him! I thought he was dying. When I asked the person charging me if this was normal, he ignored me and continued to charge the rest of the clients that were in line. Eventually, once I started to record the interaction, he confessed that no one charging or dropping off the dogs was a veterinarian! When I demanded to speak to the veterinarian, it took five minutes before he called to check in, offering us to have our baby driven back to TJ for care, which was ludicrous given the poor care he had been given in the first place. Thankfully, one of the clients picking up their dog was a veterinarian herself and after confirming my dog looked ill, generously offered to get a thermometer to examine him before telling me to put him in my car with the AC at full blast. She returned and checked my dog and said he was normal. I can't believe the vets in TJ put all my dogs back in the van for transport while still under anesthesia after their dentals and without any medical supervision on an intensely hot day!!!! As other customers have said, these vets provide no written records of any physical or dental exams/procedures!!! Appalling given that records are essential for any medical practitioner since these provide a medical history of the dog's state of health and are essential for their continued care. One last thing that is appalling is the intake process--you get two-three minutes to speak to the vet in what appears to be an express line with dozens of clients waiting to check in their pets. Obviously, the vet has no time to request paperwork and merely goes with whatever the clients say regardless of records. This is incredibly unprofessional. The transportation is abhorrent, too, since they cram in dozens of pets in one tiny van so your fur baby is transported in crates with all kinds of dogs, some barking and raging. Awful experience. I will never take my dog there again. The level of professionalism was disappointing. They were careless, dismissive, and negligent. When I picked up my dog, I was told, "He's fine, he just needs a little rest." But I immediately knew something was wrong. My dog was motionless and bleeding. I had no choice but to rush him to an emergency animal hospital in San Diego where I was told he was bleeding internally and needed blood transfusion and emergency surgery. That emergency visit ended up costing me $12,000, but thankfully my fur-baby survived and was saved. No pet owner should ever be put in that position after trusting a veterinary place with their pet/animal. I also want to mention that Dr. Madrigal's wife will be the reason for the hospital's downfall. As far as im aware, she is not licensed or certified and has absolutely no business being there "attending" to pet parents. Her behavior was extremely unprofessional, judgmental, and showed a severe lack of empathy, y tiene un jenio insoportable la sangrona, which made an already distressing situation even worse. On top of everything, once your fur-baby is handed back to you, you are completely on your own. They do not respond to any follow-up questions or concerns you may have. For comparison, Patitas Felizes Clinic is now my go-to. They treat ALL (not pick and choose) furbabies with equal empathy, love, care, and most importantly like FAMILY! read more

Dr. Madrigal and his team are great. I was recommended here from a friend after I was searching for an affordable vet for my dogs pyometra surgery. They were able to do it for a fraction of the cost ($1k vs 10-12k). Unfortunately, after Dr.Madrigal and his team were able to take a look they found it wasn't pyometra but a big mass attached to my dogs spleen. She was already really thin and sick but I still wanted the surgery done to give her a chance. The Dr.vet team kept me updated through WhatsApp with many videos and pictures. Unfortunately my Bailey passed away during recovery after the surgery was successful. I am still so grateful for the team for finding me answers and providing great after care steps. Don't trust them with your pet. These guys do not reply, they don't send updates on your pet, and they don't even provide paperwork on your dog's lab results or diagnosis like other vets do. I don't think they're legit, everything they do is super shady. I took my dog there twice for two procedures that totaled $1,300. I ended up following up with a different vet because the surgery looked so bad. They informed us that the procedure we paid Dr vet to do, was never done. Instead, they put in a tube that would drain the issue and go away for the time being. The new vet advised us to come straight to them next time. We already took our husky there and they treated her better than we could have even hoped for, especially in comparison to Dr. vets horrible practices. Save yourself the time and money. Dr. Rigoberto was a God send and saved our puppy. He was diagnosed in So. Cal. at night with a ruptured diaphragm and I was told that he would die without surgery. However, every surgical vet I called wanted thousands of dollars that I could not afford. My daughter in law found Dr.Vet Pet Emergency and said if we could get him there they would do it at any time. We arrived after midnight and they took hom in quickly and saved his life! I am forever grateful. We picked him up at 9:30am with meds and all we needed to care for him. For a fraction of rhe cost without the drama, we headed back into So Cal. Spare yourself the headache, emotional manipulation tactics, lies, and GREED. They failed to properly care for my dog and give proper medical advice. Hospitalized my dog there for 3nights and upon return to LA, I now have to put my dog to sleep because he spent more than 36hrs without peeing. Had his urine drained in the STATES after only being home 12hrs and defecating bloody stools. His pee was the color of coffee. He came back worse than when we dropped him off. My heart is broken! They sent a video of Jax under anesthesia showing me his teeth before and after. I met the van back in Chula Vista at 7pm. That was 4 days ago and no issues. Brought my boy here for a rash on his stomach and an X-ray. Had to text over and over for the results. Which were not accurate. Tests ran 27Feb, results sent 11MAR. Had the same tests ran at a vet in the US and it took only 5 days. Different results. Dr. Vet test said my dog was ok to take certain antibiotics. The test here said he is resistant to them. His test said my dog had E.coli on his stomach, which he said is common. Test in the US says my dog has Staph infection. Could have turned into MRSA if I didn't get other results elsewhere. Still never received the X-rays. It's been a month and my boy needs surgery. If you need proper results, best to look elsewhere. If you are low on funds and options, this would be good for a Hail Mary, but don't expect it to work. Added a star for him bathing my dog when he shit in his kennel and washing the blanket my dog went with. read more

My cat's health was declining rapidly, and I got a surgery estimate in the States for $3,000+ which wasn't an option for me at the time. I then took her to Dr Vet Pet. They did an x-ray, ultrasound, and exploratory surgery where they found an extremely large mass in her small intestine. They then sent videos of the mass and asked if we would like to remove it. The surgery went great and she recovered there at the hospital for a few days. During those days of worry, I was sent multiple videos a day regarding her healing and progress. Convenience is part of my review. They are super easy to find & close to the border. David Madrigal who owns the clinic is sometimes there & sometimes no where to be found. There are other vets on staff who seem to handle the majority of incoming cases. Those I've met so far are knowledgeable but green around the ears...meaning they could use some direction from a more knowledgeable vet who's been in practice a while. Office is clean & somewhat small. Not all the bells & whistles of a larger facility. They do grooming in-house & appear to have a large clientele. Took my old dog to have lipoma's removed & all worked out very well in the long run. Believe one of the younger vets performed the surgery as one incision could have been considered incorrectly placed. Overall, I will continue going to see David & his vets on staff. I love how laid back David is & he always answers my calls even after hours. read more

This service was great. It does take a bit of time to check in as they take a minute with each dog to review services needed and get some paperwork done. My usually skittish dog was just fine when she came back. I really appreciated the videos the doctor texted of how her teeth cleaning went and what medication to give. The video was in Spanish though, so while he & his wife speak English (& speak it well) you might want to remind them of that if it's a requirement for you. Also, you need to be ok with your dog being gone all day. It was a great value for the price & my dog is doing fantastic now, 3 weeks afterwards. I would definitely use them again! read more

If you're looking for convenience only this is the place. Took my 14 year old Dog to David twice. 1st time I went around 6pm, David wasn't there but another vet assisted us. My Dog had a cough that wouldn't let her sleep. During this time my Dog was still eating her food and going on walks. The Vet that assisted us checked her throat, took her blood and injected her for an infection. He said everything looked good.?!? Had to wait to get the prescription from David the next day. He prescribed her two types of pills and a cough syrup. Gave her the medication as prescribed and she sounded worst. Took her again around 2pm and was helped by another vet not David. This Vet said that David barely went to his clinic. This Vet tested her for kennel cough, test was negative. He said it was the weather changing and prescribed the same medication from the 1st time we took her. I let a couple days go by and my Dog seemed worst. Called David and he told me to be patient, to continue giving my dog the medication and that it was possible that she would need more once she was done with it.?!? My poor dog stopped eating and her cough was worst, desperate I took her to another Vet in TJ that was recommended. At soonest we got there the Vet took her temperature (never taken at Dr.Vet) she had a high fever. Then he took x-rays (never done at Dr.Vet) She had an enlarged heart and her lungs had no room for air. The Vet there explained the x-rays to me, he showed me how a normal x-ray of the chest should look. My poor baby was suffering and it was to late to do anything but to let her rest. I always bring all of my animals here. Dr Madrigal is excellent & really cares for all of the animals. Really good pricing! He saved our cats life three times. Once she had a prolonged rectum & it was falling out and she was almost dying. Then she had a really bad skin infection & he kept her for 3 weeks and fixed her! Then the last time it was another dr because we brought her in around midnight it was an emergency because she was lethargic from getting bleach on her paws then licking her paws & they healed her. 100% recommended. read more
