Date night at Shogun was fantastic! Hubby and I enjoyed dinner and a hibachi show... those chefs are really funny!!! Service was awesome. No reservations and by the time we ordered drinks at the bar, the hostess was ready to seat us. Both ordered surf and turf. And the chef made sure to give everyone at the hibachi table extra yum yum sauce. The dinner portions was huge... we both took half home. This was a very fun entertaining evening!!! read more

The visit was during lunch hour. We went for the $16.95 all you can eat, but if you couldn't finish, they would give you a container and upcharge for carry out. So we ordered from lunch menu. Wow! So much to choose from! We had salads, one was avacado and it was beautiful and delicious, See pic! The other salad was the side for the steak and fried rice entree with vegetables. The side sold was swimming in dressing. Wish it had less dressing. But it was good! The steak was outstanding! So tender and flavorful! And there was a nice quantity of steak. The all you can eat special they offer has a great variety and surprisingly good quality. There's not too much at the mall nowadays so this is a nice hidden gem. The all you can eat special doesn't allow boxes unless you pay extra, but I think that's fair given the price and to discourage waste and people exploiting it. One of the servers could be a bit more attentive and enthusiastic but it wasn't a big deal. Took my mother here today for a birthday lunch. We ordered some house wine, a spicy girl roll, had the tasty house salad, filet and salmon hibachi with the noodles-which were so delicious! Service was incredibly fast and the portion was large, but we managed to clean our plates. It was a great decision to come here today and we definitely will be back! The spicy girl roll was SO good. Went there this evening with my spouse. We were seated and handed out menus. The server comes by sets 2 utensil packs on the table and walks away. We sit there waiting and waiting while the server and the rest of the front of house staff are busy playing on their phones, or running to the back and bringing out boxes (not food orders) we were never asked if we would like a drink , never asked if we were ready to order basically never acknowledged at all. The sushi here is always great. Everything tastes really fresh and always presented nicely. Gyoza appetizer is always a must. Sushi is a 5/5. A wonderful filling lunch spot with fast and friendly employees we need to add to our list of go tos. We have been to Shogun tons and tons of times, and we also do a lot of take out, but this is our first time for a true lunch. We both tried a bento box. I did an egg roll, good but not a traditional egg roll, with shrimp. My husband did the dumplings and salmon. Everything was so fresh and had a great taste. The last three or four times that I have placed an order for pick up they have told me 10 to 15 minutes on the phone. I only come for lunch and I get one lunch special. Recently, I've been showing up there at around the 15 minute mark and my food has not been ready which is totally understandable and as long as you can greet me and tell me it's gonna be a few minutes it's no big deal. The customer service has slowly been dwindling over the years, but today was the last straw for me. I had sat there for over 12 minutes at the front 3 feet away from two girls waiting for my takeout order and while they were understandably busy bagging a rather large order I didn't get a single bit of acknowledgment from anybody for over 12 minutes. I could see my order sitting out just waiting to be bagged at one point they were still waiting for the rest of the one order to come in so I don't understand why they couldn't have asked to see what I was there for. why they couldn't have just got me out of the way Since they didn't even have the whole order they were prepping at that time. When I called that large order and the other orders would have already have been placed, which makes it their responsibility to give me the correct waiting time. If they would've told me 30 minutes, I would've waited in my car and then came in. But again, I walked in at the 15 minute Mark like I was told over the phone and then ignored for the next 12 minutes not a "hey sorry it will be a few minutes nothing". I've worked as a host in the past and no matter how busy you are the number one thing you're taught is to at least great your guest. There had been a time in the past where I was running a little bit behind to pick up a pick up order and they had called me five times to make sure that I was still coming since I was taking too long. But yet they're able to take as long as they want and when you get frustrated with it, there's no empathy from anyone. I'm extremely saddened by my decision to stop coming here because this has been one of my favorite places for quite a few years. But good costumer service means more to me then good food read more

Buyer beware! Shogun currently has an all-you-can-eat option on the menu. However what they don't tell you is number one, if you don't eat at least half of everything that you order they charge you full price for everything! Number two. We had ordered hibachi meals and wanted a second hibachi meal but all we wanted was the protein say the shrimp there was no sense getting the noodles and rice and wasting it so we asked can we just get the protein? They said sure. Then they charged us extra for it because they consider that a "side dish"? So had do I got the whole meal It would've been included in the all you can eat. But because only I wanted the protein, It was considered a side dish. We did this multiple times not knowing we were getting charged extra each time. Then in the end, got a surprise bill that was three times as much as what it should've been. Where I come from all you can eat is all you can eat as long as it's off the all you can eat menu, not at Shogun! Love this restaurant, it's our family favorite. We've been going for years and are never disappointed.

i have gone here for many years and now I will not be returning. my husband and step some are not small men and they wanted us to sit 9 at the small hibachi tables in front room. if I am going to spend over 200 dollars for dinner we have a right to be comfortable and not crowded. I refused to sit at that table and was willing to wait. The manager came over was very confrontational and started yelling at me. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I have very rarely eaten inside restaurants, but during my visit to Shogun Hibachi, I decided to eat there. The employees spaced out the tables of customers, wore face masks, used disposable dishes and utensils, and thoroughly cleaned the tables and chairs. The menu was huge and included hibachi, teriyaki entrees, lots of sushi, bento boxes, pad thai, various appetizers, and soups and salads. The waitress was very friendly, and she quickly took our order and brought out our drinks, refills, and food. She forgot to bring out my husband's tuna tartare, but she apologized and brought it out after we asked. My husband and I each had ordered a dinner bento box, which comes with side vegetables and sushi and which you can customize with a soup or salad, rice or noodles, and an appetizer. The proteins of steak and chicken were cooked properly and were covered with a nice sauce. The side of sushi was a generous six pieces and tasted very good. The miso soup was dark and flavorful with its onions and mushrooms. The salad contained lettuce, half of a grape tomato, some shredded carrots, and a tasty ginger dressing. The rice and noodles were cooked well. For my appetizer, I chose the crab rangoon, which contained cream cheese and no crab, but I liked it. As for my husband's tuna tartare, he said, "I like it." I tried a few other restaurants around Beaver Falls, and Shogun was my favorite. The total price for dinner for two people was a reasonable $51 plus a tip. read more

I'm not one for conflict or complaining. If I could get away with less than a star I would. But tonight's service was by far the worst I've had at Monaca Shoguns. To use the excuse of Covid is getting old. I work just like everyone else and my customer service is still great. I go above and beyond for my customers. Tonight I was not shown that same service or respect. Most if not all Hibachi restaurants charge 18% gratuity for a party of 8 or more. Normally I would not have any complaints paying that if the service is exceptional. However I only saw my server when they took the order, brought soup/salad and drinks. After that I can only imagine he was twirling his thumbs or doing whatever elsewhere. He didn't reappear except to bring the check. There was no "How is the food?", "Do you need anything else?", "How about a refill?" My sister ordered her veggies without onions and mushrooms. I guess they took that as the whole table didn't want any. I had to point it out to the chef they needed to fix that. I ordered extra steak since I was splitting my meal with my children. Well I got my steak I had to ask for theirs. My sister ordered a side of chicken. That didn't get cooked till he was scrapping the table and she had to ask ummmmm I'm missing my chicken. Now keep in mind I'm no chef and someone clearly messed up the order. Our chef handled it well and corrected it. Again no server checking on us. Fast forward check arrives. At this point I don't feel I should have to pay for the 18% as I was not given exceptional service. We ask for a manager to express our concerns. She immediately brings the menu to show us the gratuity. I explain I have no problem paying for the food but that I should be able to pay what I feel is right for the tip. Things escalate and not just on our end as the customers explaining how our night was but as a manager of the restaurant she felt the whole restaurant needed to know what was going on and raised her voice and threatened to call the police. Mind you I had 5 children and 3 adults in my party I'm sure it was scary to the kids. Again I explained I'd pay for the food but asked she adjust and waive the 18%. She pointed out we didn't complain till the end when the bill was given. Well ya because my server was MIA. She asked why didn't I stop someone else. Why is that my job to stop someone who's not servicing me and keep them from servicing their patrons? Why didn't we ask the chef? Because I wanted to enjoy my food that I was being served. I asked why didn't my server check on us? Deer in headlights. During this whole interaction her staff was gawking. I tried to rein it in and calmly explain everything. I even tried to talk to the server and explain most waiters/waitresses will check on their customers. He was feeding off Manager Karen and felt empowered enough to argue back with me. Even after I asked him to stop he felt he still needed to argue. I tuned him out as I didn't need to fight back. Here's what gets me too. My sister asked for a refill while this was going on and this manager says, "You still have some in your cup." Which was only an inch worth of diluted pop and melted ice. My jaw dropped! In all my years going into restaurants I've had waiters/waitresses bring me a refill when my cup was still half full. My sister drank it and asked for another. The manager replied yeah but in a to go cup. There is no corporate number for me to file a complaint so I thought word of mouth. As a paying customer I should be able to pay for what I feel is right. Shogun in Monaca has gone down hill. Restaurant etiquette is poor. I work hard for my money and to pay someone for crappy service is horrible. Kids who want to work should learn proper restaurant etiquette. She stated because I ate my meal I should have to pay for it. Now I paid my bill not because I was asked but because I didn't want my children to be scared if the police were called and obviously wasn't getting anywhere explaining how my dinner and service was to this manager who only cared that her menu stipulated the 18% and only cared about money. This manager should have adjusted or reduced my bill and apologized and educated her staff. I hope no one has to go through this. read more

Good value for the price, 3 rolls, soup and salad, 12 bucks. All fresh and pretty, well plated. Standard rolls, and creativity is this establishment's weak point. Best I can say is "uninspired." (Sorry Yelper Susan S.) Not a spicy bite in spicy whitefish or spicy tuna roll. Good for average Joe. Yama in downtown Beaver, 3 miles away, has nothing to fear. We went to shogun yesterday for our girls Christmas party for work and it was an awesome time!! The chefs were very entertaining and the food was delicious with huge portions!! We had a large group, about 25 of us, and they made sure we were all taken care of quickly and were able to help us all find something that we enjoyed. Trust me there were some picky eaters in the group so this wasn't an easy task. All in all it was a really good time and I definitely plan on going back. read more

Very 'meh' experience tonight- the hibachi cook was shy and quiet, barely interacting with the table - not a good personality match for that job. He forgot to use butter, and so the table was burning/smoking near the end. He had to clean it several times, while we were eating - smoke everywhere. The whole family was looking forward to Hibachi today. We called ahead and confirmed they were open for dine-in. What we didn't confirm was that the hibachi tables were open. We drove 40 minutes to discover the hibachi tables were closed (COVID-19). We dined in, as you can still order hibachi from the kitchen. Due to COVID-19, all dinnerware was disposable. Our hibachi meal left much to be desired. The food was rather bland, portions were too small (especially vegetables) and the salads were essentially just lettuce. This was nowhere near what I expected, especially for the cost. Probably won't be back. read more
