Best food for asian cuisine in town! Always fresh and hot. Service is great and people are nice.

Dragon Chef used to be our favorite place. Since it has changed hands, the quality of staff and food has gone downhill. The young woman at the front desk doesn't know what is available on her own menu. You DO have fried dumplings! You USED to be able to swap out fried rice for steamed rice (it's cheaper!), but now you have to buy your own. The previous owners cared if you were getting soup for a sick family member. A lot of dishes with meat are dry and tough now. The costs have gone WAY up! We are hoping they take the time to go back to the quality they used to be. We miss China Inn and are running out of Chinese restaurants. It would be nice to not be disappointed.... That's all. read more

We've been here a bazillion times it is always good. Staff is always friendly. Prices are average.

Dim lighting and quiet. Came at noon and was the only dine in customer. 2-3 take outs came and went. Avocado Salad : tender avocado and shredded kani (fake crab), smothered in yum yum sauce and topped with roe. Would order again. Lunch General Tso's Chicken: Spring Roll is very crunchy, almost hard, with a tough wrap. Inside is very good - soft and flavorful. GTC - the broccoli is HARD. Crunchy. Can't even cut it with a knife. And it's barely warm. Difficult to eat. Needs more cooking. The plate itself is cold, making the rice cold. The chicken is heavily breaded and cooked til it is hard. Sauce is overwhelming and thick, extremely sweet and sticky. Could not tell there was any actual chicken in it. Language barrier with waiter so no real help there. read more

My boyfriend and I come here regularly. It is our favorite sushi restaurant and favorite restaurant above all. I typically get the "sir pinch a lot" or the "angry bird" roll. The miso soup is fabulous. Our server is always friendly and helpful. We love this place!! 100% recommend. read more

I came here for takeout. I got the beef with vegetables medium spicy. It was very good but if you want it a bit more spicer ask for hot sauce on the side. This was full of flavor and plenty of beef and vegetables. I would order this again. My order was ready in 15 minutes. The dining room is open again if you want to dine in. read more

The area outside looks sketchy. Inside is nicer looking. Our waiter barely spoke English and mumbled and spoke so quietly it made it hard to understand him. Felt very rushed to order when he kept coming to ask if we were ready. Overpriced. It was disgusting. Also had hair adhered to my fork which grossed me out. this has happened more than once. We call, make an order and are told the food will be delivered in 45-55 minutes. Once the order is made and the call ended a text message arrives saying the delivery will be 75 minutes, 20-30 minutes longer than told. Call made at 7:06; food delivered 8:18. Made several calls starting when the text message arrived and 3 more after that to try to cancel the order or to find out exactly when it would be delivered. Do not care for the bait and switch tactic. Had hungry kids and bedtime that this bait and switch tactic messed up. read more

Came to this place just before they closed, I tried their crispy dragon beef which was pretty delicious... the beef was crispy, but not alot of beef in their pieces. It was pretty solid for being hidden in a non descript corner... definitely be curious to try some more of their food... service was prompt but hurried, granted it was the last part of the night.. so I'll let it slide. :) read more

I used to be able to get white rice with my hibachi but now they don't offer it at all as any substitute.

We got here a little after 5 pm when we researched the restaurant from the hotel and wanted a sit down restaurant. When we arrived, the sign on the door had indicted no dine-in so that was a little disappointing that it didn't say that online. We placed an order for the Chirash Bowl, Unagi Don, Oyster Roll, Double Dragon roll and the Gyoza. They said they would call me when the order was ready. We walked around Safeway for about 30 minutes and then sat in the car waiting for another 10 before we went back on to ask if the order was ready. She said she would check and came back 5 minutes later saying they had just started the order and it would probably take another 20 minutes. The food was absolutely delicious and everything cost about $95 with tip. I was just a little disappointed that we couldn't dine in and that it took really long. Had we known it was take out only, we would have placed the order ahead of time instead of waiting around for an hour. read more

What's happened? Ever since the remodel the food has definitely changed, perhaps new owners? The rice used to be the best in town not anymore. Last order I received via takeout was missing food. Also customer service has gone down too I feel like I'm talking to a robot when I call them...just odd. read more

I found the food and the service to be excellent. My wife had the orange chicken and she loved it. I had the pork shezhaun (sp) and found it to be excellent. The service was super even though our waitress was new she was up to speed on most dishes we inquired about. read more

Disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. Sadly I can't recommend. I went there for lunch and got the hot and sour soup. It was thick and salty. Not good. followed by the Szechuan beef. The portion was fine but the dish was way salty and dint have any flavor except for soy sauce. It tasted like thickened soy sauce. They would be much better off with even a store bought brand like House of Tsang. I give it two stars for the service which was great, no complaints there. Also it seemed very clean inside without any fishy smell that you sometimes get with sushi bars. So I can't recommend this place, but if your going for sushi, it might be great, I would avoid the "Chinese" options on the menu though. read more

The sushi here is good considering Culpeper and the surrounding areas do not have many options. However, the portion sizes are not. The roll sizes at Dragon Chef are extremely smaller than what I'm used to in California (specifically, the Sacramento area), and it's more expensive as well compared to what you get. The interior could use a more modernized update. Service is good. Everyone is kind. For now, this is my go-to place when I'm craving sushi and in the area. read more

Food not so good. Take too much time and are very nasty. Don't go there. Do better going to grocery store in frozen food section.

I just went here and ordered 6 spicy salmon rolls, the server comes back with something else that's isn't a salmon roll, I ask and say that I ordered the spicy Salmon rolls and not what this is, he takes my plate away and comes back 5 minutes later with the same plate just a few different toppings, he half assed it trying to make it look like it was re made, so far I've had a terrible experience, the food is good but the service isn't the best! read more

We once again enjoyed the takeout "Loveboat for Two" sushi/sashimi platter for Valentine's Day. Unfortunately, due to some phone/cell-tower problem in Culpeper that afternoon/evening, no one appeared to be able to place takeout orders via phone, so husband went in person to order & said it was a madhouse. Easily took 90 minutes to place & get his order. Understandable, but still a madhouse - lol!! "Loveboat" was excellent as usual, if not quite as prettily plated. But the selection was nicely varied, perfectly sliced, & freshness was pristine. And that's what ultimately counts. read more

While the food here is still edible, it was excellent when owned and run by the previous owner George. The first time we got food under the new ownership, the beef with broccoli was hot. Tonight the shrimp in both the lobster sauce and the hawaiian fried rice seemed to be fried rather than simply steamed. Husband picked up egg drop soup for me and chicken fried rice and fried dumplings for himself. Generous portions and everything was cooked perfectly. I'm really happy with my egg drop soup because I had Bariatric surgery & it's been a challenge to find food that I can consume with ease. The soup was flavorful and went easy on my new sensitive stomach. Will be ordering from here again. read more

Dragon Chef has reopened for curbside and delivery and we are so happy! We treated ourselves yesterday to a curbside feast that included the Deluxe Sushi & Sashimi Combo, the Oyster Roll, and the Double Dragon. We even found some Japanese sake (not Pacific Northwest!) to accompany. Even though we over-ordered, every morsel we consumed was absolutely delicious. From previous experience we knew the sushi and sashimi would be fresh and beautifully presented. The Oyster Roll was new to us and soooo delish! The fried oysters were but still creamy inside. And the Double Dragon (also new to us) was so flavorful. Those leftovers? They will be repurposed into appetizers for Cocktail Hour this evening. Regret(s)? We didn't take photos; and We didn't get return sooner! Curbside Logistics: the restaurant has a glass barrier at the front door. Everyone you speak with is masked and they put on disposable gloves for the interaction with you. The cash register tapes of the orders are displayed on the glass barrier. All the food was bagged prior to arrival. When we arrived, we gave our phone number; they verified our order. Our 2-part tape came out in a small slide drawer (we had given our credit card # in advance) for the customer to sign one part (and add any tip - we did cash tip); customer retains lower tape. Large drawer opens with your order for you to take home and enjoy! During these special times, we appreciate the care, thought and extra effort Dragon Chef and other restaurants are putting in so we are able to enjoy their fabulous fare. Best Chinese food ever! And believe I've tried a lot! This is a real little treasure Culpeper has! The prices are fare and everything is nice and clean. The only thing we didn't like was the waitress she seemed bored and stressed and she had a face like "I want to get out of here". Besides this terrific food and I'm definitely going back.
