I did not get a tattoo or piercing or use any of this shops services. What makes this review 5 stars was the quality of service I believe was right for a customer to receive. The inside is welcoming and clean. The front desk person went to find where the artists keep their portfolios located. Which led the owner, Mick, coming out front and finishing up with a client. I had overheard that the shop was booked until May. That made me leave because I would be gone by then. Mick, even while attending to a customer, asked about where I was going and suggested of a shop at the very state I'll be going to. That to me was what led me to write this. it's amazing going down the comments for this business and seeing everyone giving them five stars and giving them amazing ratings I guess I'm the only one who had a bad experience there lol but just a reminder they do great work if you want a great tattoo, I would go there, but be specific on how much you wanna pay because they will not hesitate to you want a tattoo like for example I paid $500 plus a $100 tip for a tattoo that was worth no more than $250 just a little reminder of the little shady practices this business does/and also they might deliver great customer service and a nice view to your face, but I'm telling you guys they will swindle you out of your money like I would not leave your purse alone in there like that's the vibe they gave me they seem pretty gritty and money hungry/oh, and also the inside of the business is very dirty. 1000000% pleased after going to Dragon Moon for the first time. Christian did such an amazing job with my cover-up! The staff are super friendly, and the shop is immaculate. You can park across the street at the bank/Food Lion with no issues. It's by appointment only, but I was able to get mine scheduled very quickly. It may be easier to get in during the week if you take time off work. Take cash for payment would be my only tip. It's just easier. I'll be 53 this August went to the Dragon Moon when I was 20 and my nick name has always been Bones, I'm really into freestyling on skateboards, bikes,rollerblades so I always wanted the Bones emblem tattooed on my chest . Got my first tattoo (above ankle) from Mick and still love it 5+ yrs later. Still receive compliments on the color and crisp lines even though I get a decent amount of sun on it. Would definitely recommend the place - staff are friendly and Mick's work is awesome! Piercing UPDATE: Went for a tongue piercing with Jacob but he didn't feel comfortable piercing it because the veins were too close for his comfort. We found DM to be a very kind and professional place. Ms. Mick is an amazing artist. We're both very, very happy with our tattoos. I had been wanting to get a bad tattoo covered up for almost 20 years. I had a design in mind and had talked to artists at a couple of other shops. After meeting with Tom I decided to take the plunge. He did a fairly large, most of the outside of my upper arm, and detailed cover up for the price I told him I could pay. A month later, yesterday, I just got a second piece, and I suspect he charged me about half his normal rate for the first one. I'm very happy with both pieces and can't see me going anywhere else as long as I in Maryland. I'm sure there are cheaper places, but if you want a place you know is clean and safe, and will do a great job this is the place. This is a good place, if you're willing to pay for the name. The amount they charge is out of this world, even for a basic tattoo. My first tattoo was from this place, I was eighteen and naive to the world, for a 1 in by 1.5 inch symbol was like 90 dollars. After being more savvy to the tattoo world, I probably should have only paid like 50 dollars for it according to other artists I see now. I went in on my birthday to get tattooed and it was by far the best experience I have had! The customer service is top quality, as is the work. Jacob is PHENOMENAL and I will never get a tattoo from anyone else! In fact, I now have three of my friends that are getting ready to schedule an appointment with him. He is very down to earth and focused on work. I went here during the summer of 2015. My sister and I (both getting our first tattoos) had wonderful experiences! We both had the same quote put on different place. Mine was on my shoulder, my sister's on her leg. Jacob spent so much time really paying attention to all the little details, such as lettering and size to make sure that we would be happy with our results. He talked us into geting a larger size font than we originally wanted to make sure that the lines didn't blur or distort with age ( we are both pretty young) and will last longer without touch ups. Honestly, I'm glad he did because it is just beautiful. The entire time he was doing the tattoo he talked to us, made sure we were comfortable, told us stories to keep our minds of the "pain," and was just really patient with us. The results were even better than the experience. Both our lettering came out so crisp, and clean. Honestly, it was a little better than the printed version. He puts so much care and time into his work, and it truely shows. It's been several monthsvand neither my sister nor I had any issue with healling. Neither of us needed want back to get things fixed. The entire exprience was just amazing. Everyone made us feel welcomed, and comfortable. It's really not hard to tell that everyone there is passionate about What they do, and just being there felt like a treasure. I did my research and thought I found the perfect place for a beautiful piece of art on my arm. I paid for a 3 hour session $600 dollars with Micks wife and received minimal work from her. She slowly worked on my tattoo ( a simple bird) which was to be the beginnings of a rainforest, as she constantly complained of back pain and continued to check with the contractor who was refurbishing the bathroom. I returned to have her complete 1 hour of work at her suggestion. Upon my arrival she refused to honor anything, in which she responded as if it was in my dreams. She then disappeared in the rear as she and her family proceeded to laugh at my misfortune. I have been reluctant to contact anyone else to continue tattoo work because of this deceit. She lied to me as she took my money while speaking of a vacation she planned with a friend on the weekend. Initially I wished I had chosen Mick as I tossed a coin to decide which one of the pair. I should have NEVER given Dragon Moon Tattoo a dime especially after hearing a potential client tell her she was fckn crazy for charging $200 an hour. I should have RUN THROUGH THE WALL to get away from this place of liars who has friends and family write reviews... Too many tattoo studios DONT GO HERE!!! LOOK ELSEWHERE!!! Damn I have to gve 1 star to post my review... NO star is my true rating!!! Sent Dragon Moon a email on Thursday Morning, Told them my desire for a cover up and my desired new tattoo. Also informed them id be coming all the way from Pa for the work so anything we could do to save me several travels would be greatly appreciate. They responded back on Friday and told to email some pics of the tattoo I wanted covered etc... So I emailed them several pics and here we are on Monday and still haven't heard anything back from them. As a former resident of the area, they might be a decent parlor but I think not getting back with someone is very bad business. Mick started out 15 years ago as a well - researched tattoo artist to give me a medium sized hip piece (which still looks great btw) and over the past decade and a half has become someone I try to see every year for everything from a sleeve to an intricate mandala with watercolor highlights (yesterday)! Highly recommend Dragonmoon for any tattoo!!! I had one done today by Jacob and he did an absolutely incredible job. I went in with an idea of what I wanted but my description I felt was kind of vague which didn't matter because he translated exactly what I was thinking onto paper.
