Food was very fresh with good portions. Everything is à la carte, so my boyfriend and I each got a dish and shared the large portion of vegetable fried rice and of course started with egg rolls. The egg rolls came out very hot, like EXTRA piping hot, as did all of our meals which was excellent. They sure know how to pour a glass of wine! Service was good and ambiance is where it looses a star, curb appeal was not stellar and very dated decor with visible dust and cobwebs took dinner out to a lower level. Okay, so walked in and it smelled like mothballs (I'm exaggerating because I don't know what mothballs even smell like); But it had an old dingy, old church smell so maybe that's like mothballs?? I keep forgetting to review this place! We've eaten here often (part time residents) over the past 10+ years and every time we do we are very pleasantly surprised. Service is fast and friendly, food comes out fast and hot and fresh and tasty. Hot and Sour Soup is fabulous and love the Combo Chow Fun Noodles (lots of meats/seafood), portions are generous. All entrees we've ever tried (can't remember all) were delicious and freshly made. Yes the place is a little old and run down looking, but clean and serving great food to a small town. A hidden gem in Burney. There is a large variety of food on the menu. The flavors were wonderful and the smells were enticing. We are going to Burney again this summer and will definitely come to this restaurant again. They were even opened on the 4th of July! read more

Wanted a nice spot to eat for lunch before seeing Burney Falls so we ended up stopping by Dragon Palace. It was sorta busy going on Labor Day weekend, but we were seated promptly by the kind waitress. The shrimp was very plump and fresh, Kung pao chicken had a really nice kick, and the cheese wontons came out piping hot with a nice crunch. Would come back again!! We were ordering take out because we had our dog with us. I explained I can only eat the sodium things they have. They kept the egg food young sauce separate, made the veggie dish as unsalty as possible and I swear they even figured out how to make their fried rice less salty! Excellent service and decent Chinese food. Went here twice while staying for work and also ordered take out one night. Got a bad headache after the first night and realized that they probably use MSG. I called and asked and they do indeed put MSG in everything. However, they do offer MSG free options (thank you). Also, kind of weird that you have to ask for rice with your meal when most places provide it as part of the meal. Inside temperature of the restaurant is on the chilly side in the winter. I heard a waitress stating to another customer that heating the building is expensive. I guess losing customers isn't as expensive? Overall, a good place to eat in such a small town. read more

Not a bad place, and would stave your Americanized Chinese food craving in the cold Burney weather. Burney is a pretty small town, and so ethnic dining options are a bit limited. I was in the mood for some hot and sour soup and some hearty meals. And that's exactly what we got, three hearty plates with soups and rice. The mussels in black bean sauce were not bad, albeit a bit on the sweeter/saucier side than what I'm used to. The chow fun was the most solid out of the three. Albeit it was a little heavier due to the carbs and oil. And the eggplant dish had a nice balance. Dragon Palace is about as good as it gets considering how remote you are out here, but I'd come back if I happen to be in the area. It's not amazing, but it gets the job done! read more

0 stars. My family of 8 came in and not a single greet by the lady. Instead, we were told that we should've called ahead for parties of 8 or more. For a funeral looking restaurant in the middle of nowhere with no people other than us? Okay I guess. We had a toddler and she was not kid-friendly at all when we asked for a high chair. She was taking our orders like a bratty teenager who couldn't wait to leave a family gathering. If you hate your job so much please let other people handle your job right for the sake of the owners. There were two men ordering for take-outs and when they wanted to add more - she replied with "You guys I can't keep changing your order" What is all the fuss and attitude about lady? All you need to do is to edit your paper. Normal things. Horrible horrible service. Food tasted like it needed to be in Kitchen Nightmares with the help of Gordon Ramsey by firing her. We got the chow mein, sweet and sour spareribs and scrambled eggs. Chow mein: pretty good, no complaints, can't really mess that up. Sweet and sour spareribs, wtf? They actually used ribs you find at an American BBQ and cut them up. They were heavily battered and sometimes you eat pieces where you find no meat under the batter, just fat. Scrambled eggs, we thought it'd be like the water egg dish you find at a typical Chinese restaurant but nope it was literally scrambled eggs....not worth it, I could've made that dish and made it a lot prettier. Overall, I don't recommend eating here. With the scarce food options around, I'd rather just get a frozen Chinese dinner at Safeway. read more

Super disappointing. Ordered the kung pao shrimp. it came with about 7 pieces of shrimp, with the rest of the container full of water chestnuts. no spice at all. Szechuan chicken was soggy. not spicy. Fried rice was only rice, minor shrimp & no vegetables or egg or anything. Sweet & spicy shrimp prawns were very disappointing. Only things that were acceptable were the egg rolls & chow mein. I give this place 0 stars. We walked in the EMPTY restaurant and the white lady with tattoos was not happy cause we came in with 7 people and told us to call before coming in with that many people. She was also rude to the elderly folks while we were eating not wanting them to order more food. Our server which was the same girl with tattoos told us to put 15 as a tip because she took 15 dollars out of the total to be given to her as a tip, knowing that no one would ever tip her. Which would be theft cause she took the money from of the restaurant bill to get it as her tip. This restaurant was not welcoming at all even to anyone who came, terrible customer service! This woman needs to be fired she lost the restaurant a lot of customers today. This restaurant should be closed ASAP. NEVER COMING BACK! read more

I can't really speak about the food because I didn't get any! Been in town for just a month with restaurant and food choices being limited I decided to try the only Chinese place in town. I had Lo Mein on the brain all day, unfortunately when I looked at the menu I didn't see it. I asked the girl if they had it and she had no idea what it was. NO HELP. So I continued looking at the menu with VERY limited combination platters and just overall disappointment. I did ask the young lady to go to the back and ask about the difference between Lo Mein and chow mein.. good idea. In the end I decided not to get anything. Im just not use to this yet. Not SF China town or China, but Burney, CA. great service, the food was brought immediately and hot. the place was clean but outdated. Had a dinner special so can't speak to the norm. Hot and sour soup was decent. ASK for NO MSG (the pre-made items like egg rolls will already have it though)... The food was fresh and not super salty. Beef was not the highest quality so, I might stay with chicken or veggies next visit. Condiments are not home made so, just expect jarred sweet and sour and hot mustard....but then again, it's Burney! I think they would be willing to make things your way if you ask. Fried rice: well, rice with soy sauce does not make a fried rice. Sorry. Note to self: Stick to regular rice next time. I didn't expect much from a Chinese restaurant in this little mountain town, but everything we ordered was delicious!
