Stopped in after reffing basketball there was a total of 5 people and 1 infant in the place when we arrived. We sat at the bar where 3 of the current patrons were. The bartender/waitress stopped by after a 10 min wait and said she would be right with us... Needless to say we were there for a long time we saw her a total of 5 times. Where sh brought our order she completely forgot one of my courses the salad course. Then after paying she short changed me by 10 dollars. Which se rectified after I pointed it out. We were so pleasantly surprised how good this place was. Don't even question it, just eat here! The waitress was fantastic and the Cook even came out and talked to us about the food. Very friendly people. It was amazing! The chicken parm was great and the ribeye steak was the best I've ever had! The chef also told us a lot about the Fall River Wild Rice they use which is grown locally, even how to cook it, and we ended up going and buying some at the Fall River Wild Rice store in Fall River. Saturday 9/24/22nd 6pm Great service! Our waitress was friendly and efficient came to our table at the right times to pass us the drinks, food, and dessert menu moving us along each course. Ambiance is nice, brightly lit, fall displays were out and table nicely set up (the initial reason we came here was from the impression we got online photos of inside the restaurant and we were not wrong about it). I enjoyed the bread, the homemade clam chowder and the zucchini sticks. Honestly steak was lacking: the medium rare was too charred on the outside, and steaks may have been over treated (with tenderizer?). I was missing the "beefy" taste of what is an amazing steak to me. Chicken was dried out.... What wasn't mentioned about all the other food was because we were satisfied :)....But can you believe all this food was cooked by one chef in the house? Good work chef. Couldn't have been easy to cook for so many tables. I've made it a point to take photos of every menu to complete the Yelp menu photo collection (below!) There were 2 bottled Redding beers (22 ounce) available and being from SF we wanted to try. Before coming to this restaurant we entertained Outpost (but menu was too limited), blackberry patch was closed. We noticed the restaurants close pretty early in town. I've been driving by the Rex Club for years and pretty much every other weekend for the past year. This weekend some guests to the River House arrived before me so they stopped in Burney for some dinner to let us catch up. They stumbled upon the Rex Club. We were the last table set as we arrived just a few minutes before closing. Super cool interiors. Old school lodge style with plenty of fun mounted on the walls and the large stone fireplace. We ordered quickly: 2 orders of the baby-back ribs and 2 orders of the home made ravioli. We all had salads since they were out of soup and a few other apps. Love the fact they actually can run out of items. This typically means the restaurant serves only fresh foods. The pasta ravioli was the ticket of the night. Ribs were great, but the homemade ravioli stole the show. Waitress was awesome. I think she said her name was Claudia? She was hustling around finishing up the last few tables of guests, and cleaning up around the restaurant and setting up for the next day. The owner, super nice gentlemen, stopped by the table to say hi. A true local businessman working hard in the kitchen. Love to see this and even better, love to see the hard work pay off! Great food. Great fresh, homemade to order American food. Server was excellent, chef friendly and interacted with guests. I had moist lemon rosemary chicken breasts with a fantastic wild rice and vegetable side. Bread is homemade and butter whipped. Salad crunchy and fresh with great dressing including thousand and blue cheese, both made by the server. Lots of menu choices, not just seafood. This place seemed the most desirable of what was offered in the area and it actually didn't disappoint. We had the place to ourselves and then a few groups of people stumbled in, which is when we felt the service decline as we had to holler to get any help going further. We got the chicken Parmesan and their ribeye steak with a side of fries. My girlfriend liked her chicken Parmesan and the steak was super tender. Today, after getting off work, we discovered our planned burgers at home dinner was foiled by our pound of grass fed ground beef had not thawed. Off we go to Burney to sample some fare we have not yet tried. The Rex Club popped up on our radar. We thought, ok.... It's a bar with bar food. We will give it a try! Hang on just a minute. The old, run down exterior with too few cars to make us comfortable gave us some trepidation about entering. As soon as we walked in we were stunned by the clean neat place with real linens, nicely set tables, and well stocked back bar. We sat being the only folks at the bar, and one other couple at a table. This place is a fine restaurant with all custom cooked delicious meals, and great service. What a remarkable surprise. We have been looking to stay in Burney for years so that we could visit the spectacular Burney Falls and we happened upon The Rex Club. The experience blew us away. A very unassuming spot but the exceptional service and food has left a lasting impression. Rebekah served us and she was wonderful, Tamara brought us our drinks( we introduced her to the Negroni) and Terry was the chef. He did a butterfly scampi that was as good as any that we have had, and we have had many around the world. My wife and I have been planning on coming here for years but never made the trek from LA. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the wonderful bartender (I wish I remember her name). She got us drinks quickly and told us that the food is the best in town! After speaking to the chef about what he recommends, we settled on the pasta with meatballs and the bbq ribs. Before our meals came out, we were served the best Zuppa Toscana soup and rosemary bread! Both were a treat and our meals were excellent. The ribs came with veggies and a twice baked potato and both completed the meal. We played a few games of pool after eating, bought a t-shirt, and got back on the road. Send back and listened to the cook trash talk me. Returned it. Paid for it though. Not cool. Reordered scampi. Didn't get a salad or a side, but charged full price. Paid a ridiculous amount for a mediocre meal, at best. Over $100 for a $45 meal- best case scenario. Don't tell me about why your short staffed and why you can't deliver service. Quiet bar and steak house. The service was very good, but there were only three people in the place. It was dark and more bar scene than dinner steak house. Cones with a wide variety of dead animal decor, which is typical for most steak houses. I had the the bruschetta salad with grilled chicken, which was delicious. It was a bit larger than I could possibly finish and could have used with more artichoke hearts. He had the burger, which was OK. They have a pool table in the next room and we played a game. Just to preface, we didn't even get to eat here cause it was such a disaster. It was also a Tuesday at 6pm. We walked in and there were two tables of 5, one of which had already ordered and got their drinks. It took 10 minutes just to get a menu and 15 for some water. Granted there was only one server, but it wasn't even busy yet. People started piling in and the woman running the show was so frazzled and disorganized that she seemed to have forgot we existed. A large party was seated after us and when her help finally showed up, she started taking their order. We were passed over for over 30 minutes. No, "I'll be right over to take your order" or any communication at all. Even for a drink order. The service was downright horrible. I get that it was overwhelming for these people but this was a whole new level of bad. Multiple parties walked out and so did we after putting up with this for 45minutes. Super disappointing because the food looked good but I wouldn't waste your time or money here. We went down the street where it was just as busy, and again, there was only one server. She was attentive to everyone, calm and collected and the food came in less than 15 min. read more

While looking for a place to take my wife out for a date, i decided to look a little further than Redding area. I decided to add a little drive to Burney as well. We got to The Rex Club about 6 and enjoyed a nice dinner. The steak was awesome with Fall River wild rice and my wife had the special cheese ravioli with cream sauce n sherry. The wait staff were nice n cordial. The chef came out n briefly chatted with us as well. We got home about 8 so it wasn't a late nite even with the drive to Burney. We drove into town late on a Friday night for a Saturday wedding on Valentine's Day and they let us all come in and accommodated all 13 of us near closing. The food was delicious, the service was friendly and they all treated us like locals and family. Everyone here is fantastic, the food is fresh and hand made, the chowder, the seafood Wellington, the burgers and the special made pasta is all perfect. Nice little place that seems like the locals like. They also seem to support baseball teams and catering for local events. This place seems very homey. It was a pretty good deal. The service seemed slow even though it was not too busy. We asked which are the popular items and they mentioned the hamburger buns, the chicken, and basically everything is good. We ordered the steamed clam appetizer and my husband said it was a bit overcooked, but the taste was a little different and lemony. It took them forever to bring the bread and we had to ask for it. We also ordered the fruity chicken salad with chicken, fruits, and feta cheese. Even the salad took a long time to come. My first bite of feta cheese with the melon made the melon taste stinky to me and usually I like feta cheese. But the lettuce was very crisp and the fruits were sweet. All of the fruits were good except the pineapple tasted soggy and canned. We also ordered the clam chowder and fish and chip special. The clam chowder was delicious and not overly salty. The fish and chips also took forever to come but when they did, they were piping hot. Even after a while, they kept burning my fingers. They were fresh cut fries and not too salty. Very good.
