It reminded me of the Clearlake park near NASA with the water behind it, making it gorgous for a day at the park. I agree with the other reviewers that there definitely needs to be more shaded areas. I actually went up to a table that someone had left their stuff I just to sit at the edge of it because it was very bright but they need more tables with covered shade or shaded areas. I love to visit different parks in different locations but I'm always a little confused as to why there is not shaded areas even on top of the playgrounds because the equipment gets so hot in the summer and even in the winter is quite bright. The playground is great and my kids absolutely love the swing where a baby and older child could swing together. We also had fun with the faux tire swing. It was really nice to be able to see people jogging along the trails and women walking together on around the park-- I really enjoyed the feeling of community here.

It is located on Roberts Road…read more My alumni had a picnic there and we were able to rent this area with a refundable deposit as long as we kept it clean. It's great for kids. There's a water splash area as well as operational steam and diesel model trains. Other amenities include exercise station, picnic areas, a playground and two reservable pavilions. It is as an excellent choice. The kids enjoyed it and the pavilions provided more than adequate shelter. One thing tho just need to make a reservation. It's not first come first serve. They also allowed us to provide and serve our own food.

They have mini golfing where you can rent equipment inside the facility. They have a great playground area and outdoor fitness equipment. Inside the facility, they have a free pool and gym area. They offer a variety of classes such as yoga, water aerobics, etc. Make sure to check out their website or pick up their schedule at the facility for hours of operation. For first timers, you will have to fill out a form and don't forget to bring a large sized towel for workouts! There's a really great large dog park next door but there's no entrance to the dog park from Mary Jo Peckham. You would have to park at the Katy Library to enter the dog park. Slides, several jungle-gyms, swings, little rockers things, water fountains, nice bathrooms, picnic tables, and a little covered area if you wanted to have a birthday party. The rest of the park is so magical. There are parts of just field or cleared out areas where you can throw a frisbee or have a picnic in the grass, but there are also acres and acres of woods and bayou behind it. This is where I spend majority of my childhood. There are paths that are marked with arrows throughout the woods, but then you can also walk to the water if you want to. I've seen boyscouts, hikers, joggers, and all sorts back there. There is a private parking lot but there are only a handful of spaces, and they do lock the gate at dusk. I park on the road and usually just walk in so I don't have to worry about my car getting locked in or anything. This park is magical, I love it.
