It's also where the workout machines are which is so cool! It's also covered. There are two rentable covered pavilions with a smoker/ grill and sink with water access. There are also smaller covered areas with picnic tables which are first come first served. It has a bathroom which was actually clean and nice inside. This is just one area of the park but there is a huge pond to fish, a large walking trail around the pond on the other side and I've only explored a portion of this park. My kids loved it. The pavilions are covered with ample seating, there's a nice playground nearby for the kids, and lots of open grass for games. The bathrooms are pretty clean and close by. There is also ample parking. We visited in mid October and while it was still pretty hot, the shade of the pavilion makes for a nice day out. We were able to play several games in the nearby grassy area - making sure to drink plenty of water! There are a few trees so it isn't totally open but large enough for group games. There's a ditch area further out that's pretty easy to retrieve balls and frisbees from if they go too far. All in all a solid picnic option!

The paths cover a long distance so you better be prepared to walk/hike with purpose. One of the more explorative preserves in the Houston area, the paths are mainly dirt/sand so if rains, it's gonna be a muddy mess, your footwear will get dirty. Hiking boots/shoes are the way to go. I haven't seen any bugs here like the other reviews mentioned but that's probably cause I'm here when it's sub 50 degree temperatures. Go and explore this one yourself; you'll be quite pleased! Most people I saw were walking pets here or taking strolls to clear their minds. Maybe I'll bring my bike here and explore the next time I'm in this area. I actually went up to a table that someone had left their stuff I just to sit at the edge of it because it was very bright but they need more tables with covered shade or shaded areas. I love to visit different parks in different locations but I'm always a little confused as to why there is not shaded areas even on top of the playgrounds because the equipment gets so hot in the summer and even in the winter is quite bright. The playground is great and my kids absolutely love the swing where a baby and older child could swing together. We also had fun with the faux tire swing. It was really nice to be able to see people jogging along the trails and women walking together on around the park-- I really enjoyed the feeling of community here.

The official address is 9801 Tanner Road; however, there is no parking. The best way to enter the parking lot is on Porto Rico Road and Sweetbay Lane near Carvardale Community Center. This is a multi-purpose park situated on a 10-acre odd-shaped land while surrounded by houses and businesses. There are large baseball field, basketball court, tennis court, asphalt walking trail, swing sets as well as picnic tables and a few BBQ grill stands. While there are a couple of covered benches, this park can hold many parties at the same time. The reason being my favor park is the parking lot and mature trees. There are a few designated handicap parking spots and easily accessible to Porto Rico Road and Gessner Drive. It's always cool to walk on the trail with the shady trees on sunny days.

On the weekends you see large groups of people playing soccer or softball. Within the park, parking lot area is also the carverdale community center for the residents of the area. The parking lot is small, but most park along the street anyway. All in all a good community park.
