I did quite a bit of digging for a center that specializes in RV electrical repair. We had a project that involved my replacing our old lead acid system with a much more capable and lighter LiFePo4 system. Now we are experiencing issues with the battery not getting fully charged and so I reached out. When the phone rang and the gentlemen picked up the phone, all he said was hello. I introduced myself, explained what I was looking for and asked if I called the right place. He said yep. I asked him his name and that's when it felt like it was going down hill. I should have excused myself and called elsewhere. Who sounds exasperated to have to say their own name at their own business? Anyway, I went on to explain my issue in detail, what I had done on my own to try and solve the issue and his reply was, do I want to fix it or him to do it. Again I'm thinking, sir, I came to you for help, what's with the attitude? So again, trying to be as sweet as pie so as to not upset Capt Cranky, I further explained that my vehicle, a brand new vehicle that he assumed I bought used and told me as much may not be putting out enough amps to activate an onboard charger and if this could be examined as well. His answer after learning it was a new vehicle was to take my truck back to the dealership and make them fix it. BUT! This was after asking condescending questions about why I didn't consider this variable and mitigate that. I told him that I just didn't know anymore. I've reached the end of my ability to problem solve and I wanted an expert to help at this point and that's why I was calling him. That's when he tells me that I need to bring my RV to his shop in Marysville (not Redmond), and that he needs actual time to solve the issue in its entirety and to make sure I allow for that at $160/hr. I'm thinking, ok, steep, but probably worth it....until he said this....and if you have a budget of about $300 which it sounds like you do, I'm not gonna look at it. At this point I told the gentlemen I'm done being berated and talked down to and this was a huuuge mistake calling his shop much less staying on the phone with this jacka$$. He hung up the phone and then texted me saying the call got dropped. Ok buddy. Save your money folks. There are other shops willing to make you feel like you called the right place. Well, good riddance. I hope after reading this review, some of you will make other arrangements as well. I made a reservation online. I get this response.... "Thank you for your interest in getting out and about with PacWesty. I see you would like to travel from Sept 3 - 6. We have a 4-night minimum rental during that time of year, but there is a waiting list we can put you on. If the van is still available 1 week from your desired departure, we can book your 3-night rental....If you'd like to do a 4-night rental we can set that up right away. If you would like to do a 3-night, we can firm that up with you this Friday (subject to van availability)." We elected to wait. All good! Then, on Friday morning, we get this.... "Hey Michael, I just wanted to check in with you before approving your quote request for Daisy that you'd still like to adventure September 3rd - 6th ? You're within the waitlist window and I will go ahead and approve this reservation if you're still interested." I replied/confirmed, great!! An hour later we get this.... "Hey Michael, we just received a booking for Daisy during your desired dates. Unfortunately, we no longer have anything available for you during those dates." Why not just say the first day we can book is six days out? Worst part about this is we spent money and made arrangements after they confirmed our reservation. This company needs new policies, values and leadership....or even just some simple customer service training.

What do you do when you want to take a road trip to discover and camp the Pacific Northwest, in…read moreparticular, Olympic and Mt. Rainier National Parks but don't want the hassle of gathering and hauling all your camping equipment from San Diego? You rent a VW from PacWesty of course! We rented "Rosie", a 1991Westfalia campervan that was perfect for 2 adults. It was honestly the easiest "camping trip" we've done. BECAUSE the van comes complete with everything you might need (seriously). It had pots/pans (2 propane cans + 2 burner stove), plates, bowls, utensils, bottle opener/cork screw, and other utensils I don't even use at home (clearly we need to step up our camping dining experience based on the utensils provided- there was a cheese grater - whaat?). Some of the items we used the most: collapsible water container (all the water in Olympic and Mt. Rainier was very clean and we used it for drinking water as well), cleaning/wash bucket and soap, dustpan/broom (you'd be surprised how much pine needles your carry in), picnic table cloth (if you've camped you know some of those camping picnic tables are gross, dirty, chipped - and it just makes any camp meal that much better), 2 campfire chairs (regular size chairs not REI small portable ones), campfire blanket, towels (beach and bath -btw no showers in either NP), and a small portable table. At night 2 sleeping bags (they were plenty warm for night temps that were down to 45-49) and pillows (these could have more volume but folding them worked). Seriously, we packed nothing but our clothes (and that we overdid that) and filled up the cooler. The van supplies even had a few zip lock bags for packing sandwiches and foil for campfire cooking. The only thing we picked up besides food was a couple of Duraflame bricks because using park wood for kindle is a no no. We picked up the van on Brainbridge Island. We flew into Seattle so a Bainbridge pick-up was a head scratcher, but for a fee ($98) you can arrange for pick-up and drop-off in Seattle (we did a Seattle drop-off). Rosie (4 gear standard) was ~ $210/night + taxes + insurance (unless your car insurance provider covers rentals, which our AAA policy does) and $1000 security deposit, which we got notice of return in less than 24hrs after dropping the van off. In addition to all of the convenience above, the PacWesty service and the folks are awesome. Maybe just owning and working for a company that converts classic VW buses and vans keeps one happy? We met Garrett (our "handler"), Drew (owner/founder) & Nolan (expert mechanic) - all impossibly nice. Garrett was very responsive via emails and text. Drew seemed like he couldn't believe he discovered what he wanted to do when he grew up. And Nolan was like a VW conversion guru and could talk for days about them... and they're converting a few to electric. Yaas electric campervans... we may need to come back to test-drive that. All have discovered the PNW themselves so would be excellent guides if they didn't already have fun day jobs. Oh yeah Olympic & Mt. Rainier are amazing... so go discover the PNW in an all-equipped VW campervan. We didn't regret it!

I've visited twice for a much-needed brake light fix. 3 hr stay each time, and they haven't solved the problem. Retention level from the previous visit is zero. No knowledge transfer whatsoever about previous work done or not done on my car. The often-repeated phrase "oh, I wasn't the one, or I wasn't here last time" provides no satisfaction to the customer (me). Next car will be a Toyota for sure.

Don't come here for body work…read more Initial visit: fixed most of the problem (scrape and ding on back passenger door). Noticed some scratches we didn't see before, but they said it wasn't them. Brought the car back to fix a small paint issue. Second visit: car came back with the initial issue fixed, but even more scratches similar to what we noticed after first visit. A razor blade was left in the trunk and a long scratch from the passenger door to the taillight. Oh and the super boost setting was on, which we never use. Third visit to fix the damage they had done: most was addressed, but not all. Now that it's been lighter out (Seattle dark and rainy winter) we noticed that the paint doesn't match the rest of the car. They have a separate location for bodywork, which they didn't tell us upfront until we asked where they were doing it and it's "down the street". It is going to cost us thousands of dollars to fix their workmanship and don't trust taking it there for a fourth time.

We finally made a claim with Farmers and chose Carstar John's because it is one of their preferred shops. From the start, they were extremely professional. Melissa greeted us, did a quick estimate, and explained clearly the difference in pricing between the insurance portion and the private pay portion. The pricing seemed reasonable, and we were given a 2 week time frame for completion. I was surprised and happy to receive regular text updates on the status of my repair. And when one part was particularly difficult to find, Melissa constantly updated me on the progress of her search. (She said she had to place 4 different orders around the country to get the right part.) I found out today that the text updating is something unique to this Carstar shop. And when I called because I was concerned about the security of my handicapped placard that I had forgotten to take with me, Melissa assured me that they keep the car locked up tight, but nevertheless didn't hesitate to tell me that she would take it out of the car and keep it safe in our file. It was there when we picked up the car. Even with the difficulty finding the part, the repair was still completed in two weeks. The car looks beautiful, both the front end deer damage and the rear husband damage. The bill came to almost the exact quoted amount, and they took my credit card without charging the processing fee percentage to me. My final surprise was the car washing. Melissa had told me that they would wash my car, but when I got into it, I saw immediately that the entire interior had been thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed as well. I have a 3-year old grandson and a lab, and I remember how gross the back seat was. The car looks like it got a $200 detailing! All in all, I have to say that Carstar John's was an amazing experience. I highly recommend their body shop.

I didn't think it would be even fixable but these guys made the car look like it just came off the assembly line. They had to replace a lot but they also did their best to keep the costs down because of the age of the car. They said they'd do their best but I got the feeling the car would never be the same, especially at the price quoted. I hope they don't have a camera outside because when I came to pick up the car, I stood there stunned, mouth agape. It was perfect. You can trust your vehicles to this business. I am so glad someone recommended them, I couldn't be happier. Oh and they cleaned the car so beautifully , I don't want to let the dogs in it anymore, it's just too nice. The before picture doesn't show the damage very well. There was a big hole in the drivers side door and the two doors, the mirror and the bumper needed to be replaced.
