Ate here for the 1st time. If you're looking for ambiance you won't find it here. There are only 4 small tables; the rest of the rest of the restaurant/carryout is stacked with supply boxes. The food was very tasty. My husband & I both had the Seafood Delight. Included in this dish was scallops, shrimp, a piece of lobster (which unfortunately was tough), broccoli, onions, mushrooms, imitation crab meat & Chinese veges in a broth. They don't have fountain drinks & no ice. You have to purchase bottled beverages from the cooler. However, I noticed the shrimp wasn't deveined so I won't order any shrimp dishes going forward if we return. read more

I ordered the Beef and lo mein noodles online this evening. When I got home and opened up the container it looked like only 6 SMALL pieces of beef. It was ridiculous. I went back up to the restaurant and tried to explain what was going on and how I felt about what I purchased. The lady owner had to call a family member who spoke English so I could talk to them. Basically they did not do anything. I asked for more beef at no charge or to receive a refund. They would not do either. I told him I would not be back and that I would be writing this review. Was so happy to support this lovely older couple whose smiles and hospitality made me feel like I was home. The owners of this place are lovely and very kind. They greeted me with a piece of chocolate and comped a soda after they saw I tipped. However, the food is not good. I stopped in to get lunch for my husband and I, lunch specials of beef and broccoli and kung pao chicken. Both were inedible. The fried rice looked and tasted like yellow rice (no veggies or egg) and the meats on both entrées didn't taste or smell good. I have been ordering from this family for almost 10 years. The parents cannot speak English and the son speaks broken English at best. I have placed three specific orders over the last two weeks via door dash and just sucked it up that it was incomplete or just the wrong order. Tonight was final straw completely wrong order and when I called the store to complain I was brushed off with the excuse of door dash is third party. Bla bla bla. One of the best Chinese food places around Lynchburg. Actual Chinese people cooking actual Chinese food and they are kind and respectful. Make sure to do take out! This little mom and pop shop is my go-to for Chinese food in the area. The little old lady that runs the place is so sweet, and they give good size portions for cheap. I would stick to the combination dinners as its over a pound of fried rice, entree, and egg roll. Any order over $20 gets you a container full of doughnuts, and if she recognizes you she'll give you free drinks. From the state of the restaurant they used to do sit down dining, but since all their costumers do take out, they haven't invested money in maintaining the dining room. There is only one Chinese family working there so they work all day every day. They are very hard workers and deserve your patronage. read more

I'm giving Dragon's Garden a 4 star rating based upon this place being a reliable Chinese take-out restaurant that offers freshly prepared food in a prompt manner at a very reasonable price. Even though there is seating, my impression is that 95% of the business is take-out. It is not what I would call a destination eat-in restaurant, but I would certainly have no problem eating in for any reason. The lady who I most often place my order with is extremely nice. I usually order Chicken with Garlic Sauce, as it only has the vegetables i like (carrots, broccoli, snow peas and onions). It is consistently very good. I also am a big fan of hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup here is extremely hot (spicy) but not very sour for my taste. But I just doctor it to my taste by adding a couple tablespoons of cider vinegar when I get the soup home. And the portions are very large. My regular quart entree and a quart of soup is more than enough for two large portion meals, and for less than $13. I cannot rate the other offerings as I usually order the same thing. One time I ordered General Tso's chicken which was fine, but I found it odd that the entree was only chicken and sauce, but without the broccoli that I usually expect with this dish. All in all, this is my go to place for Chinese take out. With the quality of food, along with the fair prices, friendly and efficient service, and convenient parking in the strip mall location, I always look forward to going here when I have a hankering for Chinese take-out! read more

I'm surprised I'm the first to review this place- seems like its been here a while. A little Chinese place tucked in a mini-mall, along side a Food Lion market. It's small (6 or 7 tables) and seems to do most of its business with take out. The menu, even for eat-in customers is mostly priced by the quart or pint. But they also have combination dishes with an entree and rice. We ate in. They do free delivery over $15, but I don't know how far they'll go. The lady in charge was pleasant enough, but had limited English. (When they learn English in Virginia, the resulting accent is often "interesting".) The menu is pretty diverse and the dishes my companions had, veggie chow mein and sweet and sour chicken, were all very good. I found the lo mein and egg roll to be a bit more "tasty" than the routine Lynchburg Chinese place. Maybe they use a bit of MSG. Tasty is the key to quality Chinese. The fried rice was excellent. No buffet. I'll go back and do a more detailed review, but in the meantime, I think you'll be happy with this place for an ordinary Chinese night- not a special occasion place. Prices are quite reasonable. Lunch specials are $5. There's a big private parking lot associated with the mini-mall. By the way, they don't take checks but do take credit cards, and they're closed Christmas and Thanksgiving Day, so no "Chinese turkey" for you. I really liked my order of steamed chicken and vegetables (my usual), egg drop soup, etc. My dad was really surprised by how hot the hot and sour soup is (again, in a good way), and what was most amazing was the box full of FREE doughnuts that accompanied our meal!
