My girlfriend and I visited for the first time last night. The staff was friendly, but the upstairs ambience felt disconnected. I tried the beef ramen; it looked nice but lacked flavor, with only the egg standing out. My girlfriend enjoyed her pad Thai, though, so I'm curious to try more from the menu. Our waiter was very kind and helpful.

    123. Sushi Lunch for $12.99 (34. Shrimp Tempura roll and 36. Spicy Tuna) Everything is so fresh and wonderful

The sushi rolls were fresh and delicious. The lunch time service was on point. Such a nice relaxing place to have a mid day break.

I'd been looking forward to eating here since moving to Lynchburg a little over a year ago! Finally, last week I was able to go! The atmosphere is very nice. High ceilings and a classic black and white color scheme makes for a casual yet upscale environment. Everything was very clean and inviting. They have a nice selection of Japanese beers so we tried several. All served icy cold. The sushi was created quickly and though not the best I've ever had, was fresh and creative. I'm sure we'll be back again. Try have a large menu in addition to sushi and it seems they do a lot of to go orders, too

All 4 rolls including the Rainbow roll fit in a 5"x8.5" space.

Ordered to go. Ordered a Rainbow Roll. Spicey tuna, salmon and California for a total of $37 and some change seemed reasonable. But when we opened it at home the rolls were tiny, they looked like 1/2 the size of other sushi we have ordered. We have eaten in the restaurant and this did not happen my recommendation is do not order to go. All rolls including the rainbow were in a 5"x8.5" container with wasabi and ginger. In a normal place the rainbow roll would have taken up that container. The quality was good but they cheat you on the amount when you pick up.

Mediocre at best. Got "teriyaki chicken" which consisted of dried out, overly grilled, unseasoned chicken with store bought teriyaki sauce poured on top. No yum yum sauce, even though I asked for some. Vegetables were decent, the only thing that saved from a 1 star review. Will not be back.

For a sushi restaurant in Lynchburg VA this place was good for what is out here. The sushi tasted decent and is reasonably priced. I did research on the other surrounding restaurants and this one looked the most authentic with a good ratio and real ingredients. Pros: -Good ratio, rice to meat -Fresh -Reasonably priced -Made quickly -Didnt dine in but it's nice inside Cons -Doesnt compare to real places that ive been to outside of Lynchburg. It's not the right rice. It should be a little moist with vinegar. Regardless the spicy tuna roll is still good

I love ramen but was curious if Lynchburg had good sushi. Eating sushi outside of large metropolitan cities can be risky but I was willing to give it a try. We got there around 1 pm just after the lunch rush and ordered the sushi lunch specials: 5 piece sushi, a California Roll, and a choice of soup or salad for $9.95. I chose the soup, expecting a bowl of miso but it was wonton soup. I didn't mind because I like wonton soup. The soup had two thick wontons filled with pork sausage and a ginger broth. The restaurant makes its own wontons so everything was fresh. I liked the broth and wrappers but wasn't a fan of the pork sausage. I prefer ground pork. The sushi lunch special included 2 pieces of salmon, 1 piece of tuna, 1 piece of red snapper, and 1 piece of white tuna. White tuna isn't a thing and sometimes restaurants use escolar which gives you explosive diarrhea, I asked to switch out the white tuna for yellowtail. The sushi was tasty but very thinly sliced and smaller portions than I'm used to. But for less than $10 for 5 pieces, it's a decent bargain.

Came here with a group of friends and have been slowly exploring the menu here to make a valid review. The sushi here is alright but honestly the quality of sushi is nothing to write home about. It is adequate but not phenomenal. The pricing however is questionable. With prices like these you would expect either something much bigger or higher quality. At the end of the day this establishment could not compensate in either area. I got the Aji roll which was covered in seaweed salad and painfully small. It was fine but a price tag of 12 dollars seemed a bit high for what was received. The service was prompt but the seating towards the window is a bit awkwardly shoved in there so the server had a hard time serving us our food. The business should consider revamping this layout. The cheese wontons were great but seeing as how the business name has Ramen and Sushi in it one would expect either of these things to be phenomenal but much like a gyro and pizza place, this business has simply OK of both ramen and sushi.

So when we saw there was a Hawaiian food truck in town, we were stoked! I was especially excited about getting saimin, one Hawaii-style dish I have been unable to recreate at home. I drove out to the truck today, and ordered two saimins, three musubis for my kids, and two other plate lunches-- kalua pork and chow mein. When I got home, so excited for my saimin, my heart sank when I opened the container to see skinny, curly, instant ramen noodles, rather than thick and chewy saimin noodles. Apart from the fact that there was fishcake and spam (although the menu touted char siu), it was just packaged ramen. Saimin noodles are wheat and egg based, and thick, which is one of the things that sets it apart from ramen. The broth was also definitely not saimin broth-- tasted basically like chicken broth. The plate lunches were okay, but nothing particularly Hawaiian about the chow mein (I ordered it with char siu-- it had chicken), and the kalua pig was dry and bland, with not quite the right flavor. Both plate lunches came with mac salad, which was okay in that it was certainly what we call "local style", but lacked flavor. Finally, the spam musubis were devoured by my kids, but they fell apart as soon as they were unwrapped, because they were made with either jasmine or basmati rice, rather than medium-grain or even sushi rice. The same rice was also in the plate lunches. My kids also reported that the spam wasn't quite right (maybe it wasn't marinated and browned). Everything was okay, but really, this is an approximation of Hawaiian-style food. If you're looking for some real Hawaiian food, make the drive to Charlottesville and try Mochiko!
