I feel like it was my birthday. Michael was my server, he has such a great smile. He even politely placed my napkin on my lap for me. We've been looking for a good Chinese restaurant since moving to Lynchburg. We've made the rounds and haven't been thrilled until we went to King's Island. The staff, service and food were all excellent. We were greeted by extremely friendly staff and seated quickly. It doesn't look like much on the outside but walking inside it feels like an upscale Chinese restaurant from NOVA. This place reeks of traditional Chinese American sit down dining. The color red is everywhere, the menu has like 80 more items than you can read, and the service is oddly fast. I came here like 35 minutes before closing and they got me my food and out of their establishment in a timely manner. Absolutely nuts. The food was pretty good too! The mu shu pork I got wasn't watery or tasteless. It tasted pretty generic and the wrappers tasted suspiciously like tortillas but the plating, service, and efficiency that it was given to me was worth the price of admission. Would totally come back to this place if it was closer to Liberty. Sadly it's effectively in the middle of nowhere. Even in Lynchburg. read more

Ok, I'll be the outlier of everyone with 4 & 5 star reviews. I was really optimistic eating here with reading all the great reviews! We started with the shrimp angle which were actually very good! The flavor of the filling was wonderful compared to most crab rangoons, which is pretty much what these are. My wife ordered the mushroom chicken and I had the tropical delight. Unfortunately mine was neither tropical or a delight. The flavor was nonexistent. I know the description says a sesame honey sauce, but it was nothing more than pure honey. The special batter as well had no flavor. I do not recommend ordering this. I asked my wife how her mushroom chicken was, here response was not favorable either. Again the flavor is nonexistent. Very light sauce with no depth. Also not a recommendation. If it was one dish I could see giving them some grace but two dishes was one two many. I do not see us returning. Good luck! read more

The food and service are always excellent. I need to follow a strict gluten free diet. Most any entree can be made with white sauce (corn starch based). Any entree with brown sauce is made with teriyaki or soy sauce, they are wheat based. I've never had any dietary issue with cross contamination. It has a friendly and relaxing atmosphere. read more

five stars all the way!! what i love about King's Island is there consistency, service, and delicious food. we come here about once a week for lunch, and it never disappoints. sometimes the wait can be longer bc it's always packed, but the food never disappoints! a few dishes i'd recommend are the sesame chicken, the mooshu pork, the wonton soup, and the sumo roll. all flavorful and expertly cooked in their own right. i will also say, their egg roll is absolutely the best i've ever had and i'm reminded of that EVERY time. the ambiance is also great--very clean inside and also traditional to what one would expect from a Chinese restaurant. they're also very efficient for lunch and get you on your way back to the office when needed. love this place and their food so much! read more

What made is so nice was our server Michael Loh was exceptional. He was very polite and very interested in making sure our needs were met during the entire meal. He really topped off the great food. This is their go-to Chinese and sushi restaurant and I can totally understand why. Everything was hot, had delicious flavor and was a decent size portion. I tried the Basil Chicken with white rice and an egg roll and loved how they chopped the chicken into small, bite sized, pieces. My significant other enjoyed his Chicken of Han's with white rice as well. We also tried the Lion King Roll and Oyama Roll and both were good. I used to really enjoy this place bc the sushi was very good. I love spicy Tuna rolls and consider myself a spicy tuna roll enthusiast, as it is the first thing I order at any sushi restaurant I visit at any state or coast I'm in. these rolls used to be the thing of legend. the spice was just right and flavored inside the tuna, not simply "spicy mayo" on top of a tuna roll and it had cucumber springs inside for an extra delight. I went back here last month, intending to sit down but their info was incorrect online - it was annoying to drive 30 minutes somewhere to not be able to dine, but safety is important. I ordered a roll to go, which would tide me over until I found something else to eat. They changed the recipe, the tuna is a thin layer on the very top and inside there's nothing but cucumber. We're from out of town and tried Kings Island with family. We had the pu pu platter as an appetizer (the fire was super cool in the middle and you can heat up your apps on it). The ribs on the platter were amazing and the egg rolls were delicious too. We tried numerous sushi rolls all of which were super fresh and good. The orange chicken was the best I've ever eaten. The service was a bit slow, but the food was great and prices were really reasonable. We will definitely come back when we're in town. read more

Never did understand the good reviews for this place. People just love buffets I guess. Buffet good imho is never "quality" food. It's quantity food. I tried after 20 years when I used to live here. I was surprised that it wasn't awful like I remembered. But the dining room had not changed. That carpet looks and smells like it's been there for 20+ years. I ordered the schezuan green beans and some sushi, which people I worked with raved about. The green beans were good. The sushi was OK. So I tried takeout with the schezuan green beans spicy. BIG mistake. The cashier was not friendly. It was more expensive than eating in the restaurant. And, the flavor was disgusting-no spice just a grease taste. I believe in giving things a fair try, so I ordered takeout again a few months later and it was still tasteless and greasy. The cashier was still curt and not the most service friendly. I give 3 stars due to my dine in experience. Honestly for Lynchburg, this or Jade Palace is your best bet. I go to Jade Palace more because it was cheaper and take out is more consistent and tastes like dining in does. I doubt this place will be moved by any reviews. They have been around for decades. So if you love a buffet, 1980s dining decor, and think you are eating "ethnic" food, this just might be your place. If you prefer better quality, nicer decor, or takeout, go elsewhere. read more
