I have never been to a Chinese restaurant that I hated.. until now! Not only was the food absolutely disgusting but the atmosphere was terrible! There was bugs flying around our food they had a dog walk from the kitchen through the dining room and up to our table. The staff was nice but that's about it! 10/10 don't recommend! I ordered crab Rangoons and they brought me crab wonton and said it was the same thing! Rice was cold and egg rolls tasted like they were freezer burnt or something! The only thing we enjoyed other than leaving was the Dr pepper in the bottle and the pre wrapped fortune cookies! The bathrooms were disgusting as well and smelled terrible! I literally wasted $45 dollars on garbage! Never again will I eat there nor will I advise anyone else to! read more

We were visiting the area and looking for something easy to just take back to our hotel room and there aren't many options in the area. We decided on Chinese, because... Chinese food! The lady who helped us was very friendly and helpful, but unfortunately, the food wasn't as great. I ordered the Sweet and Sour chicken, which I expected to be crispy and golden like at other restaurants, but it was pale and soggy. The white rice also appeared to be cooked in soy sauce or to have had it added to it. I like to start my white rice as a blank slate, so I don't really want sauces added to it ahead of time. My son ordered the crab rangoon and expected it to have like cream filling but said it was actually filled with pieces of crab which wasn't what he was expecting. I should have realized that with half the lights off at 7Pm on a Thursday...it might not be a good idea to continue. But I did...as I had ordered a large pickup order. The crispy duck was supposed to be the crown jewel of the meal. My family of 4 was going to enjoy the deliciousness that I had enjoyed as a child growing up. All of us ate the meal...and fell asleep. Until the middle of the night... my wife woke up with terrible stomach pains...and to make a long story short...ended up on the couch for like...8 straight hours...bile and all. She was the only one to eat the duck. Everyone else partook in each item. Thanks Canton. You suck. She regrets not stopping when she mentioned the duck tasted "gamey". Now, let's be clear: i am from NY and have lived close or in cities my entire life, so i am not capable of giving 5 stars simply out of comparison. That said, Canton is the best chinese place around this area. They were incredibly accommodating of our big group last night and served up a banquet that far surpassed the expectations of the crowd (which included mostly foodies and Asian folk). Wonderful service and wonderful food. We'll definitely be back. p.s. oh. and be forewarned of frightening confederate flags in town on you way to this restaurant, but also know you are on you way to support a POC business to make up for it. read more

I continue to go to Canton a few times a month and really enjoy their food. The Yu Shiang Shrimp is still fantastic and Kelly is a fantastic server. Give up on the other American Chinese places in the area and go to Canton. It's not that far away and is SO much better! read more

We had the family meal for 6 and it was delicious. There was more than enough food for six adults. The good: The best egg roll I have had in Virginia. The bad: The worst hot and sour soup I have ever had. The rest of the meal was good to very good. Most impressive was the size and the amount of the shrimp in the shrimp and vegetables. We've had either been dining in or take out for years from here. Sometimes as often as four times a month. Almost always at least every other week. A while back we noticed the food had been slipping as far as flavor & consistency went. Well...after a six or seven month lay off we gave it another shot tonight. I'm sorry to say we wont be back. portions have shrunk in size and the flavor of everything we purchased was lack luster. Fried dumplings were steamed & that quarter inch of sauce we got for dipping just didn't measure up to what they used to serve. Egg rolls were bland & tasted a little freezer burned. I am from Detroit originally, where the Chinese food is top notch. Canton, is, in my view, the best Chinese food in the Shenandoah Valley. The Yu Shiang shrimp is excellent, as is their triple delight dish with beef, shrimp, chicken. The egg rolls are crisp and delicious, the prawns are excellent, the crab rangoon the best I have had, and the soups (won ton and hot an sour) very good. Hung, the waiter and owner's son is an excellent server. Atmosphere is not fancy, but quiet, and conducive to conversation. I do wish they would leave the tv off, though it is kept at low volume. read more
