NOT SAFE FOR CHILDREN!!! I rarely leave negative reviews, but this needs to be documented. At Dragon's Lair in Mililani, my daughter purchased a $15 pin with her own pocket money. It broke after only three or four days due to poor assembly. When she politely returned to ask about a replacement, the owner, Lucas, spoke to her with extreme verbal abuse, profanity, and personal insults until she left in tears. When I addressed the situation calmly, he stated that he did not care that he had made a child cry and continued speaking aggressively. This is not about a refund policy. A business can choose its policy. This is about basic conduct toward a minor and a customer. We have supported this store many times, but after this experience, we will not return. Families in Mililani should know how customers, including little children, may be treated here. Based on this experience, I would not feel comfortable bringing my child back into this store. read more

Small comic/collectible shop in Mililani. Came here when they were hosting a Dungeon's and Dragon's event our kids were attending. Love that they partner/support community events like this. The place is small but packed with lots of interesting merch. I have zero knowledge about comics, games, anime, toys, cards, etc. but my kids' eyes lit up when they entered and my youngest couldn't leave without buying an anime plush. Love this lair! Dragon's Lair is a place I stumbled on an errand in Mililani after lunch at Rice Box Cafe which is just a couple doors away. Enter the Dragon's Lair and you're sure to be entertained by their inventory of not just comic books (which they really do have quite impressive collection) but all character things in many forms which many I'm clueless about though the staff there are amazing with any questions you many have or if you're looking for a particular item. I was particularly drawn to the mystery boxes of various characters like Tsum Tsum, One Piece, just to name a few though understandably the prices were quite expensive just the the need to know is the whole point of excitement. So much to see as I browsed each area was just a museum with the poster/art on the walls, books and even stickers...this cool lair is comical! Thank you! read more

Alex: Dragon's Lair is awesome! Inside are various newly released single issues, boxes of $1 comics, manga, and various tpb. They have a corner dedicated to those little figurines that you paint.. i don't know much about that hobby, but it's nice they have that! My favorite part about coming to Dragon's Lair is seeing all the cool japanese import stuff they have like kirby gummy candy and those little gacha toys. Unfortunately there are no action figures like marvel legends, but there's mtg and pokémon so they have a little bit of everyone's hobby which is great. The employees are very nice and helpful. Don't go to this store if you're curious about buying cards. A guy with long hair and tattoos is extremely rude, doesn't listen to what you're asking and is very condescending. Pretty lame for a local store to operate this way. I'll never go back. And the expected typical immature response to my review. I don't even care about cards, I was just buying them for an employee of ours. But I do care about basic common courtesy. All good, it's clear you don't have it or care to have it. read more

We came to visit on Free Comic Book Day! They had a print out of all the comics available and would grab them for you. Everything was very efficient. There's always new blind boxes to take a look at. Sometimes even older series that might not be available in other stores. Same goes for their anime collectibles. Look at everything to make sure you don't miss something. The store is a little small but everything is kept neat and organized. The two ladies working today were super helpful from the free comics to check out. After reading Jessica Y's review on Gecko Books and Comics' closing (I know you read her's) I knew there were more comic loving guys and gals outside Honolulu and Aiea area. Rachie P. gave me the suggestion to come here. I would come to her for boba ideas but luckily I listen to her on this place. Now I came in on a bad day. It was the day before Thanksgiving 2020 and the plane coming in with the books was way delayed. How delayed? Delayed enough that Choice Comics didn't open on Wednesday and instead opened Thanksgiving day. Everybody else scrambled to open on time. That delayed. I found the place with Apple Maps and since it's in a mall, plenty of parking. And with plenty of parking comes lot of dead ends and one ways. The lot is terribly designed but you're not here to know about stalls you're here for COMICS!!! It's small compared to Other Realms but more roomier then Choice Comics. There is no separate room for role playing games like Westside Comic. This place just sells only books and memorabilia and that's all you need. Luke (cashier) is pretty chill and approachable. He actually remembered my first time there because of all the questions I asked about the set up and loyalty program (they don't have one). So what makes this place stand out above the others? Other Realms gives you sleeves and loyalty points. Choice gives you sleeves and boards. Westside gives you free role playing when you reach a certain cash value. Here they give you 15% discount across the board for comics. I'm not sure if that includes graphic novels and figures. Great another question to Luke. Also this place plays music while shopping. Not elevator music, real old school music. NWA was blaring last time there. Reminds me of Tower Records. I'm not showing my age. Overall four stars. The place is great for grabbing books off the shelf and enjoy the wall art. Talking to some customers, they have a loyal fan base. Shout out to Ramos for being friendly and showing me around the first time. Not quite five because if you are looking for past issues, there's not a huge selection. Ramos buys them all. Critical Natural Twenty Yeah I'm a Nerd. And if you know what that means then you're a Nerd too :p I'm not into comics but this place does have all the other stuff I do like and gifts for those "hard to find a gift for" people like figurines, tradeable cards, shirts and other memorabilia. I'm glad there are still places like these around that promote live social play, tournaments, and rpg table sessions. I use to play that MTG, I dont play anymore. In fact its been over 20 years since I wielded my deck lol. I'm surprised its still around. I was very good at it. I entered a tournament in Seattle. I got eliminated 1st round. The End lol. Yeah you can prolly do a lot of these activities like D n D, and card ganes online now, but is it the same? This is easily the worst comic store in Hawai'i. The owners are rude, arrogant and condescending. Their smug attitude made me uncomfortable just being there. Enough of the good news. If you're into back issues or older valuable key issues, save your gas money. They only have new comics, trade paperbacks and some figures. I had to listen the owner rant about how action figures were for kids and people can just go to Walmart. Except he also had some figures there as well. Guess what, I just went to Walmart down the road which had a better selection and better prices. Anyone looking for a real comic store with knowledgeable helpful staff, just pick any store in Oahu. I only started reading comics and manga (I'm a 46 year old female) during the pandemic. Walked into Dragon's Lair one evening (almost closing time) and was greeted warmly by the owner. Hella funny and friendly guy, his wife is super friendly and helpful too. They've got a great selection of comics and manga and all sorts of neat things to gift to others and collect for yourself. I really appreciate that every time I come here, they welcome you in. Sadly that has not been the case when I've gone to other comic stores or similar places. Guess we went on a bad day. My experience was nothing like the other reviews. They had nothing we were looking for and no suggestions for alternatives. Front desk person was not friendly or helpful. I asked for clarification on the hours they were open in case Google/the sign was wrong and received a sarcastic, "that's what the sign says" response. I stumbled upon this cute little shop in Mililani when I was there for breakfast one day. (Rise and Shine Café is in a different building nearby.) Dragon's Lair is at the end of one of the cluster of buildings in the shopping center named: Gateway at Mililani Mauka. The name of the store is catchy - I was kind of scared, but on the other hand, I was curious. Eventually, I did find the dragon - his head is higher up on the wall near the cashier. I'm glad he's not at eye level - I'd probably leave sooner! Luckily (for me) I left my wallet in the car because I was really tempted by the Tokidoki, Labbit, the Dancing Groot, and Sailor Moon items! One of the customers was purchasing a Terminator figurine! I was looking at the Dead Pool one... LOL! When you enter the shop, you'll notice that the walls are well-organized and well-stocked with comic books. In the center of the room is a long display of figurines and collectables. At the far end is the cash register and a really friendly employee. I felt welcomed and comfortable because she invited me to look around and made helpful suggestions. I told her I was just taking photos of things that interested me so my friends would know what to get for me if they ever wanted to get me a gift! Haha - I'm just helping them with shopping decisions! She agreed and thought it was a good idea! Next time I'm back in Mililani, I wouldn't mind returning to this store. Dragon's Lair is one of the nicest comic book and collectibles stores on O'ahu. Located in Mililani in a nice shopping center, the store is easy to find. Ample free parking is right outside; the store sits at the very end of one of the buildings. I don't get to Mililani that often, but this is worth stopping at while in the area. For those who frequent the comic cons and other conventions in Honolulu, they always have a booth with their higher end collectibles and various comics. The store is kept bright, clean, and well organized. Sitting at the end of the building, means natural light always shines in to show off all the colors and artwork. The store is small; comics line the walls and back, with collectibles on a center island and around the ceiling. Prices are typical for the area. The thing that is always most impressive is the genuinely friendly and nice staff; always greeting customers, asking questions, and just chatting about anything nerdy. My family is totally ecstatic about this type of store being open. What's even more awesome is that it is just a walk away from our house. My husband grew up in Mililani his whole life and remembers Jelly's being in Mililani. That's where he'd get all his comic books. My husband passed on his love of reading books (and reading comics, as well). Sadly, we all know the struggles of bookstores and how bookstores are a dying breed. We drive to Jelly's in Aiea for comic books and Barnes and Noble for books. Thanks to this store we can just walk over for the newest comic books!!! I'm not much of a comic person, but I do appreciate the Game of Thrones items they have! They sell collectibles, shirts, and other things. They sell the latest issues of comic books, and they'll special order things for you if they don't have it. My husband wanted a Spider-Man comic book for our daughter, and they placed the order right there. They'll call/email you when your order comes in. The family that runs the store is totally helpful and so very friendly. We love their story about why they started the store. Awesome! We are all for that.
