I was visiting London and was aghast at how scorched my hair had become in Greece. After checking…read morereviews on Yelp, I emailed TOKITO salon overnight and was able to book in for lunch the next day. I walked in very cautious because with a stylist who is a stranger, a lot can be misunderstood - plus, I have hair almost to my waist, and after encountering some stylists who seemed to feel like a few extra unasked inches off was not a big deal (wut), I am scared of new stylists... but no need for fear, here! Hiro is very attentive and listens very carefully, and clearly had no agenda but to apply his expertise to my direction. Hiro cut my hair dry so I could make adjustments as we saw the progress; he was very conservative at my request, and didn't complain in the least when I reconsidered my asks twice and wanted to cut even more to address the dry ends. It was clear I could trust him not to overdo it, which made me trust his judgement. After the main trim, he did a fantastic wash and head massage, used the dryer on only medium heat (which is so much better for your hair!) and did a little more touch-up trimming once my hair was fully blown out. I walked out feeling like a whole new person, and am super grateful to not have haggard hair for my last few days in London!

First of all, it's easy to find, and about a 8-10 minute walk from the tube. It's in East London, which is a great place to go anyway, and is very close to the Spitalfields Market. Inside, the decor is pretty simple- black walls with a neon "Pimps and Pinups" sign, and all the stylist's stations illuminated by flourescant lights. While you wait, you are offered a complimentary drink (or two, or three)- ranging from wine to beer to tea or coffee. I've had both the tea and the red wine, and was pleased with both! I had both Mel the first time, and a lovely red headed girl the second time but I unfortunately can't remember her name. Anyway, both were great! They both listened to exactly what I wanted and followed suit. They were easy to talk to and made the experience relaxing and fun. They play great music inside as well, and the wait for a stylist is very short (or perhaps feels that way with all the wine I was drinking, ha!)

The space that hosts this salon is fabulous, from the mirrors to the chairs. The vibe is completely relaxed and you can tell that the people that work here have a true passion for their job. They always have great music blasting on the speakers and sometimes they even have a live group playing. Rockabilly chic is the style of the day and Pimps and Pinups the masters of the look.

My stylist, Veronica was slightly frustrated when I was unable to articulate exactly what I wanted, but she was patient and talked me through my options. I was surprised at the amount of time and care she took, and I left feeling like I'd been taken care of by a senior stylist. Unfortunately the London rain and wind wrecked my look before the big party I was prepping for, but hey ho, not their fault!!

On arrival I was treated very well and the member of staff, who I think was the owner, was very polite and kind natured. I went in for a hair cut and she began washing my hair and gave me an amazing head massage. For the consultation she was very attentive and listened to what I wanted and made knowledgeable suggestions. She was very delicate in her approach and really seemed to care about what she was doing, ensuring I was comfortable and happy at all times. I also noticed how she was like this with all the other customers too. This is a nice, clean salon with good facilities and is great value for money. I highly recommend it. I will be going back and I am looking forward to trying out the pedicure where you get to sit on massaging chairs.

I work around Covent Garden and always wanted to try the legendary Vidal Sassoon hair treatment…read more Now I know he is famous but I am not sure what exactly he is famous for- maybe it is the hair colours or the very short pixie cuts So one day I had couple of hours to waste so instead of popping into a nice cafe for a coffee I decided that I will pamper my hair n try Vidal Sassoon. I walked in and asked if I can have a blow dry and they said yes right away- the woman mentioned that they don't use round brush !!! "So how am I going to get bouncy straight hair ? " I asked She said it will be bouncy and straight it is just their technique is different Now I am always up for trying new 'techniques' ( which I could change) I sat on the chair and started observing the different signature 'technique' that Vidal Sassoon bunch do And I was not happy at all! It was something like giving a brush to a 5 years old and a hair dryer I had something similar to a rough dry that usually you won't be charged for at all salons in london! This technique of not using round brush and having very low heat and recently just allowed to use GHD s might be perfect for someone with naturally straight hair but my wavy locks need some pressure to make them look good !! You might think that I am exaggerating but when I was in a queue waiting to pay the man on front desk thought I wanted to have a blow dry ! Simple because my hair looked like it was not even brushed! I paid £45 and told myself that wasting few hours feeding myself was definitely more rewarding, enjoyable and less expensive
