No wait time for me today. When I walked in, I was greeted by the owner and was told to immediately sit at a shampoo bowl. Takiya was my loctician today and she did a phenomenal job. Today, was my first time going to Dread N Heads in a moment. I felt a little bad since I just needed a couple cornrows to be done so I can do a wig install. I like to patronize my fellow Westernites #407 but I did not appreciate them stealing the locs that I provided for them to reconnect to my hair. These were my locs that I cut out of the crown of my head from previous thinning. I grew those from my own scalp not someone else's! Why would anyone take my hair? Then had the audacity to cut more of my locs out as if wouldn't notice. This was my first and last time going to this salon. I honestly enjoyed the hair wash immensely so kudos to the person that did that. I can do my own hair but I wanted to treat myself before going on vacation. I know how to do natural hair myself so the technique was incorrect that the owner used. There was entirely too much product used on my hair so teach your students the correct way. I've been sometimes and it's been good and sometimes not, it all depends on who you get. Some stylist aren't experienced and looks like they just pulled someone off the street to twist hair. We pay lots of money and it should not be anyone just experimenting on your hair, it's not right. My stylist left all of the ends fuzzy even after I asked for her to twist my hair all the way through. The other stylist can see that some of the stylists aren't doing peoples' hair right and still do not intervene. I have been going to this shop for a few years off and on but not consistently. Taja did my loc maintenance/repair on 7/1/22 and did my 16 yr old son and my 10 yr old daughters' maintenance. Taja is amazing!!! She does amazing work and I actually left feeling satisfied with my hair!! I'm very picky about my hair and it's rare I get my hair done and don't go home and fix something!!! Not with Taja!! Definitely going back to see her for future maintenance/style/repair needs. Very professional! read more

Honestly, 1 star is too much credit. I got my daughters hair done a few days ago and they started to come undone. The ends were not dipped or nothing. I said something the day it got done and the stylist NIKA said they didn't dip ends because they didn't have a kettle. Personal problem. If I pay for full service I need to get full service. I also washed, blow dried, and brought hair so since all she had to do was braid and dip the ends I wasn't seeing the issue. 2 days later when I noticed it was coking undone I called the shop and they were very rude and had to show up unannounced to get service. also called the stylist NIKA and asked for help. She said she was got of town and would call back. No call. No text. I called & got ignored so I went to the shop. Also a few months ago I took my daughter to get her ends clipped. The stylist NIKA "forgot" but I paid full price. If you want to get the full service for the price you pay DONT GO HERE!! They are unprofessional and will have you wasting your money. I paid 130 for the style. 20 for a tip. & 40 on hair. And gas going there 2x. That's 190+ for rushed work & bad customer service. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

I have been going to this salon off and on for my locs for the last three years. I normally give rave reviews as you can tell by my previous reviews and pictures on Google under my name Raven Torres. One of my photos has gotten over 30k views for this location and I always refer people, however the last time I went I was given to an amateur high school student, according to the stylist. I allowed her to continue services because you never know what type of talent the person may have based on their age. The young lady did not wash my hair very well, did not wrap my edges, did not check my hair under the dryer, I checked my hair numerous times telling her when it was dry. I have extremely thick 3c-4C hair once she removed the clips I asked if I needed to return to the dryer because my hair was still damp she started I did not need to and after 1day of a re-twist most of my locs were unraveling and all of them had white residue caked up on not just my hair but also my scalp from using African's best edge product. I can honestly say I will never be returning and it's not because of the owner Ms. Malakawho is a wonderful Loctician but because she often hires inexperienced stylist that she believes are fully trained and or not. I would rather take my 125-150 dollars else where. read more

I started coming here after a stylist at another shop messed up my hair. My starter locs looks terrible but Dreadz N Headz hooked me up. I drive a little over an hour to get there but it's worth it! I love coming here. The young lady who started my locs, Anna is such a beautiful spirit! She always explains what's she's doing and makes sure I'm okay with it. I was referred to this establishment by a friend and I recently went. My first time going they were highly unprofessional, having someone start my hair then switching to another person for her to get more practice. The female that twisted my hair did not know what I was getting done. Started doing her own thing, as well as putting way too much product in my hair and by the time she was half way done she asked what I was getting, to try to correct it instead of just starting over she just sat me under the dryer then persisted to try and fixed what she did which did not work. The manager even tried to tell her how to correctly palm roll but I'm guessing she insisted with her own style because my loc's were re-twisted very poorly. The next day after wrapping and laying down my hair, the style was still frizzy and my roots were already starting to become undone and the texture was as if they were hard similar to a crust feeling, as if I was needed for another maintenance soon. Please choose wisely with who you let in your hair lesson learned. read more

First timer in this shop or getting locs. Needless to say I was a little apprehensive & embarrassed because I had been neglecting my hair. ALL of the locticians were professional, friendly & put me at ease. Because of the damage I had done too my hair, I had to get it cut waaaay down, something I knew was going to happen but was in denial. So now I have a new do & fresh start for some healthy locs. The stylist that is closest to the door is the jokester, Anna was the stylist to put my mind at ease & Kesia(I know I'm spelling her name wrong) was my stylist & she was laid back & personable. I started bringing my nephew here for maintenance around the beginning of the summer, and always had a pretty good experience. The first time I came the shop didn't open uposition for a little over an hour after the listed time, but I said to myself no biggie because I understand that things happen. There were also a couple of times where there would only be one stylist in the shop for the first couple hours which resulted in longer than reasonable waits. I always try to get in right around the time that the shop opens as I work overnight and need to sleep during the day, so this was a little annoying but something that I felt I could put up with. However, I JUST called the shop to see if they were going to be open today (Labor Day) and if so when, since there Website says that their hours may vary. And the woman that I spoke with was crazy unprofessional and rude. I asked about them being open and she answered just fine, but when I asked how long the wait was she said "do you want to come in". I thought maybe she misunderstood me so I asked again. And she repeated herself "do you want to come in sir". I said I'm thinking about it but I have other things to do today so I'm just trying to get an idea of the wait and she cut me off towards the end of that and said they had enough stylists to take care of everybody and hung up before I could say anything else. I understand that they may have been busy or whatever, and I can deal with the occasional late opening as well as the occasional unreasonably long wait. But I have no tolerance for that type of disrespectful unprofessionalism. It was unwarranted and unnecessary, so I will not be returning to this establishment and I will not and would not recommend them anyone else. Professionalism should ALWAYS just be a given. read more
