Today is my birthday. I decided to treat myself and get a professional hair cut. I found Hair Talk through google maps. Seeing as the reviews were good I decided to set up an appointment. I'm so happy I did. The lady that washed my hair was amazing and I just melted in her hands. My head was massaged and I feel like the wash was well done. My scalp was happy! I was lucky to have Andy cut my hair. The reviews on his art was good so I was surprised to find out he was the stylist that took care of me. He did such a great job. I can't thank him enough for giving me a wonderful birthday hair cut. The charges were reasonable and worth every dollar. It was also the most tip I've given to any stylist. Called and asked to book an appointment with someone who has experience with curly hair. I mentioned that I need a trim and a blow out. The trim went fine but it became very clear to me that my stylist did not know how to give my curls a blow out! He said he would only be able to get me the blow out look by straightening my hair... I tried to work with him by suggesting he put product in my hair followed by blow drying it but he angrily said "I cant do it!" Then why was I told he had experience with it!? I needed this blow dry for my wedding in 2 days and they took advantage of my desperation! I still paid Andy the amount quoted but I truly should not have. I called on the phone to book a perm appointment and was scheduled at 2:30pm with Andy Lee. When I walked in for my appointment, I was told verbatim that Andy only works on Asian hair and that their products were not compatible with my hair. It's fine if that's their specialty but I thinks it's something to be mention when booking appointments for people so they're not wasting gas to drive over. I've been going to Migo for several years now and love this salon! Migo and I have literally tried every hair treatment from balayage, highlights, perms and all kinds of color treatments. She always ensures that we talk about options and ensures that my hairstyle and treatments meet my lifestyle and are manageable for me between visits. I love that Migo totally understands my hair and how it grows and reacts. At my most recent treatment we talked for a while to figure out what to do with my hair for the next year since my hair has been treated and needed a little time to recover for a perm. I appreciated Migo's honestly and that she worked with me to find a long-term plan for what I want to do with my hair. She's also the best at coloring!!! My friends and I have tried everything from pink to silver with Migo's help and it always looks amazing! My husband was trying to find a stylist that could cut Asian hair. We landed at Hair Talk as a walk-in. They were able to accommodate him within a few minutes, which was nice. I was offered tea while I was waiting for him and I heard another client being offered the use of a locker to store her things prior to her appointment. There's free wifi available there; it would be nice if they had a sign with the password or made that information readily available but it wasn't. My husband wished he had been offered tea, given he was the actual client, but he wasn't. My husband's haircut took probably 15 minutes or less and cost about $30. He liked how the sides were cut, which he's very particular about, but he was kind of unhappy about the top because it was cut unevenly. I looked at his hair too - and granted, I have no expertise in that department - and even I could tell that it was pretty unevenly cut. They did cover him up during the hair cut and rinse his hair after but he had bits of hair everywhere on his face. In summary, we did appreciate that they were able to accommodate him as a walk-in and it sounds like they do provide nice additional services for clients (free wifi, tea, lockers) provided they tell you about it or you ask, but we felt like the quality of the hair cut wasn't worth the price so we'll probably keep looking. read more

I came here yesterday looking to clean up the sides of my head and small trim on top. I had previously permed hair from a different salon. I made it clear I want to maintain some curls in my hair but my stylist pulled down all my hair and then cut way too much off. I had just permed my hair two months ago and now I have to wait to let it grow out and re-perm. I had some special events planned over the next 2 weeks and I am pissed that my hair looks like this now. I will be looking to chargeback/get some sort of money back for this. I used to go to Migo and Sarah, who were amazing and friendly but they both left. I decided to try them again since my daughter needed a cut and school was out. I made 12 hours prior, there was plenty of availability. Online, I chose kids haircut , girls, and it listed the cut as $30, which is still steep for a children's haircut. My daughter has been going there since her first haircut and I had always been happy with the previous hairstylists. I booked with Yohan who had many available appointments. He did not greet us when we said hello and asked if my daughter was a boy when she has a very girly name. I asked if the stylist was able to cut girls hair and he said yes. No introduction, no smile, no pleasantries. He then clapped his hands and told us to follow him. I should've left then, but I had brought my kids in and was already there. He did not shampoo her hair, just took her straight to the chair. He cut my daughter's hair with very few words. I kept encouraging her because she did not seem comfortable. When we went to pay, he charged $55. I told him I booked online and it quoted $30 multiple times and that I wouldn't have booked it for $55. He said it was a new system and that their clients know their prices and do not bring their children because of it. I told him I used to go there frequently. He asked who I saw. I said both my daughter and I saw Sarah. He said the prices went up, obviously I can see that. I reiterated that I would not have brought her if that was the case. He typed something into the card system but it still was $55. I had to ask him again if he would change it to the $30 that I had been quoted online. He said men's haircuts are $40 and he could not charge less than that. He changed it to $40 with no apologies and a sigh. I had my kids with me so I did not want to fight it further. I have never ever experienced such bad service, it would have been one thing to have been treated well from the beginning but to feel like I'm inconveniencing him and then to be overcharged. That's a classic bait and switch and false advertising. I feel scammed. I checked their online system because I'm still in disbelief that a business could operate that way. They disabled it. If you made a mistake by putting up the wrong price, you should honor it. Not once, did he dispute that it said $30 online just that it shouldn't be that price for a little girls haircut. I came here to get my hair done by Migo. Hair Talk is located on the 2nd floor, after I checked in, someone at the cashier offered me a drink. They have lockers to put your stuff and bathrooms towards the back. The layout of this hair salon is modern and chic. Migo is super knowledgeable and extremely talented. I have really long black hair and I was worried that it would take forever but she was able to get my hair done in 3 - 4 hours (I was impressed). If you getting your hair dyed, it does take time so grab a boba or something before you go there. I was starving towards the end. Anyways, I got a rose gold balayage and the end result: beautiful. Look at my photos to see how awesome it turned out. It is pretty pricey to get a balayage; my hair reached halfway down my back and it was about $400 - $500. And every time you wash your hair, the color will fade. It's been about a month since I got my hair dyed and it looks more blonde orange rather than rose gold - but this is expected (Migo told me upfront). You can go back to get a toner done for about $150 which I think I might have to do. Overall, my experience was great with Migo and I highly recommend her. My experience at Hair Talk was 100% amazing. I took the plunge and got rainbow hair for my birthday. Everyone at the salon was very helpful. There was a locker for me to store my things and I was encouraged to bring snacks for the long day - rainbow hair takes quite a while! I could plug in my kindle and phone as well. The styling chairs are very comfortable, good back support. The chairs for washing hair have good neck support and can accommodate long hair. I worked with Migo Yoon and I recommend her highly. She went above and beyond to get my hair safely lightened to accept the vivid colors. She had great attention to detail and took her time blending the colors in each section of hair. Such a wonderful experience going to Migo for my new hair style and color. She was very thorough from the initial consultation all the way to the end finished product! It took 4 hours to do my hair, she was so meticulous and it was totally worth it. She took the time to make sure that each color process was flawless. Patrons BEWARE: If an hairstylist does not like your mask when you walk in, they will make you take off your mask because something bothers them about it and have you wear one of theirs. I felt uncomfortable taking off my mask and wear one of theirs. I had a N95 mask on when I walked and they told me to wear something more suitable for them. Migo is always my go-to person for my hair. She did magic perm, digital perm, and just recently, she colored (ombre/balayage) my hair (Asian, wavy black) to ash gray, which I really liked, by the way. She explained how she will apply the hair color, gave tips and suggested products to prolong its effect, and was honest about the colors not always being the same, and that a touch-up will be necessary sometime soon. So I made an appointment online and waited about 2-3 weeks. And yes, Migo is such a talented, knowledgeable, and friendly stylist, and she did an excellent job! The consultation itself took about an hour, which means she really listens to clients' requests and tries her best to inform clients what the results would look like, and achieve mutual understanding. And I really appreciated how she thoroughly explained the procedure, answered my questions, and gave some advice to care for my hair afterward. Because of my grey hair, Migo took extra care, and the whole procedure took about 5 hours. But it was bearable as she constantly checked in with me and fed me with snacks. And I love how my hair turned out. Getting balayage/ombre is pricey, but considering the average price, I think it is totally worth it getting balayage done by Migo. I also highly recommend stylist JK for both women and men haircuts!! He is also very talented and knowledgeable. Wow. I am blown away that a place like this exists in the United States, let alone in Maryland of all places. I felt like I was transported back to Korea in all the best ways. The atmosphere, the music and the people. Everything was great. The people who work here are extremely friendly. I've gone to so many hair salons in this Tri-State and DelMarVa area and I can confidently say Migo knows what she is doing 100%. I normally don't trust people with my hair but I decided to give Hair talk a chance because of their good reviews, wrong choice. Sarah Chang gave me the nastiest chemical burn on the back of my neck and when I asked for a full refund they refused to give me one. Now I have to go to the hospital to get my burn treated, I have to deal with constant pain, irritation, and skin peeling because these people did not care for my safety or well being. When I tried to post the picture of my chemical burn on google reviews it got removed (most likely by Hairtalk). Now I understand why there are so many good reviews, all the bad ones most likely get flagged or removed by the company. Overall horrible experience do NOT go there. read more

I was pleased to choose Hair Talk and see my hair after 5 hours! I have had a difficult time finding a perfect hair salon for my hair while living in Baltimore. Previously, I've been to Sprout, Crafted hair, and Color Fx, but I was never satisfied. I've had my hair dyed in black about a few months ago, so I was slightly worried about coloring my hair because I wanted to try ombre or balayage. I went to the salon 30 minutes earlier and met Migo for counseling. She is the person you want to talk to if you are considering bright colors and complicated ones!! Migo really cared for my hair, the outcome, my budget, and all the pros/cons. She tested my hair first if we can actually try bright colors. After the test, she suggested several options and I chose green! I was hoping to maintain my hair as long as possible without having to come back to often. She gave me advice regarding how to take care of hair afterward and when I should come back again. Unfortunately, I'm moving to Connecticut soon but I'm totally willing to come back to get my hair done by Migo when I have a chance to stay in Baltimore. It took almost 8 months since I moved to Baltimore, but I've finally found my new hair salon. I will now be getting Alex to cut my hair on a regular basis. He is an absolute perfectionist and makes sure that you leave the salon both satisfied and a little more stylish. A men's haircut from him will cost you $20, while one with the owner, Andy, will cost you $25 (though, I haven't had a haircut from Andy yet). Either way, it's worth it when you get the finished product. My favorite part of the haircutting experience is definitely the hair wash. The young lady that does that thoroughly washes your hair while providing complimentary head massaging services, making you feel like you're in temporary paradise. I've been getting my hair cut here for about a year now. Migo always spends her time making sure it's perfect. I get my hair cut short, pixie-style, and it's hard to find a good stylist who won't just make it look like an untextured blob. I've been trying out the regular perms and those add extra texture and ease to my mornings. My husband also gets his hair cut here and never leaves disappointed. Hair stylists are very versatile and talented. I'm not sure about other stylists but there's usually a two-week wait for appointments so don't wait.
