    Dream Ice Cream

Sweet dreams are made of ice cream. Especially rolled ones. Dream Ice Cream is a kiosk (level one) located inside Flatiron Crossing Mall and, according to their website, are also located and/or opening at Southwest Plaza and Colorado Mill Mall. Menu? Ten different rolled ice cream creations to pick and choose from, which are the following: strawbelicious, peanut butter blast, chocorilla, n.y. cheesecake, matcha mania, avocado adventure, monkey business, espresso feast, 2tone favorite, and trio berries. A create-your-own option is not advertised or shown. Cost? For ice cream, it's considered pretty steep. The prices are $6.99-$7.99 each + tax but I guess you'll have to factor in the "experience" of having ice cream rolled before your eyes versus it being scooped from a tub. Wait time? For a busy, late afternoon on a Sunday, I stood in line for about 15-20 minutes to place my order and then another 10-15 minutes for the ice cream. It wasn't too bad especially since two out of four ice cream rollers disappeared during the wait to get more supplies. Portions? Generous amount of ice cream, where two people can easily share for a small dessert. The toppings my family and I had on our ice creams were just enough. However, as I was watching the magical process of rolled ice cream, I've witnessed a couple of people's creations get buried with whipped cream to cover the visibly empty spaces in between ice cream rolls. Taste? I've had rolled ice cream more times I can count within this last year so I may have higher expectations than those who are unfamiliar with rolled ice cream. Here we go... The matcha mania needed a hint more matcha flavor but I loved that red bean was incorporated into the base. In my opinion, the "buddle" ball (typo on the menu) is a strange topping to me but maybe because I'm not a huge fan of fruity popping boba with any foods besides froyo. I also wished that the marshmallows were large and toasted as shown in the photo on the menu. My husband and our three little kids scarfed down their strawbelicious whilst my fourteen year old had an espresso feast. There were no complaints from them but what kid complains about ice cream? Haha. If you're in the area and haven't tried rolled ice cream, then check out Dream Ice Cream. You might find and even be one of the many of onlookers nearby (and even the level above) watching the magical creation of rolled ice cream.

I have been wanting to try rolled ice cream for a while now since it is all the rave! Dream Ice Cream is located in Flat Irons Mall in Broomfield in front of the Oakley store. The kiosk is pretty small for as much business as they do. If I had to guess, this is their test run before they would invest in larger space. I had the Espresso Rolled Ice Cream. While you wait in line, you can see the employees making the rolled ice cream and it truly is a work of art. It isn't something you can just scoop in a cup, they take a lot of time to make sure the ice cream is completely flat before they roll it. To me, this is a work of art! After your ice cream is rolled into a cup, it goes to the topping station where they add the toppings that go with your choice. I wanted to give 5 stars because it was so yummy but in the picture it looked like mine should've had more toppings and it didn't so I was slightly disappointed. The lines are pretty long for this place because it does take longer to make. They do give you a number to call out when yours is ready. The other issue is the lack of space. This place was BUSY even on a 40 degree day and people were crowded around. Dream is located in the center of the walkway in the mall so it's hard to really spread out while waiting. I think this is a great place and the ice cream was amazing, very light and flavorful. I just wish they had more space for everyone to enjoy!

Not cheap, but a fun experience. The ice cream is different enough to warrant an occasional trip.
