The first technician that my spouse was paired with was awful and he was reusing the disposable files that they're suppose to throw out after every client. His station was sticky, dirty and he wasnt listening when my wife very clearly told him what she did and did not want. She was super clear when she walked in and registered for the appointment that she just wanted a fill and new color, but to keep the length. She reiterated to the technician not to cut, just fill and new color with a simple design that she pulled out her phone to show him the shape which could be filed and the color and design. He was too rough and began cutting when she specifically told him not to. She stopped him and corrected him, and he lied and said she wanted them cut. She did not and she had stated that TWICE before they began. He was too rough while drilling down too hard and thinned the nail out too much and she was trying to tell him that but he SHUSHED her with his finger to his mouth like she was a child, pointing to his ear & he said he was ON AN APPOINTMENT PHONE CALL and she was disrupting him (WHILE HE IS SUPPOSE TO BE DOING HER NAILS-- COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND IT'S HIS FAULT HE MESSED UP BECAUSE HE WASNT PAYING ATTENTION TO HER, HE WAS FOCUSED ON A PERSONAL CALL IN HIS EAR INSTEAD OF THE PAYING CUSTOMER IN FRONT OF HIM. So, then when he applied the gel it BURNED and she had never experienced that with the previous technicians that she had gotten her nails done by at this same location this year. She told him it burned and he tried to tell her "That's Normal"-- NO IT'S NOT! She's gotten her nails done for years and has only had this problem when she has had an unlicensed technician who doesnt give AF. He also was about to cut her with his dirty ass drill because he was going too hard around the edges and his work was uneven and sloppy. She pulled her hand away, got up and distanced herself from him because he was just unprofessional and rude, and did not care that he was hurting her. She asked the manager if there's someone with way more experience who does really good nails who can help her since she now has naked nails. He did thankfully put her with Kevin i believe who was so much better. His station was very clean and he had a gold metal file that he sterilized before use. He also had a professional apron unlike most others so I could tell he takes his craft more seriously. He fixed the issue and finished her nails much to her satisfaction except one nail is shorter than the other (I think one of the thumbs) because that other tech cut it against her wishes. We were not offered any discount or anything, and we wont be back again because this is just not consistent quality work here nor sanitary. Manager didnt even say they were sorry, just nodded their head and said they'd talk to the guy after he was done with his next customer. I doubt they give a s***, but even if they had offered a discount or gift card, I would not come back after this last experience. We only started coming to this location because the other nail salon we use to always go to in Arlington has been very busy and not as big with only a couple of technicians so we have to make an appointment and sometimes wait still for a bit-- but honestly, they're way better and worth waiting a bit compared to Modern Nails. Go to First Lady nails in Arlington Poughkeepsie area if you want to be treated like an important customer and the owner will remember you if you become a repeat client, she is usually quite nice and personable, and professional IMO. However, at this point, I'm just going to find an independent tech with their own space or who is mobile who can come by my office to do my wife's nails. I'd rather pay someone who is licensed and who will be 100% dedicated to delivering high quality nails and a safe, sanitary experience than keep bouncing chop shop to chop shop risking my wife's health and causing her frustration during something that is suppose to be a relaxing, luxury experience. I do not recommend Modern Nail Bar in PK-- it looks nice from the outside but cleanliness levels vary per tech. If you do go here, check the station and tools before you let them touch you. Make sure they're using sanitized professional METAL tools-- if they're using the single-use files, they are not able to be sterilized and are only meant to be thrown away after each customer! It's basic hygiene and professional standard. They do not have their license posted visibly so I doubt they're licensed. I wish I had seen more of the recent reviews before we had gone there again. We went 4 times since October 2025 and this was the last time. Looks like several other people have had similarly bad experiences with the techs sharing tools and not sanitizing them & not listening.

This was my first visit to First Lady Nail Salon. I chose it after reading other reviews here…read more First thing I liked about it was the location and parking availability. I didn't have to worry about on street parking since it is in a strip mall and I was able to get a parking spot in the shade during this terrible heat wave. First impression inside was that it was very clean and popular. Due to other reviews I came prepared with a book, in case I had a long wait, even though I did have a reservation for my pedicure. I was pleasantly surprised when I was taken to a chair after only a 15 minute wait. It had been a while since my last pedicure so I chose one of the spa options "The Vitamin C - Fruity Spa". This was perfect with the callus removal, massage and scrub. Maggie was my technician and she was very sweet and attentive. She brought me a fruit juice of my choice and then began the service. It was so relaxing and well done. It took almost exactly an hour from start to finish (not including drying time). I felt the price was reasonable for what I received. I asked for a flower on each big toe, which I was very happy with - simple, but so cute. While I was waiting for my nails to dry Maggie even gave me a short shoulder massage! I will definitely be back!

They're very clean, i've never had any reaction. They provide a complimentary beverage during pedicures and are always friendly. I can't say i've ever asked for any designs or anything super complicated but my mother has and hers came out phenomenal.

It was so bittersweet after my Colombian nail tech in my previous White Plains neighborhood…read morementioned that she will not be able to return to NY. On the other hand, cutting out that hour and a half drive to get to her (I'd catch up with a bulk of other errands while I'm at it) gives me some serious time and energy while I'm closer to home. Plus not having her around ;-( gave me a chance to branch out and look for a nail salon in Kingston. A bunch of the low Yelp ratings I saw for other nail salons elsewhere had huge red flags: bad technique, rushed jobs, or even unsanitary tools. The way I see it, when it comes to personal care like nails, you definitely want to see high ratings and consistent praise. I mean, don't you? While Pretty X only has one review, that was enough to bring me here. I honestly came here on a whim. Pretty Xo is dreamy, soft, welcoming and clean. The space has a minimalist-chic feel with their airy, beige walls, flooring is done in blonde wood planks and faux florals adding a touch of color. I started with Lily for my manicure who was super gentle, which I really appreciated. Then Yan took over for my pedicure. She wasn't so frilly- but definitely not rough- just the right amount of strength and attention for my legs. She took her time, especially with trimming and from there, it was all uphill. It's not only about aesthetics (though it's important to me)- it's also about hygiene, safety, and someone working up close and personal on your hands and feet. The $63 price tag is a bit more than what I used to spend, but honestly, it was worth it for the serene and relaxing atmosphere.
