This is a revised review. Last week my son brought my Juke Nismo in for a brake replacement. Over the phone, I was treated to a barrage of 'upsells' of NECESSARY things the techs supposedly found I needed ranging from
-an oil change for $90 (I had just changed the oil myself a month prior) -$66 for a new cabin air filter ($10 part that takes less than 30 seconds to self-install).
-$75 for wiper blade replacement ($20 pair of wipers that can be self-installed with no special training)
-$559 for brake replacement and 'rotor resurfacing' (they just turned the rotors, there was no resurfacing)
-Tires needed replacing (I just put these Michelin tires on brand new a month ago)
I let Brandon (the service agent) know that I only needed the brakes. He stated they had to do the brakes and rotors together, there was no way to only do one without the other (a lie, but I needed new pads and the car was already there) Brandon let me know he could add a $50 off coupon from their website to my bill and make the brake replacement with rotors $509. I agreed and then when it came time to bill my card, I was surprised when my phone alerted me that I had been billed $618, not the $509 I had agreed to. It was only then Brandon let me know that there was a 3% surcharge for using a debit card. Something that must be disclosed before billing a customer but was not. This was on TOP of the fact that he lied about adding the $50 coupon to my order.
I left a negative Yelp review and was contacted by Richard, the Operations Director of Dream Nissan who asked me to remove my negative review while he researched the issue to make it right, so I removed the review and waited. This morning, he got back to me to offer....a free oil change for my trouble. Something I can do myself, to begin with. he then offered a $100 store credit. Pretty lame as far as incentives go, but I agreed to offer that option to my son who would make the final call.
My son then reached out as the car needed a valve stem replacement for a slow leak on one tire and a replacement antenna. Both parts are inexpensive and fairly easy to install without mechanic experience. My son wanted to see if they would be as honest and as helpful as they claimed they wanted to be to win our business.
They quoted $110 for parts alone PLUS labor to install both parts. I just purchased the parts to put on myself. Valve stem - $5 Antenna for 2013 juke nismo - $17.
When offering to make things right with a customer, perhaps try actually making things right instead of trying to continue to fleece your customers under the guise of 'helping' Women are already on guard when bringing a vehicle in for repairs so when you're clued in that the woman knows how to work on her own car, she has some idea of what parts cost, don't quote a stupidly bloated price.
It's insulting. read more
