I have a long history in the automotive field, having worked in high school as a lot boy, detailer, oil change specialist, service writer, sales, finance, and then general manager. After that I spent 15+ years as a consultant to the automotive industry and several more in the automotive aftermarket. In other words, I know my way around a dealership(or at least I think I do) The front end: All of the same salespeople, Finance, and General Manager. This place is no revolving door, it's obvious that they listen to their employees. Everything starts at the top, and Todd Tumminia is always in a good mood. During the Pandemic, his lot was virtually empty and he said new cars were coming in a trickle and used cars were nonexistent, his lot showed that. His attitude was "All in good time" Back in my days in the business, I would've needed a heart transplant. You can't sell it if you don't have it" was our motto. So I'd say he's pretty easy to work for. The service department is very proficient, they have everything covered. I get right in and right out, never any excuses. The service manager carries his small dog around in a satchel, which I think is great. I'm sure they're both the better for it. Then, there's Sonny. Sonny Tumminia is four legged family and he's in charge of greeting customers, and he loves children. The attitude is decidedly casual, as it should be. As somebody with a lot of experience, I very much appreciate that. And hopefully, you do too. read more

Bought a car from them about three years ago and have been hesitant to write a review, but others need to know about this place. Love the car. That's not the issue, it's the service that's the issue. It was my wife buying the car; however, the sales person seemed to only want to talk to me, and not my wife, despite me telling him several times it was her buying the car and he should be talking and asking questions to her. On top of that the sales person told us several lies while selling us the car. For example, they said they offered car loaners when you got oil changes there (not true). Since buying the car, my wife has gotten the oil changed several times at the service center. Each time, the service reps are very rude to her. After our recent attempt to schedule an oil change was met with a rude scheduling person, we finally decided we would stop taking the car here. Love the Mazda we bought, but would advise others to go to another Mazda dealership. read more

Turns out Tumminia didn't install my front struts correctly so I'm at another Mazda dealership where to get the problem fixed, will cost me as much as it was to have the struts replaced just 6 months ago. After speaking with Mr. Tumminia, he agreed to fix the problems his service department caused at no charge. Which I appreciated, but I was very reluctant to allow a known quantity to do more damage. I agreed and when I got the call my car was ready, it was another disappointment. Unfortunately, they didn't "fix" the damage, they tightened the loose nut causing the problem but left the part damaged by improper installation in the car, so I'm now expecting it to prematurely fail at some point in the future. Fixing the problem would have been replacing the damaged part with a new one... This was a band aid on the problem so I will shut up and go away. So far the noise has gone away, the car now pulls slightly to the left and the steering is very tight. Guessing they didn't check the alignment after they tightened up the loose strut. Had to laugh, as I was picking up my car, still not repaired, their service advisor was still trying to promote his tire sale. Send me out into the world with problems I have to pay someone else to fix and you want me to buy tires from you???? read more

I take back anything positive that I have said about these guys. When we purchased a used car we were told, "the previous owner is coming into the dealership in a few days to finish paperwork and return the 2nd key". After badgering the salesman for three weeks we found out the previous owner never came back to the dealership. I called the used car sales manager who in turn alleged that we were told when we bought the car to assume a 2nd key would not be forthcoming. What a scam. They profit from the buyer having to reprogram the car's security system and buy a new key. If you confront them for lying to you, they simply lie about telling you a lie. I would not recommend buying a used car from this dealership. read more

if I could give a "0" star rating I would. Needed repair on my brand new Mazda. Was told they could complete repair that day. When I told them I was submitting to insurance, suddenly it would be 4 days and additional work would be needed. They completed additional work that I believed was unnecessary and told the tech I did not want them to do. They did it anyway and submitted to my insurance. I when I brought my concerns to the service manager, he was rude and unprofessional. I received the same rude, unprofessional service from the General Manager. I have reported this dealership for what I believe to be insurance fraud. read more

I moved to a different side of town and tried out this dealership for my routine mazda maintenance. There was a noticeable decline in the facilities and staff in comparison to the former location I was used to. On my most recent oil change and inspection, I was told that I needed both front and rear brakes and was quoted ~$1000 for replacement. The service report noted both front and rear brakes measured at 2mm (in the red and in need of immediate replacement). I went to my local brakes specialist who was kind enough to personally show me that the lowest point he was able to identify on any of my brake pads was 5mm and in many areas were 6mm. I was appalled! I thought perhaps maybe they accidentally gave me the form for a different car, but sure enough the mileage and everything else matched up perfectly. To blatantly lie about something as objective as this simple measurement is just trash business. I called to speak with someone about it and was forwarded to a supervisor's voicemail. I left a voicemail which was never returned. I will not be returning. read more

The problem is that NO one other than the service techs wore masks. Sitting the waiting room and disgusted at the unmasked employees walking around maskless. First and foremost, don't be using chewing tobacco while showing me cars. The second we went out to look at different cars I was treated to the repeated sounds of spitting big wads of chew on the ground. It is gross and completely off-putting. Then when you go to get a business card, you have to stop and spit into a cup in front of me. How is this acceptable to you or your boss?!? Second, we we're just checking things out and had spent about 20-25 minutes being helped by our spit loving salesman. Hadn't done a test drive, told him we were looking at options first and needed to leave shortly. The guy at the big desk then gives us the following spiel from halfway across the room "Roger spent a good amount of time with you so if we can get you in a car today, that would be great. Come on over and let's see what we can do for you on pricing.". First up, Roger spending 20 minutes doing his job isn't really reason enough to get me to buy a car. Second, we haven't even test drove anything. Third, we are working with Roger here (only until we can leave though) and told him we aren't buying at this moment so don't be butting in and pushing a sale when we are absolutely not buying. Maybe work out a signal between yourselves to know when someone is worth pushing a little more on. There is ZERO chance we are buying in this moment, so stop pushing. If we feel like test driving and possibly moving forward with a sale, we are going somewhere else. Have enough respect for me to not be constantly spitting chew in my presence. read more

Reminder light on the used Mazda 3 I purchased Aug of 2017. First stop was to autozone to check what the light was for. Autozone said probably just scheduled maintenance. So I got online booked an appointment at this location. When I arrived the following morning, the drop area was empty which I was relieved to see. Unfortunately, I would find out in a just a few minutes why it was so empty. I thanked him for his time and said no thank you. He then says with a sneakish smile, "what you don't have 45 min to wait?" as if that were the problem. That was not the problem. The problem was that he was trying to coerce me! In hindsight I wish now I had saved the guy that signed me in card. He proceeded to try and coerce me to have services done to my car that were not needed! Maybe because I am a woman and he thought I didn't know much about vehicles. But without even looking at the vehicle, running any kind of diagnostic and even after I let him know the vehicle had had the oil changed, tires rotated, all fluids checked only 4 months ago and according to the mileage it was not time yet. So he basically says two or three times that they would only do any sort of diagnostic after I booked a tire rotation and oil change for $89 at which point he would turn off the reminder light. Thank god for my husband being car savvy and sharing his knowledge with me. I got to work and did some research. It turned out the reminders just hadn't been updated from previous owner, the oil change was only due in another 2,000 miles, the tires were rotated and checked for free at Discount tires (which were awesome!!!!) and I learned how to turn off and set the reminders on my vehicle for when service is actually due. We had to do a huge shout out to this place. My mother left her keys in a loaner car (which was a beautiful loaner). We placed a call after 7 pm, the owner answered and personally handled this situaton. We live close to an hour away, he found the keys and offered to overnight them, gratis. We so appreciative especially since I had driven back and forth 2 days in a row. We were very happy with the service that we received. We had purchased our car last March right before Covid shut everything down. We have returned 2 times for routine service and a minor repair. read more

I've visited dozens of dealerships all over the country over my lifetime. This was a great experience. Fritz (salesman) and all others we came into contact were pleasant and responsive. On the first visit I looked over some vehicles and test drove two. The test drives were enough to let me know that the CX9 is a possible vehicle for my wife and me. Given my response, there was no pressure to try to close a deal on that day. Managers introduced themselves and left me with a come back and see us if you think a CX9 is right for you. A week or so later I noticed they had a CX9 in the color and trim we'd potentially be interested in owning. I stopped by and took it home so my wife could look it over and test drive it. In the meantime, they checked over my truck and put together an offer. When I returned they gave me a fair offer for my truck and a fair offer on the CX9. We typically sleep on bigger decisions like this and there was no pressure to do anything other than that. I received a follow-up call from Fritz the following business day that I did not return. He called again a day later and I told him we're not convinced the CX9 is right for us. No pressure again. Based on our experience, if a Mazda is in our future, it'll be purchased from Tumminia. If you think a Mazda is in your future, make sure to check with Tumminia. read more

I have been taking my car here for at least 8 years, and I have always been impressed with their service, as well as their friendly attitude. Unfortunately, I recently had a very disappointing experience with them, and I will not be going back. I have replaced headlight bulbs on my cars many times, but last October I broke the driver's side headlight assembly on my son's Mazda 6 while replacing the low beam bulb. I knew I couldn't fix it myself, so I took it to Tumminia in November to get it fixed. The service manager said it would probably be expensive. As I told him, I really didn't have a choice, since it had to be fixed, and I knew it was my fault for breaking it. When we picked the car up my son noticed that the headlights didn't look quite right, but we assumed it was probably because of different types of bulbs on the two sides. After my experience with the last bulb, I decided to let Tumminia put new bulbs in both sides, and we finally took the car back in in February to have it done. It was then that I found out that for some reason they had replaced the passenger side headlight assembly back in November instead of the driver's side assembly. They tried to tell me that the passenger side assembly was broken, so that's the one they replaced. I knew for a fact that the driver's side was broken, because I was the one who broke it, and it was the one I pointed out to the service manager. My son had run over a dead deer in October and tore up part of the plastic belly pan, which was the other reason we took the car in for service. Unless running over this dead deer could break the headlight assembly, then someone was flat out lying to me. I had replaced that low beam bulb earlier last year, and it was working fine when we took it in to Tumminia. One complement I do have for Tumminia is how quickly their management responded to the e-mail I sent them noting how unhappy I was with what happened. Todd Tumminia himself called me within 30 minutes of my sending the e-mail (about 9:00 at night), and he seemed to care deeply about getting to the bottom of things. Of course, the only information Todd had was what his people told him. Unfortunately, someone is either plain lying, or they failed to follow through with standard quality control, like turning the headlights on after fixing them to make sure they are aligned properly. If they had done this they would have noticed that things were messed up. After paying them $570 to replace a perfectly fine headlight assembly, I was not about to pay another $570 to replace the broken one. When I told Todd I was buying my own headlight assembly on Amazon for $240 he offered to have it installed for free, but I had no desire to step foot in there again. Thanks to YouTube, my son and I installed the new headlight assembly ourselves in around 2 hours. This incident just made me question all the other repairs I have had done there in the past, and wonder how many of them were actually required. I can't afford to be paying for needless repairs, so I will be taking my car elsewhere for service from now on. read more

This review is a long time coming. I can't say how pleased I have been with the customer service over the years from the ladies and gentlemen at Tumminia Mazda. I purchased my first car, an '06 Mazda 6 in 2009. It was practically new having been traded in with less than 20k miles by the original owner. In 2011 I traded my Mazda 6 for a 2011 Mazda cx7. Never once was I pushed to purchase a car I wasn't totally in love with. The sales men were always knowledgeable and helped work out the best deal for me possible. Since the purchase of my cx7 I have moved from KS to CA and back again. My little crossover is the best vehicle for such moves! Both times I towed a fully loaded 4x8 Uhaul and that little 4 cylinder pulled the weight like a champ. While in CA I tried out two different Mazda dealerships for service and every experience was sub-par to what I was used to from Steve and the guys in the service dept at Tumminia. Upon returning home to KC I took my car to OP Mazda to repair a leaking transmission pan that had been poorly resealed (twice!) in CA. The first impression and customer service didn't meet my expectations once again so I returned to Tumminia and now know I will never take my cars anywhere else. I bought my Mazda here about three years ago. I traded in my 2004 Saab with about 100k, and they gave me around $4k for it, which was far more than it was worth. They sold me my 2013 Mazda for under invoice; plus, they gave me the rebate money and 0% interest. I thought they were a little overpriced on the 100k exclusionary warranty, but I wasn't going to haggle too much more after the great deal that they gave me. I couldn't have gotten a better deal anywhere else in town (I went to at least three other Mazda dealers before purchasing from them). The car salesman that I worked with, Ray, was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Plus, it is the most reliable car that I have ever owned. The only drawback is their service department, so I don't take my car for service there anymore. But I would definitely buy another car from them. read more

We purchased a new car at this dealer 6 months ago. We were treated well until we needed to have some repairs done after my fiancee' hit a curb. We took it in to have them go through it and have it fixed before a trip out of town. Originally it was a grinding noise coming from the front; which is what we told them was the problem that needed fixed. They fixed many things and aligned it, however when she got it back the problem still remained. The shop foreman told us it was roadworthy when we returned the next Monday, and we'd have to wait & no courtesy cars available. Upon figuring out the problem he told us he wouldn't tell the mechanic what he thought it was to see if he could figure it out. We were appalled. When we took the car to have it repaired the following day, we expressed our frustration at the fact the original problem was never fixed, and the shop foreman proceeded to tell my Fiancee' "well I didn't wreck the car" in a very harsh tone. We later went in to pick up the car and told the teller about our experience, my Fiancee' was nearly in tears by the time she was done. The teller(the only pleasant person there) said she would have a manger call us in regards to the way we were treated. I later received a call from an owner who wanted to get the straight of it. I told him how we had been treated, and that through all of the repair experiences I have had, never had I been treated so poorly by someone. I have dealt with almost every kind of mechanic/ shop there is having ran a large grain farm, but none as rude as these. He was unsympathetic to the service his staff had provided and accused me of being mad when I was speaking in a very mellow tone (even though I would've liked to told him what I really thought). Overall I would say stay as far away as you can from this dealer at all costs. read more

Sales guy took me for a test drive. Following him to the parking lot, he kept spitting on the ground. When we went into his office, he kept lifting his trash can to his mouth and spitting into it. Not just disgusting, but unbelievably rude. Then I ask for the price. He has to leave the office for 15 minutes to find out. First of all, why don't you have this info ready? Secondly, what's that computer and telephone in your office for? Can you not look it up there? He couldn't much do better than the sticker, so I left. read more

Great experience. Rich my salesman was awesome. Laid back no pressure and worked with me on getting a fair deal. I was not looking forward to buying a used car, I was very nervous. I have leased our last few vehicles and I just need something to drive to work and out of town to keep the miles off the lease cars. I was worried about certain work that is supposed to be done on an Acura that is pretty pricey, rich and his guys called the dealership that carfax showed where the car has been serviced and they confirmed that the work was done. SOLD!! I also had a problem with the car the day after I bought it. Called rich up and asked if there was anything they could do (thinking they would say no) they said bring it in we will look at it. I was thinking me paying half would be fair. NOPE!! They fixed it FREE of charge. You've got to be shitting me! Who does that!?? This place does. All in all they really care about their customers. It's really hard to find that in the car business. I have purchased 16 cars in my time. I have never bought twice from the same dealership. I will buy again from Tumminia and Rich. read more

I recently bought a new 2011 Mazda 2. And I love it. I would absolutely recommend a Mazda! ... However, if you're in the market for a new vehicle, do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy from Tumminia Mazda in Olathe, KS. The sales rep was alright, but honestly, I had done my homework, I knew what I wanted and was ready to go. So it was a pretty easy sale on his part. However, not 6 months after driving this new car off the lot, I've had two faulty tires. I had them checked out at a third party tire company and was told that they were faulty, bubbling and dangerous to drive on. After calling Tumminia Mazda, I was put in contact with a service center guy... let's call him Steve. Steve was rude, condescending and overall not helpful. I'm a fairly patient human being and have been in a plethora of customer service roles; I know they're not fun or easy. But good grief! Before I had even finished explaining what had happened/ what was wrong, he spilled a response I can only assume was canned from Tumminia Mazda's employee handbook, about how they don't warranty tires or this or that and that they have no responsibility toward me or any other customer in helping fix faulty tires.... Ok, great. Can you tell me who I can contact to get information and/or help? - To which, Steve laughed and said, no sorry lady. That's not my job to look up phone numbers. Google it..... So to sum up, buy your new Mazda anywhere but Tumminia Mazda. They have terrible customer service, unsympathetic help and you're better off purchasing ANYWHERE else. read more

I normally would NEVER give any dealership 5 stars considering my past with other dealerships (cough, dick edwards ford) BUT the people here are awesome. I bought my Mazda 6 in Oct 2010. Of course you have to deal with used car sales people, that's how it works. If you are smart, you don't get screwed over and that's just the case with any salesperson, especially in the car industry. I got a great deal on my car that was under 10,000 miles. They fixed my car twice now, once from a disaster of an oil change from Walmart and second for a nail in the tire. The service department is WONDERFUL. Super nice people who take the time to actually explain what work they did. They could have very easily said my tire was unfix-able and slapped a new one on for $130, but they patched it, the first patch didn't work so they took it off and re-patched the tire again and was able to salvage it. I did not feel for one minute like I was being taken advantage of because of my age or gender like a young woman usually is at an auto place. The lady at "check out' was also very friendly. I have seen the other 1 star reviews on this place, and I can tell you, I am very picky when it comes to my car and I have had horrible experiences with other places in the past and I will never take it anywhere but to this service department from now on. read more

TAKE ALL BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!! Do not go to tumminia mazda for anything, new or used. The sales people have no idea what they are doing or talking about. I bought my 2015 mazda6 here in mid March of 2015, my sales man didn't even show or teach me anything about the car, I drove an 04 before this so I'm beyond lost in my new car. They sell extended warranties that only can be used at their dealership. Once you leave with your purchase they are done and will not help you with anything else. I don't live anywhere close to them so for me to put miles on my new car driving back and forth to them for problems is not ok. The owners son Todd is all about money not making their customers happy, so you will constantly be upset with them because they never resolve problems for you if it costs them money. Worst place ever to buy a car only because of the way the people are and the way the dealership is run. Stay away from tumminia mazda people I'm so serious. read more

I was at this dealership on Thursday 9/15. I test drove a mazda 6 and thought it was great. The sales staff was wonderful. I met the manager and both he and the salesman said I should come back the next day for a longer test drive. I went there the next day to take them up on their offer for a longer test drive. I got there at 5:35. The salesman went to talk to the manager about which car I could drive. The manager didn't know i was listening. He said in a rude tone "What the hell does he think he's going to test drive when he comes in 15 minutes before we close? He didn't bother to tell me they closed at 6 the day before. Needless to say, if this is the way the manager talks and thinks about a potential customer who told him a car would be purchased within 3 days, he doesn't deserve my business. From some of the other reviews I'm reading, he treats car owners worse. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE unless you like dealing with jerk. read more
