We've now purchased two vehicles from Crown Toyota (a Sienna in 2025, and a Rav 4 in 2020), and I have to say that overall I'm pleased with the process of buying a car from this dealership. In 2020 we stopped in on our way to Manhattan with the hopes of purchasing a Rav 4 and walked out with what we were looking for. It of course took a while, but overall it was a smooth process and we didn't feel overly pressured. Now, this year, we had our older car totalled after being rear ended in the fall and after a lengthy insurance claim finally were ready to buy a new car this winter. With two kids in tow now a mini van seemed like the right fit and we settled on the Sienna. Only problem? There seems to be a Sienna shortage all over town. I called every single Toyota dealership in the KC metro, got on the waiting list for one of them, and the others either never responded to me, lied to me about their inventory to get me to purchase something I didn't want, or nearly laughed at me for even asking if they had any in stock. I was honestly pretty taken aback by how unprofessional and disinterested in my business the other dealerships were. Now, enter Crown Toyota who when I filled out an online form, a salesperson called me, and respectfully talked me through the shortage of Siennas, the wait, realistically what I was in for in terms of timeline, and was kind, courteous, and friendly throughout the whole process. Honestly, it's a small thing, but having Charlie call me and follow up with me made me feel like they wanted my business and actually cared about if I ended up with a vehicle that was excited about driving. After that phone call I stayed on the waiting list with another dealership just in case, but I was already pretty sold on working with Crown. After that he was in touch with their next shipment and what was available, we chatted about the one that was most attractive to us, reserved it over the phone, and then came in to finalize things when it arrived. I won't say it was a perfect experience, as there were a few hiccups when we went to pick it up in terms of the young man working that couldn't help us and seemed confused, and the complicated nature of having to have my husband sign electronically since he couldn't come with me, BUT it's still a five star experience because everyone that we worked with here was so nice, so supportive, and great at talking me through all the options. Charlie even followed up a week later to make sure I didn't have any questions and followed up a few more times to make sure the titled arrived, and that we were satisfied. I'm only in my thirties but maybe I'm more old school than I think when I say that I really value this level of customer service when making such a big purchase, and despite Lawrence being a bit further away I'm inclined to always reach out to Crown Toyota when I'm in the market for a new car. read more

Crown Toyota performed my 10,000 mile Toyota care on my 2025 Camry in November 2025. They told me there wasn't any issues and sent me out the door. I just completed my 15,000 mile service with another dealership that found 2 chopped tires that were so bad they were considered unsafe and had to be replaced. How does that happen in less than 5,000? I reached out to Crown asking for their alignment results from performing the 10,000 mile service. I was informed by the manager that their system didn't get a good scan on my license plate so they don't have the alignment information. They only have the scan the same machine got for the tire depth of 6/32" tread life on all tires. The alignment wasn't ever checked they only went by tire tread depth? The alignment is part of their multi point inspection they perform, that wasn't completed. Now with less than 15,000 miles on the vehicle I have had to replace 2 tires and pay for an alignment that could have been caught and corrected if the alignment check had been done. Dealers are encouraging buyers to put a deposit on a car already ordered or to spec one out for their next order, waiting a few days to a few months for their new ride to arrive. Websites show pictures of cars that are in all different stages of build (ordered, in-transit, and sale pending). Met with Tristan 3 days later at 1:00 PM. Checked over my car gave me some numbers, looked at his computer and told me a Corolla Cross was just unloaded off the transport last night. Went out looked at it and told him to give me the numbers. Two hours later we sealed the deal and drove it off the lot at 5:00 PM after detailing and signing lease papers. Very efficient. Just to start off, Jude the Sales and Leasing Consultant who spent an hour and half with, was one of the most knowledgeable, respectful and positive salespeople I've worked with. However, the 1 star review is due to incredibly poor communication on their part during negotiating price. I had already decided I was going to accept their first counter, but decided to push for the $500 service fee since the car was under 35,000 miles and single owner, so not likely to run into anything during the inspection. So Jude comes back from talking with his manager a second time, and their second offer is $1,500 higher than the original counter. I couldn't believe the audacity to return with a higher number than his original price. That's not quite how sales work, and the whole managing expectations thing lol. So if you want a dealership that will haggle you into higher prices, these managers are your guys! read more

I bought my used 2014 F-150 from here a few months ago. I payed in cash and they had no problem with that. They were flexible with the price and I got a fair deal. I was impressed as well with their thorough vehicle Inspection process and the friendliness of my sales rep. I was unimpressed with the manners of the man who seemed to be the manager on the floor. Each time that I had an interaction with him, he was cold and borderline rude with his responses. I was also told on the day that I purchased my truck that "it should only be a few minutes and we'll get right to you.". I waited on the financial department for 3.5 hours. Cannot recommend Crown highly enough. I have purchased three cars from them and will always be a customer. They treat me with respect and they do not talk down to me. The best part about Crown is the service department. There is almost no turnover in staff (what does that tell you about a business!!) and they go out of their way to be helpful. They have never tried to sell me something I don't need. They have been come rely honest with me about needed repairs. One time, they even talked me out of an expensive repair. WOW!!! I'd largely sold myself via the vehicle's online listing before going to the lot for a test drive, so I dreaded the obligatory lengthy sales pitch, painstaking negotiations, and paperwork that are the hallmarks of traditional auto sales. I had seriously considered purchasing a vehicle off the Web--sight unseen, no test drive. Enter Customer Service Rep David Wiglesworth at Crown. David met me at the door and quickly began proving that a car sales lot does not have to be listed along with the dentist's office among your least favorite places to be. Pleasant, polite, positive, and attentive, Wiglesworth was more apt to listen than pursue a pre-packaged sales agenda, so I knew I'd found the right guy. He knew Jeeps, he came to understand me and my needs fast, and he facilitated price negotiations compassionately and promptly like a pro. While I completed financing paperwork with accounting, he prepped the car and had it ready for me to drive home. Horrifying customer service, rude, unprofessional. This doesn't even deserve one star. The repair shop at the Crown Toyota has the worst customer service that I have ever experienced. I sent my car in to get a battery replacement. They called my roommate for some reason and told him they were going to do $150 of extra work. Then when I called to get a status update on my car they told me that I had to pay for it, even though I didn't authorize it. I went up too the shop with my normal mechanic to talk to them and they were the rudest people I have ever encountered. They told us we were "high" for not wanting the extra work. That insulted us and told us it was my fault that they called the wrong person. We tried to pay for the actual work I wanted. But they wouldn't let us pay for only the new battery and installation. Instead they took out the new battery, along with the other unwanted work they had done and pushed my car into the parking lot and the snow. I was absolutely shocked by their behavior. I agreed to try a part replacement for almost $1,700 under agreement that if that this was not the fix, I'd bring it back and he would make it right. The problem worsened within a week. I took it back and he/the shop had the audacity to tell me that he had fixed problem, that worsended symptom was an unrelated issue, that thus he was not standing on his word and said alternative was replacing engine with an engine that had over 115,000 miles on it for over $5,000. Picked up a fleet car. They were awful. Responsiveness was pathetic. I get they don't make much off delivering these cars but it is a service they choose to do. The rear license plate was put on with a front license plate frame. Incorrect parts and poorly done. Failed miserably. Would not repair and claimed they did not put "this together". It was a new car. When I arrived at the dealership, Pete greeted me at the door and the truck I want to look at was ready to test drive. After the test drive, we agreed to the deal, which included a generous trade in allowance. Pete then went the extra mile and followed me to my home, which was about 50 miles away, to pick up the title for my trade-in, since I hadn't brought it with me. Yesterday I went to Crown Toyota Dealership in Lawrence, Kansas, because the 2015 Toyota Highlander, that I had purchased from them in March 2020 was making whirring noises in the engine. After waiting over two hours, the Maintenance Staff informed me that I would need to replace the engine, which was well over $5,000, or I could talk to the Sales Representatives about doing a trade-in. However, after speaking to the Sales Department, they could only find similar vehicles in the price range of $22,000. The purchase price of my highlander was over $19,000. Trading into a higher priced vehicle will increase my payment, which I cannot do. I trusted Toyota to pull through with being the best and was sadly scammed into buying a broken Highlander and now the Sales Staff is trying to sell me a more expensive vehicle! My Highlander has less than 100,000 miles on it and is only five years old! It should not be having any major mechanical issues, such as engine problems. The Crown Dealership even had me sign paperwork saying that the vehicle was mechanically sound and checked by their Maintenance Staff, which included the engine. I was told by the Maintenance Staff that the issue with the engine "could not have been for-seen." I have already paid over $3,500, including a $1,000 down payment on the Highlander, and yet the best they could do was replace my engine for over $5,000 or trade me in for a more expensive vehicle? I feel that Toyota is not standing up to their name, which is to be the best long lasting vehicles around. read more
