Went in on a Saturday night to place an order for pickup, which was provided within about 15 minutes. Fast and efficient service overall. Parking can be difficult though if a ball game is happening. Overall, any of the meats are great, though I'd recommend pulled pork or ribs over the chicken tenders. Fried okra is highly recommended over other sides like the cole slaw. Eating in the restaurant location as opposed to ordering to-go can provide a cozy southern hospitality atmosphere with great ambience.

The service was fast. The food was HOT! The sandwich was huge! The atmosphere was delightful! We rang the BELL on our way out! Great experience!!!

See! I told you the even salad looked good!

Ooooo-we! This is a great stop in Montgomery. I was recently in the city for a work trip and stopped in here on night with a group of 25. That's right, 25. We knew when we walked in it was the place to be: great bbq shack-like interior, the smells were smelling, and the staff was playing Prince (I wanna be your lover). Like I said, I knew it was going to be a great meal. They were ready for our group, and assigned us THE server, not A server, named Pumpkin. This lady kept our table in check. She managed to get all of our drinks and food out with zero mistakes. She was knowledgeable about the menu, and didn't flinch if you decided to change anything after the fact. The food came out promptly, everything was hot, and even the salad looked good. I mean, I wouldn't waste time touching a salad in a proper bbq joint, but if you were so inclined to such foolishness, you'd get a nice one here. The winner for me was the fried okra and the sweet tea. The wings looked phenomenal, and I didn't see a single bone with meat on it when our table was done. I was too full for dessert, but folks raved about the chocolate dessert (some said the banana pudding was mid, unfortunately). As you leave you can ring the bell for good service, and almost half of our table rang that bell! Only a little was because of the novelty of it, but easily 98% of the bell-ringing was because of Pumpkin's great service and the kindness of everyone in the place. By the time we left the place was filling with locals, and it was great to be a part of that vibe. Absolutely out this spot on your list and make sure you get a basket or fried okra (with a side of ranch dressing). You won't be disappointed.

Wouldn't ever eat this again. Ribs n chkn

Ugh. Southern BBQ continues to dissappoint. Arrived shortly after opening July 17, 2025. Sat at the bar. Place smelled good. Ambiance/cleanliness-funky,garage-y bbq joint. Clean enough. Wood floors and bar. 3 stars. Service- bartender lady was a hoot and getting a colonoscopy the next day. She cared about her service and gave me a sample of banana pudding...which was tasty. 4 stars. Food-some of the worst bbq i have ever had. I got ribs and chicken...mac n chz and slaw. Food came out FAST. Ribs was like leftovers from yesterday. Steamed and mushy. Sauce was ok, pretty thin. Chicken was flabby and small. Mac n cheese was aight. Slaw was forgettable. Damn. 2 stars.

I wanted to go here because I saw they had their own Wikipedia article and while Dreamland BBQ isn't from Montgomery specifically, it is from Alabama. I was happy to have this cute spot be my first meal on my trip to Montgomery. I tried the ribs with a side of cole slaw and fried okra and would say I found the fried okra to be a standout (so delicious, a good reminder to me I want more okra in my life).

Had a nice lunch here. Good food. Good service. The waitstaff were wonderful. Shout out to Brigitte. We both had combo plates. The pulled pork, ribs, sausage, coleslaw, and okra. Everything was fresh. The bbq sauce is very tangy. The tea was good. They have multiple sizes of dessert. So I was able to take both puddings- banana and chocolate to try them out. Those were ok.

Goodness, gracious at this point dreamland barbecue is just showing off ! Talk about the fastest service I've ever had in a barbecue spot . This place strikes the perfect balance between quality food at a reasonable price with customer service that simply goes above and beyond. When I tell you that we were graded and treated like family it is a literal statement . It was the group's first time there, but we were welcomed and seated as if we were regulars. The place feels authentic and not like a random restaurant from super troopers with random things just thrown up on the wall either I would highly advise going with center cut ribs, which for a small price affords you more delicious fall off the bone rib meat. Their barbecue sauce was also so good that I opted for you to go container to enjoy what was left of the meal afterward. I opted for half a rack of ribs and came back later that week to take on the full rack; suffice at the end of that battle the Victor where the taste buds in the wallet. This feels like a great place to go during family time or if you have the authorization to go eat delicious food

My BBQ PHD Research Project resumed today in Montgomery, and it was a real treat. My waitress Bridgett was a hoot and took great care of me! I had the 3 meat plate with ribs, pork and sausage - all were great. And the BBQ sauce was top notch. Fried okra was crunch and amazing; baked beans were decent but nothing special. Also had their Honey Porter and it was fantastic. All of that for under $25? Not only delicious but a great value- not typical in a BBQ joint.

Came in with a group of 7 people while in town for the Selma Bridge Crossing anniversary. This was a short walk from our hotel so we were excited to be able to give a local Black owned restaurant our business while in town for the weekend. It's a typical casual bbq restaurant with a good beer list and a few wine options. It was right before close but we got great service and the waitress was flexible with us as a few of us changed our mind after ordering and she was able to stop our order before the kitchen begin to prepare it. With it being close to closing some of the meet wasn't as flavorful and tender, I assume because it had been slow cooked all day and was the left overs. People in the group loved the ribs. The portion sizes were great and a few had left overs. The okra appetizer was also a hit for the okra eaters in our group. Would definitely love to come back earlier in the day when the food is more fresh.

    Not even edible.

My wife and i are down in Bama for the week, so a lot of non home cooked meals is the name of the game! So far, this was the worst 'meal' we've had. Thank goodness it was cheap. The half rack had more cartilage and bones than edible meat. The cobb was pre-made and stored in the fridge. If i hadn't asked for extra bread I'd still be starving! The BBQ sauce definitely does not leave you wanting more. SKIP IT!

    Pulled pork

They sent the wrong order. I ordered 2 rib tip dinners. They sent 2 pulled pork dinners. My receipt clearly states rib tips. They took no accountability, & did nothing to try & rectify their mistake. They stated i I could bring the dinners back. If I wanted to go out I would not have had the meals delivered. No customer service at all.

Yelp! After a hectic day, Bae decided he needed some Dreamland. Well the Biscuits are playing and there is zero parking for dining in. So of course, I run in to pick it up. Decor is amazing and everybody is friendly pointing me to the bar for carryout. We get back to the hotel and everything looks good, but y'all forgot my banana pudding. . Then, you gave me baked beans, I don't get baked beans here. It's good I got this sausage sandwich, it made up for all your little mishaps to me. Bae, not so much. He got rib tips. They were tough and undercooked with minimal sauce. He threw them away. Y'all already know, wait until you get back to what you know on the familiar restaurants. Always try something new when you are out of town.

Potato salad was THE BEST!! Sooo creamy

Good place to visit before seeing a ball game. Really tender boneless rib tips. We had ours in a wrap with jalapeño slaw.

By the time you get up there to pay and get your drink cup, the food is already coming up. I ordered the pull pork plate with 2 sides and a drink for $11! Can't beat that price. The fries came out hot, the pork was juicy, and the greens flavorful. Doesn't come with sauce on it but there's plenty of options on the dressing table to pick from. The only downside is the parking situation... it's insanity, with folks here in work trucks, cars, motorcycles, you name it. The line just to get in the door can be long, but the staff does a great job of getting people in & out within the time of their lunch break. Pack your patience & give them a try!

I know people throw out places like Texas, the Carolinas and Tennessee as barbecue meccas, but I stand by my claim that some of the best barbecue comes from the great state of Alabama and Fatman's is great proof of my claim. I walked in and there was a line, but it moved fast and the helpless taking our our orders were friendly. The inside is pretty much low on ambiance, but the food is the real star here. Since it was packed inside, I got my food to-go and ate at a nearby park. I had the pulled pork plate with camp stew and potato salad. Everything was absolutely wonderful. I would definitely recommend here and I give it five stars.

Now, I don't know what has happened since then, but something did. To begin with, the place always looked "used". It had been there a long time and that's expected but this time the chairs looked badly worn and the carpet was in need of help. But it looked clean over all. The workers were friendly but very busy. They had a teenage boy who seated us who was in need of some grooming. But he was polite, so we let it slide. The waitress was very casual and nice as well. But it looked like this one poor lady was handling the entire side of the place by herself. I can overlook all of the above if the food is good but... To begin with, I ordered the same meal I ate in 2021 and yes, I remembered it! As a turkey lover, I recalled it as a Thanksgiving kind of meal that I enjoyed which was why I ordered it again. It was billed on the menu as: Sliced turkey, stuffing, three sides and cranberry sauce. I could eat Thanksgiving 365! And that first time was like reliving Thanksgiving at Moms. Not this time. Aside from being out of broccoli (which limited the green sides down to green beans and/or collard greens- which I do not like) there was an issue with things not being as presented in the menu. The "stuffing" or "dressing" was a small heap of mushy something. It was thin, watery and bland. Horrible! The "sliced turkey" was fractured white meat of turkey, fractured so much that it seemed to meld into the mushy dressing. The two were undiscernable. And it, too, was bland. There was something they called turkey gravy but it was definitely a canned or otherwise prepackaged gravy: bright yellow in color and gloppy in texture. The mashed potatoes were fine, a little salty but fine, though I am not sure if they were homemade or from mix or what. The "green beans" were not what I had before. Before I had what, at worst, had been frozen green beans, though well-seasoned and cooked through. This time I was given Italian beans from a can that had no flavor to them. And then there was the mac n cheese. The test of a good Mom and Pop place is the M&C and this batch failed. Over cooked elbow macaroni in a non-saucy glob of light orange gunk that tasted like flour and not cheesy at all. If that sounds bad, worse was the pie. They used to serve cake and some damn good cake, too! But we were told today they serve pies. I ordered the lemon meringue. I make lemon meringue pie so I know fully well what one should taste and look like and this was NOT it! The fill looked like leftover banana pudding with the bananas extracted. It wasn't set and the meringue slid off of it. The meringue itself had a wateriness that I couldn't quite figure out but it was lightly toasted on top. The corn muffins were good, though they could have gone without being dunked in butter. Over all, I cannot give this place the report I would have liked to have given a landmark in Montgomery. Its sad, too.
