I literally wrote her at like 8AM for a VERY LAST MINUTE SAME DAY appointment and she responded, was professional and OVERSTOOD the assignment! I liked that I was able to text her my inspiration of what I wanted and she told me exactly what to book, so there were no surprises in pricing. I also really liked that I was able to pay for my appointment in full on the site. When I walked in I felt comfortable and the place was clean! Her playlist was lit too, I was trying to stay still but it was so good I wanted to keep singing. At the last minute I asked her if she had space for my mom to get her makeup done and she took my mom right on the spot with no last minute fees. I got dressed in the shop and took my hair down while there and Bella even helped me. I was running late so I was rushing getting dressed and my zipper on my pants popped and she literally came to the rescue, trying to help fit it and perfect my outfit. I was so antsy, she was like maybe wear a longer shirt, thankfully I had a few shirts with me and I had one, but it wasn't the look I was going for. I forgot to mention that Bella's shop not only is a place where you can get your make up done, but you can even get an outfit and accessories for affordable prices. So back to my outfit, Bella pulls out a waist belt and SAVES the day! Bella took pics and videos of me and really took her time with me, not one minute felt rushed. At the end of the appointment she gave us both a small bag with a beauty blender and a nice lipgloss also. Here we are a week later and I'm so happy to say my face did not break out. Most times when I get my make up done my skin breaks out (I guess since I barely do it), but with Bella it did not. I noticed all her brushes were clean when she beat my face and she also used quality foundation and other products. She was also a good person to take to, I loved her motivation and determination. The so-called professional, Pam, waxed and burned my armpit, leaving me in a terrible situation. I usually go to my trusted lady in NYC, but being in the Newark area visiting my siblings, I thought I'd give this Brazilian salon a try since I was desperate for a quick treatment. Little did I know, it would turn into a nightmare. From the beginning, I should have realized something was wrong when Pam didn't bother cleaning the area before applying the wax directly to my skin. It felt strange and too hot, but I didn't say anything, assuming she knew what she was doing. I paid, left, and thought that was it. The next day, my armpit started burning intensely, and I couldn't even put my arm down. It turned extremely red and painful. I thought it might be an allergic reaction, so I applied allergy cream and hoped it would get better. Instead, it got worse with each passing day. When I finally managed to get in touch with them and informed them about my horrible experience, they were apologetic and suggested I traveled to Newark and pick up from them another cream. However, being in NYC while they were in NJ made it challenging for me to visit them again. I sent them pictures of my injured armpit, and they assured me it wouldn't scar and offered to reimburse me if I chose to buy the cream myself around the area to use it. Despite applying the cream they suggested, there was no real improvement. I decided to seek help from someone I trusted, and they confirmed that my underarm was indeed burned due to the salon's lack of experience and complete disregard for proper procedures. Frustrated, I reached out to the salon, requesting at least a reimbursement for the waxing service, but they ignored my request. I persisted in contacting them, but they left me on read. Finally, the receptionist (not the owner) called to apologize and offer me my money back. This establishment's behavior is deplorable, showing a clear lack of respect for their customers. They view people as mere sources of income, not as individuals with feelings and concerns. I strongly advise staying away from this place. Even now, two weeks later, I am still dealing with the painful consequences of my burned underarm. It hurts, prevents me from working out due to sweating, and I can't wear sleeveless tops because it looks terrible. This has significantly impacted my enjoyment of the summer and the sun. Take this as a warning - avoid this salon at all costs. They are not worthy of your trust or your patronage.

Cherry Le did my makeup for a television premiere last week. She responded with her quote and the relevant details, and after mulling over whether or not to spend the money, I secured the appointment with a deposit the night before. She only had a 1:00 slot available, but she was able to come to me, meeting me in my hotel room. She arrived right on time with an arsenal of beauty supplies. I liked her immediately. She was so friendly and energetic, and said flattering things about my skin, obviously music to my 39-year-old ears. I had a great time hanging out with her. She asked what I was looking for and I said I was walking a red carpet and just wanted to look good. She took me through her overall plan and started with my eye makeup, layering on colors and checking in to see if I was okay with the level of drama. I didn't know enough to weigh in and let her do her thing, and less than an hour later, I was fully dolled up. She even put fake eyelashes on top of my already fake eyelashes. To be honest, I was a little worried at first. I looked very dramatic for two in the afternoon, and I wondered if I'd let her go overboard. Once I was dressed and at the premiere, though, I felt fairly confident and comfortable and got lots of compliments. I walked the carpet, the second time I've done that in my life, and stood and posed awkwardly for a million photos. I've seen the pictures from both events and am really glad I got my makeup done this time around. The bolder makeup just worked better with those bright lights. I'm not professionally pretty (I'm a writer, which is, if anything, an ugly person's job) so it was fun to get my face painted and hang out with the attractive people who go to television premieres.
