I am proud to say that I was able to stay at Dreier's Nursing Home.This place is filled with a Great group of kind and loving people that work here.The Nurses are amazing and always stay on top of taking care of the residents as well as the guests when Necessary.The nutrition department is very accommodating as well.The facility is very beautiful which includes a very peaceful and private patio for the the residents to relax and enjoy during visits.Most importantly the social services staff here is also very caring and responsive to all the residents needs.Dreiers is Definitely a Great place to consider if you are looking for a nursing home for a loved one or simply just looking for a place to rehabilitate physically.All of the Phyisical Therapist on site are patient and well trained.I personally approve of this place and would recommended it to anyone that is considering it. Unfriendly, unhelpful staff. Delivered one of their residents there and no one moved from behind the counter. I had already announced the resident's name and one of the staff asked if I had any paperwork, which I did not. Finally, one staff came out from the counter and took the resident and his wheelchair. I too would give it zeros stars if I could! Please do NOT send elderly and vulnerable loved ones to Dreier's "Skilled Nursing" Facility! In summary: 1. They administered an addicting opioid without consent and at a concentration where the patient became loopy, unaware of their location and surroundings - meeting a level that could be considered chemical restraint. 2. Holding a patient incommunicado with respect to their family and friends is criminal. Dreier's is not supposed to be a prison. If there is a technical issue like insufficient phone lines, it is their responsibility to fix it. They should not 'neglect to charge the patient's personal cell' to keep them from communicating with family. 3. At a fee rate of $450/day, roughly $13,500/month (just for room/board) - the lack of even some form of humane care is mind boggling. There is no excuse for insufficient resources. This seems to be a problem of attitude. 4. As a result of the care at Dreier's and the worsened health, it is likely that our Mom will no longer be able to have the TAVR, with the corresponding worsened health, quality of life and longevity. This type of care can be considered Elder Abuse. History: About a year ago, our mother had a minor heart attack and subsequently fell; she was 88 years old. She was sent to the hospital for two weeks to recover and stabilize. Until that time, our mother had been living independently and was able to walk with the assistance of a walker. The hospital indicated that she had Aortic Stenosis with two cardiac arteries being partially blocked and needing a stent. The stents were done, but the hospital determined that she needed more rehab before having a TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement). The hospital recommended that she be sent to a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) for physical therapy, since a SNF should have a physical therapist on site. Dreier's was one of two SNFs in the area that was accepting new patients during the pandemic. Our mom was at Dreier's for over a month, during which time she was supposed to be receiving physical therapy; however, due to Covid-19 restrictions, we could not visit her. Therefore, we would take turns calling her, once per day, to check in on how she was doing. As the days went by, reaching her by phone became increasingly difficult. Her cell phone was never charged. Dreier's said that they only had one portable phone, so we would have to wait for it to be available, which became increasingly more seldom. Whenever we were finally able to get through to our mom, it would be in the evening and she would be very confused, at times even suffering severe hallucinations, and slurred speech. In the meantime, my younger sister and I investigated Assisted Living Facilities for our mom, where she would be placed after the "physical therapy" and TAVR were complete. We had arranged for a physical assessment of her so that the assisted living facility could determine her level of care. It was then that we found out that the stage 2 bed sores she had when she entered Dreier's, had become stage 4 bed sores (wounds deep enough to affect muscles, tendons, bones) as well as new open sores on her heels. The stage 4 bed sores disqualified her from Assisted Living as well as the TAVR. My younger sister went to Dreier's in order to get our mother discharged and sent to the hospital. She was given the run-around for over 3 hours outside the facility until she threatened to call the police in order to have our mother moved back to the hospital. She also demanded to be given our mother's medical records, which she was entitled to receive as the POA for our mother. The head nurse gave my sister a bunch of crap when she asked for the records, finally relenting and saying "Your mother will just end up back here anyway!" Only when we got the medical records did we see that they had put her on about 12 prescriptions including Norco, whereas when she was discharged from the hospital, she was only on three. The hospital that our mother was discharged to after her stay at Dreier's, was so concerned by her condition and treatment while at Dreier's, that they filed a report with the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman investigated and found that there was due cause to report Dreier's to the state. Norco is considered a controlled substance requiring consent by the patient's representative before being administered to a patient. Norco is a very powerful and addictive drug that includes an opioid and can make patients loopy or seem mentally out of it. No one deserves to be treated in the manner in which our mother was treated at Dreier's. Our mother is now in Assisted Living, where she has been for several months. Her stage 4 wounds have healed completely. She is now coherent, comfortable and happy, her mental state is sharp even with beginning dementia. Happy Mother's Day, Mom! I was hoping to come back here and see this place permanently closed but I guess not , my grandma who was placed here for rehab due to a fractured hip last year .while she was there she only got worst over the months !she has now passed away right after my review last year ! If I could give zero stars I would. This place is horrible, unfortunately a lot of people get stuck there because they have no choice due to being ok Medi-Cal. I would avoid this place at all costs. I had lots of problems regarding the way they handled things with doctor appts and communication. When I brought it to the administration, I got attitude. Minus that the place smells HORRIBLE. MY VACATION 2 HELL. I went 2 this place, & i thought that i died & went 2 hell! The lobby was nice & cool, but when i got 2 the room it was hot & the windows would not open. I have been homeless&I have been2 prison. This was the 1st time that i perceived a place 2 be hell. I TOLD THEM I WANTED 2LEAVE repeatedly. & THEY CALLED THE COPs instead of transportation.I AM NOT SAYING THAT THEY TRIED2 USE THE POLICE 2 INTIMIDATE ME B/C I AMAFRICAN AMERICAN, but why would they call the police when i asked for a DR.? I WAS FRIGHTENED w/ tachychardia & w/ a fever. I had2 have blood transfusion. I WAS GOING THRU KIDNEY FAILURE & had no way of contacting my family. I thought that i was about2 die. I said paramedic, priest or POLICE. THEY CHOSE GLENDALE PD. I BEGGED THE COP2 TAKE ME. I TRIED2 DRAG MYSELF OUT. & I was almost 2 the exit. & they brought me back. Worst nursing facility I have ever worked with , please do NOT take your family members here and by all means do NOT forget them here , I have never been so disrespected in my life , I am my nanas poa , only kin and she left everything she had to me and when she passed away I was lied to and almost not given her items when by law they had to give it to me but they were just to lazy , my nana literally passed away at this god forsaken place that I tried effortlessly to get her out of but it's hard when it's just me a 24 yr old and no other resources to get her out and my complex is not handicapped accessible so I put my trust into a facility that treated my nana like she was garbage , she would call me crying because your nurses would NEVER check on her and she would be THIRSTY , so I had to middle man and call the facility , when she passed away I was informed by the workers that I can come down and all her stuff would be packed up by the front door for me to take home (mind you I live in Colorado it was a 16 hour drive, my nana never wanted to leave California she loved the state to much and I was moved when I was a teenager, tried my best to care for her from a distance) i show up after a long drive and the saddest news I could get, I informed them for a week straight that I would be arriving on a certain day and they kept telling me that's great it will be ready for you , I showed up to grab her things and I was told no , I was told her stuff wasn't at the facility which makes no sense , it's obvious your workers are lazy and take things personal and don't want to actually do their jobs , I was upset and confused and felt lied to so I asked questions as to why I couldn't grab her stuff , the nurse looked me dead in the face and said "don't give me attitude " how can a health care "professional " EVER TREAT a grieving person that way , I've never been so disgusted in my life , over the next few days I was persistent on getting her things and on the 4th day behind down there they finally gave it to me but I knew it was because they just merely didn't want to pack it up , there's no reason to lie the amount I was lied to , they didn't care about her and they didn't care about me and to be quite frank , it doesn't seem like anyone in that facility cares about anything not even the facility , it really is a prison , she's stayed in numerous homes before throughout the years and I never had issues , she was always having a good time and cracking jokes , she would call me 20 times a day because she was so scared , I hope this place gets shut down , and every worker lose their jobs. You do NOT deserve to be taking care of precious lives, I'm surprised you guys haven't been sued yet and shut down , disgusting behavior, there was maybe a couple people on that team that I met that were somewhat decent , the rest of you are trash and you know it :) literally made my nanas last few months a living hell and I will NEVER forgive you people read more

Please stay away from this place. The lack of care and the lack of attention given to patients is so terrible. My dad stayed here for less than a week and I feel like that was the worst place ever. Their RN LINDA is terrible. She has no professionalism, she is rude, she is uncaring, she is a racist and she seems to hate her job. She has the nerve to go off on me all because I asked her what was being done for my father who was mentally altered for 3 hours, and no one seemed to care and no one saw that he was just a zombie standing there for 3 hours doing nothing, eyes rolling back, and shaking. Her response was "what do you want me to do" after I tell her he is usually not like this. He is altered. She says "take a look around" meaning a lot of the patients are mentally altered. Ok I see that, but dad only gets like this when his ammonia goes up, ok "so you expect me to notice a fly on the wall?" Thanks, so not only is my dad a fly on the wall to you, one which you don't care about but also the fact that he doesn't speak English gives you the right to deny him service and help. "Does he speak English?" No. "There you go. How am I suppose to know if something is wrong if he can't tell me". You are a fucking "nurse" it is your job to monitor and take care of the patients. She then has the nerve to go down the hall and very very loudly yelling and telling another nurse or assistant "This is America. I do not speak Spanish or Armenian. English is the language. Learn to speak English. I don't have time for this." Then I can hear her yelling and screaming at some other patients down the hall. 1. If you can't handle patient care in a nursing facility, why the fuck are you working there. I realize it is not easy, but you chose the job and the place, don't like it quit. Go work somewhere else. 2. Don't be racist and deny service and care just because someone does not speak English. I work in the medical field. I have many patients who do not speak English, I do not throw tantrums and bitch about the fact they don't speak English. I still provide excellent care and I put some effort in learning some dialogue so I can communicate a little with them. You work in Glendale, you have many Armenian speaking patients, so I am guessing all of those who don't speak the English language get the same horrible care that you provided to my dad. No one here seems like they care about the patients. Patients never get any attention. Only get food put in front of them. Pills shoved down their throat. No one cares to do anything else. Maybe take them for a little walk. Maybe talk to them for 5 minutes. Some compassion and some care goes a long way. And when your head nurse is talking to another patient and says things like "yea Armenians are either nice or complete assholes" while I am standing 5 feet away, shows me that you are a special type of bitch. You do not deserve to be a Nurse. You do not deserve to be in charge of any patients care or service. You should go and find a job where you only deal with English speaking patients so that way you don't get bothered and start talking shit about your patients. Also, my dad had a tracker on which would sound the alarm if the front door was opened and he would sit by the front window and just look outside, since no one would take him for a walk or anything unless we did ourselves. Same day she made the remark about Armenians being assholes is the same day she tell another nurse "does he have to sit right there by the door" since anyone coming in and out would sound the alarm since he was sitting close to the door. 1. Again if you had some common sense and some patient care and service, you would maybe come talk to him and tell him to maybe stand further back and maybe instead of sitting on your ass talking shit you can actually do your fucking job. Once again. Terrible place. Horrible care. Patients being pushed down on beds, and wheelchairs, yelling and screaming, and lack of care for anyone who is not white, or English speaking. I have to say there were two assistants that were great, I don't know their names, one Armenian girl (only one there) and one Hispanic male, very nice guy always smiling always very kind and respectful to patients and family. I visited Drier's as a possible skilled nursing residence for my mother upon discharge from the hospital. This place is run like a gulag. I was told my recently widowed mother would not be allowed visitors without making an appointment 24 hours in advance AND could not have anyone visit more than three times a week. My mother deserves daily visits from her family, especially as we are all still grieving together. They claim this is required because the facility is small and limiting visits allows visitors for all residents. The afternoon I was there I saw several residents but no visitors inside. One person was kept outside and the staff wheeled his wife out to him but he wasn't allowed to enter. They only let me in because I said I would not consider sending my mother anyplace I hadn't seen. I wasn't allowed to see much beyond a hallway and the bed they had for my mother. I saw several inmates sitting alone in hallways or in bed. There is no reason to impose such extreme visitation policies unless there's either something to hide or the staff can't be bothered and prioritizes their convenience over residents' family connections. All in all, the absolute control and arbitrary limits on visits felt sinister, a means to control access to residents that makes me suspicious about the nature of care. read more

I wish I read their reviews before we admitted my dad to their facility. We discharged him after couple of hours, couldn't stand their poor service and felt bad for my dad. The 3 weeks my son was there were a nightmare. The staff was very cruel and uncaring. My son is parralyzed and unable to turn over in bed. The staff had to help him roll over. Some of the staff would jerk him over and walk away without seeing to his comfort. He lost 15lbs while there. Not impressed with the professionalism of the staff. The stay there made rehabilitation more difficult. read more

My sweet grandmother was a patient her for a few months and it haunts my family to this day that she had to spend one night in this hell hole. If you have a loved one I don't recommend you leave them here. My grandmother was a patient here in 2013. She was transfered there from a local hospital. She was unable to walk and spent all her time in bed. We found her bedding dirty multiple times. We also began to notice bruises and contusions on her arms, head etc. When we inquired as to what caused the markings, they claimed she feel out of the bed. Her bed had rails. Our attorney sent to the owner of Drier's expressing our concerns regarding the lack of their care, cleanliness and neglectful staff. We also filled a complaint with the health department. One week after we filled a complaint, I visited her late at night. When I arrived, I could smell a horrific stench coming from her room. The staff placed two 55 gallon trash bins filled with urine covered bedding in the middle of her room for the night. I could barely breath. When I confronted the nurse she said the maintaince staff was gone for the night so I had to drag the bins out of her room. Within days we were able to transfer her to another home. read more

I was a patient here for recuperation and rehab. I give the facility four stars for my relatively short stay as I transitioned from hospital to home after surgery. I did leave voluntarily despite some recommendation that I stay a little longer, but I couldn't take being confined in a small room with a roommate who watched bad television 24/7, the bad food and the lack of peace and privacy attendant to any such institution. It was not pleasant, however the two most important characteristics of a nursing home for a temporary rehabilitation related stay were exceptional. The patient/ resident nursing floor staff were almost to a person, just terrific, and the physical and occupational therapy staff was also excellent. I had some prior experience dealing with skilled nursing facilities with relatives, and comparatively, the staff at Dreiers are just fantastic, efficient, caring people. It may help that this is an independently owned place and the owner is on site every day all day. Whatever it is, out of the dozens of staff on the floor providing patient care only one seemed uncaring and I only had to deal with him once briefly on graveyard shift. I doubt he will last long there as everyone else seemed to have a good attitude. That is pretty amazing in a place like this I think considering the type of work and what I assume is the relatively low pay. The administrative staff was somewhat less impressive in some aspects, but I was an unusual case for them given I was there on private insurance as opposed to Medicare/medi-Cal. So they were not as familiar with the protocol for approving things like medical transportation, or post-discharge services and medical equipment. Most of my complaints or requests were addressed by the owner or other administrators. read more

My Grandfather was recently a patient of this facility and I must say I have never been more impressed with the quality of care provided by this nursing home. The administrator John was a very polite and professional gentleman who greeted us the moment we walked in and answered any and all questions that I had regarding my Grandfather's stay. The staff at Dreier's was very attentive and provided the best care at all times. I would recommend this facility to anyone who is in search of a quality nursing home. It was nice to know that during the times I was away from my Grandfather, he was in good hands. read more

This place by far is the worst. My dad was sent here after being in the hospital I trusted the decision of the hospital to choose this nursing home and I can say i regret it now . This place is dirty as soon as you walk in the odor hits you ! I would see one of the employees spraying a perfume at least every other hr, I was the one feeding my dad & changing him when he needed to be changed. They are short staffed and its so sad because this means a lot of patients are left without proper care, I spoke with the manager who was very helpful and seemed like he cared but that wasn't enough . I would hear patients screaming asking for food etc. My dad was in a room with another pt who had had a stroke he couldn't really speak but he would point at things he waited 2 hours to be fed ...my dad fell back into icu about 5 days into being here. I can truly say if it wasn't for my aunt who happened to come in & notice my dad was running a fever he would've died. I would not recommend this place unless they can get it together and hire enough people who actually like there job because i can count with 1 hand how many are actually happy to be working here. read more

My grandfather was at a horrible facility by name of University Park Healthcare Center for two days. We were recommended to visit Dreier's facility. We were told many wonderful things about this place. Trust me they weren't lying. The moment we walked into Dreier's we fell in love with it. It was the total opposite from the facility my grandfather was in. The staff was so friendly and welcoming. We got a tour and we knew we wanted my grandfather at this place. The administrator John Haedrich introduced himself to us while we waited to get all the paper work done for the transfer. We were told we would have to pay for the ambulance since my grandfather's insurance couldn't cover it at this point, while we waited for the price Iris (Manager) came to tell us not to worry about the cost Mr Haedrich was going to take care of it. We are truly grateful and will always be for what he did. When I say the staff was very helpful trust me they truly were. My family is at peace now knowing my grandpa is in way better care now. read more
