As just an example of how wonderful the people are at this office let me tell you.... I dropped in to ask about replacing a broken night guard... and was told that I needed to have my moth scanned for its fit. Within 30 seconds , Dr Drew was beside me and said" my assistant will be back soon and she can do that for you. " I was pressed for time so declined. Then he said "let's go! I can do it now for you"... and he did. Everyone in this office is like this! They're happy , cheerful , smart , efficient and just want to helpful! I LOVE them to pieces ... I had the most thorough dental exam I've ever had and I wasn't pressured to purchase more services. Instead I was given a report on the health of my teeth and gums, a plan to address it, an indication on which items were not urgent, and a list of home care recommendations to support my dental health. Dr. Drew explained his findings in an easy to understand way and thoughtfully answered my questions. I had a back issue that required that I be ushered directly into an exam chair and they accommodated my transfer from car directly to exam chair. The dental hygienist Selene explained in detail what she was doing and was very sensitive to my needs and comfort. Although the office doesn't take insurance they offered to submit the dental claim for me. read more

Had 4-month cleaning yesterday. I miss Ginee as the best, gentle and thorough hygienist. There were many before her. (Drew Dental keeps losing the good ones.) The one I had was in my mouth with combat boots on--knocked the heavy piece of the polisher against my bottom teeth twice. I had to caution her about the "invisible" fillings on my front teeth. Very uncomfortable experience. I've been assigned a different one in 4 months. Hope that's better. If not, I'll be shopping around. Front of the office people are always pros. read more

I went to Dr. Drew because of the great Yelp reviews. My former dentist told me I needed two cavities filled so I went to him to fill them. He is a very nice man. Dr. Drew checked my insurance and established that I had enough money on my insurance to have more teeth filled. He recommended filling 6 more teeth between this year and next. Dr. Drew filled my initial two cavities, but because he overfilled them, my bite changed. Other teeth started to hurt because my bite was off. After a few days, I went back to him to adjust it. He ground down some of my teeth but he wasn't able to fix the bite issue. I've been to at least 10 dentists in my life but never run into a problem before - I didn't even know it was possible. Four of my other teeth started to hurt because my bite was off now. Two weeks after Dr. Drew filled my cavities I went to my former dentist to ask her to fix my bite. She couldn't fix the bite. She also said I didn't need 6 more teeth filled (or any teeth filled) and that some dentists are more conservative than others. Three weeks after Dr. Drew filled my cavities, I asked my friends for the best dentist they knew so I could get my bite fixed. Several of my teeth were throbbing now so it was critical to fix the bite problem created when Dr. Drew filled my teeth. I finally found a dentist in San Jose who was able to adjust my bite. It took another month or two for the throbbing to subside completely. After 3-4 months of pain my bite is all better now and none of my teeth ache. I would steer clear of Dr. Drew. Not only did he throw off my bite by filling cavities, but the result was four months of pain and he wasn't able to fix it. read more

12/3/19 update: Dr. Allison Drew was kind enough to call and express concern regarding my experience and underscored how they always take customer concerns very seriously. She said they would learn from this experience and relay it to their staff in hopes of avoiding projecting any potential negative perceptions to the customer in the future. She invited me to come back, too. I appreciated that, so I upgraded their review rating from 1 to 3 stars. As I said all along, the dentist performed his task well, so I don't want to penalize the doctor for a poor phone experience with a staff member. ___ Original review: I saw Dr. Drew to repair a filling. To be fair, I found him to be an acceptable dentist and he performed his task well. My issue is with the receptionist. In my 3 experiences of speaking with her on the phone, I found her to be surprisingly off-putting. I told her I was new to the area and was interested in seeing Dr. Drew, but she made it very difficult to arrange the appointment. She suggested that I call my former dentist and arrange to have them send my dental records to her. Not very professional suggesting the customer do that job for her. She kept bringing up the "need" to set up an appointment for a full set of dental x-rays before I see the dentist, even after I told her I had already completed that task for this year with my former dentist. Who would want to expose themselves unnecessarily to x-rays again in one year? In another phone conversation, I told her I wanted to set up a tooth cleaning before the end of the year. AGAIN she started with the "need" to complete a full set of dental x-rays! Obviously, she did not proactively contact my former dental office to secure all those x-ray photos. She went back and forth on this, and then ultimately told me she couldn't get me in until the middle of January of next year. I told her "you should have started with that when I asked about the appointment!". Life is too short to deal with inhospitable receptionists. A receptionist is a new customer's first impression of the dentist and dental office as a whole, even over the phone. I'll just take my dental needs for my family of four elsewhere. read more

I have been going to Drew Dental for several years now. Previously, I had poor experience locally. Since then, they started with deep cleaning to get maintenance, back in order. I drive from San Jose to Aptos. It is well worth the extra drive IMO, for the piece of mind and service you receive. My husband and I recently started going to Dr. Drew and only wish we found him sooner! I was putting off getting a crown done, and decided to meet Dr. Drew to have a consultation. I was so impressed by Dr. Drew, that we immediately made the decision to switch dentists. He explained more than any other dentist ever had, walked me through all my options, and was really conservative in his approach (i.e., his goal is to preserve your teeth and not suggest/do more work than you need). For example, he recommended an onlay instead of a crown to preserve more of my tooth. I found his honesty and genuine demeanor to be so refreshing! I was also really impressed by the staff. From the moment I called to set-up our first appointment, I felt like I was in good hands. On a few different occasions now, I've spoken with Bobbi, Carol and Emma, and they are truly delightful. They were patient and thorough in answering all my questions, and were so accommodating when trying to find days/times (which is a challenge with an infant at time!). Bobbi also made a separate call to make sure I understand what I was being quoted and to explain my insurance benefits and what my portion was going to be. I went in yesterday to have the work done and it was the most relaxing dentist visit I have ever had! Dr. Drew and his assistant, Rona, were incredibly pleasant... and even funny! Dr. Drew talked me through everything he was doing, and was extremely thorough. After filling two small cavities and prepping for an onlay, he took time to make sure my bite was perfect and he polished the teeth flawlessly. (In the past, I always could feel grooves or rough patches on teeth that had been worked on.) He also took high-quality photographs of my teeth before and after so I could see the work that was done. I have never had a dentist offer that before! It's evident that he enjoys what he does and his work shows just how good he is at it. Typically when you get an onlay, it takes two weeks for an external lab to make it, but after learning I was going out of town, Dr. Drew made a call and was able to get them to make the onlay in a week so I wouldn't be out of town with a temporary filling. Fantastic! We're so happy to have found a dentist who we can trust and actually enjoy going to. I rarely write reviews and felt compelled to recommend him. Thank you, Dr. Drew and staff! read more

Today was my first visit with Dr.Drew and I can honestly say I am more impressed with his office than I have been with any doctors office I have been to before! The staff at the front desk are all extremely friendly. My oral hygienist was Pam. Pam was so friendly and very gentle on my mouth (I haven't been to a dentist in 6 years - so it was very dirty in there!) She was very thorough, and explained everything she was doing to me. My teeth feel much better! I have to go back next week for deep cleaning, and later on I will be filling in some cavities. Dr. Drew was honest and easy to talk to. I can tell they really care about their patients here. 6 - 11 - 12 I need to amend my 5 star rating down to a 4. Dr. Drew and Pam are amazing dentists. I still highly recommend going to this office. However, the billing here is haphazard. I was quoted one amount, but the billing administrator never looked at MY actual insurance plan. She "based it off other people" who use my insurance. I paid the full amount the day of the procedure - then was surprised with a bill for 700 more - without an explanation. That is NOT an acceptable difference in quotes. I would tell anyone going to this office to be aware they run their billing on the fly. read more

I created a yelp account specifically so that I could write a review for Dr. Drew, because he is so awesome! Dr. Drew is caring, thoughtful, easy going, and committed to ensuring that his patients receive the best dental care possible. I went to see Dr. Drew because I got a crown from another dentist that wasn't properly attached. As a result, the crown had slipped out of place. Dr. Drew was incredibly attentive to my concerns about the crown. He got me into his office on short notice, made sure that I was comfortable during the visit, used x-rays to show me what had happened to my tooth, contacted my former dentists to collect previous x-rays, and took the time to make sure that I understood my treatment options. I'm a student, and don't currently have dental insurance, so Dr. Drew even contacted my former dentist on my behalf, explained the situation, and followed up with an email. As a result of Dr. Drew's advocacy and care, the former dentist has kindly helped pay for a portion of the cost of replacing her faulty crown. I feel incredibly lucky to have found Dr. Drew, and am extremely grateful for his concern for my comfort, his expertise, and his advocacy on my behalf. I highly recommend him! read more
