I cannot recommend Dr. Lee at Mount Hermon Medical Dentist Office highly enough. From my very first conversation with Dr. Lee over the phone, I knew this experience was going to be different. Then, when I arrived at the office and met him in person, that feeling was completely confirmed. Dr. Lee is not only exceptionally knowledgeable and incredibly skilled, but he is also genuinely kind, thoughtful, and passionate about what he does. We ended up having an amazing conversation and discovered so many shared perspectives about food and our passions. It felt like one of those rare moments where everything simply aligned. I truly feel like I found the right dentist at exactly the right time. The entire team deserves recognition as well. Everyone in the office creates such a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. They have a natural way of making conversation that immediately puts you at ease without ever feeling forced. At the same time, they work efficiently and seamlessly together, making the entire visit smooth from beginning to end. The front office staff is incredibly knowledgeable, organized, and on top of everything, making scheduling, questions, and paperwork effortless. During my visit, I had X-rays, a filling, digital scans for a custom mouth guard, and everything was completed the very same day. I had been dealing with a food trap that had been bothering me for a long time, and I wasn't sure I could afford to have it fixed. Thanks to the office's wonderful mouth guard promotion, I was able to get both the mouth guard and the filling taken care of, which was an incredible relief. Dr. Lee is a true craftsman. He approaches dentistry like an artist, paying attention to every detail while making you feel completely comfortable and cared for throughout the process. I honestly never thought I would feel this excited about going to the dentist, but here I am already looking forward to my next appointment. I can say with complete confidence that I have found my dentist for life. I won't be going anywhere else. Can't speak about the doctor as I never made an appointment. I emailed in a few questions from their online firm and received an email back a few hours later. I was surprised that they dint have an online scheduler but decided to call to schedule. Angela answered and I asked when their next appointment was for a new patient. I was told "I'm not able to tell you that now as I'm entering insurance claims and would then need to enter you as a patient to tell you when". Uh what? Sorry to put you out but can't you simply put aside what you're doing for a new patient, skip entering my information, and simply let me know when your next appointment is? Well the answer is no but then I got a "the doctor is very busy and would not be able to see you until at least March". That's cool. I get that you're so busy that you don't need new patients. I would have actually scheduled in March had customer service been a bit more welcoming. read more

I've been going to this office for a number of years. The staff is very friendly and efficient. Dr. Stevens has a wonderful jovial personality that creates a great atmosphere. He takes time with his patients and is a very competent dentist. I actually have two insurance policies and they are willing to work with me on both. After over 30 years of being a patient, I was not informed of the change of my insurance not being taken anymore. I went in for my cleaning and xrays and was charged $414.00 with no knowledge that I had to pay for anything. NO one told me I had to pay for this until AFTER I had my procedure. I was misled and They will not remedy this.Be wary of this folks- they do not communicate very well. They even admitted to me it was their fault I wasn't notified, but they still are making me pay half of it. read more

They do not check dental insurance. I had extremely negative experience with Dr. Stevens's because, even though I have dental insurance, they did not care to confirm the coverage. I was bullied and harrased to pay $600 cash for two cleaning sessions. I was heavily pregnant and we were living in evacuation due to Big Badin fires. I had the same dentist for over 40 years. Even after I moved to Scotts Valley, I continued to drive over the hill for my annual exams and cleanings. I trusted and liked my dentist and his staff that much. But, my dentist finally retired. He sold his practice and I went to the new guy a few times, but I didn't care for it. I felt like the new dentist talked at me instead of with me, and every time I went in there was another fancy new piece of equipment (and he seemed to come up with procedures you "needed" so he could charge more and pay for them). I was done. Time to find a local dentist! First and foremost, thank you to the Yelp community. I researched a lot of dentists, but Dr. Stevens' positive reviews and the detail you offered as the basis for your reviews is what led me to make a new patient appointment with him. I was not disappointed. One thing I appreciated about my long-time dentist was that he was conservative. It was okay to keep an eye on something minor instead of charging in with a "fix." Let's face it, we probably all have a spot where the gum has receded or there's a deep groove in a tooth or there's some minor sensitivity. Does that mean we have to be aggressive and undertake some procedure? Not necessarily. My former dentist would make a note and re-check things next time. Usually, nothing changed and it was no big deal. No big procedures and no big bills. Going to Dr. Stevens for my new-patient appointment, I was nervous. Would he identify every little imperfection in my teeth and want to dive in to drill, fill, crown, or whatever? Thank goodness the answer was no. He was wonderful! Dr. Stevens did a thorough exam and took the same conservative attitude. Nothing is hurting me and nothing truly constitutes a problem. If there is a ridge or a recession, we'll keep an eye on it. It may not change for years. Another thing I appreciate about Dr. Stevens is that he checks your teeth whether you are there for your annual exam or just for a cleaning. That sounds like a little thing, but my husband's dentist doesn't do a check when he is in for a cleaning. I like that Dr. Stevens takes a few minutes to check things out and catch a problem early, if there is one. I also appreciate Dr. Stevens' hygienists. I have always been told that I have good home care and my teeth have very little build up, yet sometimes hygienists still want to scrape really hard or drown you with the water sprayer. Dr. Stevens' hygienists are gentle. If there is a tough spot, I would prefer they gently go over it two or three times, instead of one aggressive time. That is what they do--gentle and return to the spot if needed. Going to the dentist is not a good time, but it doesn't have to be made more uncomfortable or expensive than necessary. I feel like Dr. Stevens is "old school." He is helping you maintain your best possible dental health without being overly aggressive. The same is true of his hygienists. Yes, the office decor is pretty dated, but that doesn't matter. It is about the dental care and the quality of that care, which is top notch. read more

I went here for fillings and cleaning with Dr. Kevin ma and his assistant. He was very gentle, nice, caring, patient, and professional. Before I met Dr.Ma, I was so afraid to go see the dentist but Dr. Ma made me feel comfortable and I'm not afraid to see the dentist anymore. I recently moved to Santa Cruz and needed to find a new Dentist. I found Dr. Stevens through Yelp and I'm happy to say that all of the raving reviews were true. Everyone was very friendly and super welcoming. I made an initial appointment as a new patience that includes some x-rays and a quick consultation. Unfortunately, you have to schedule the actual cleaning for another day, but considering how personable and professional everyone was, I don't mind. Went here for re-filling of old fillings that fell out, and re-sealing of old fillings. John is heavy on the local anesthetic (which I appreciate) and also verbal about each step he is doing (in case you appreciate that, which I also do). He seems to have newer tools/techniques that don't rely on pure "gut feeling" from the dentist, allowing him to take less material out (not heavy handed on the drill). He pays attention to your well-being the whole time, and is thorough. Also has good taste in music around the office. Overall I recommend him. read more

Dr. Stevens is very personable and attentive. The hygienists are all sweet and caring. Best Experience: Shortly after I'd moved to the area, I chipped my front tooth. I was FREAKING out because... well it was a front tooth! Dr. Stevens and his team were very patient and kind, helped me through it even though I was emotional and nervous... and my tooth was fixed flawlessly.
