    Double Basil Hayden
    Daniel C.

After driving 10+ hours, I was exhausted. It made sense to just eat in the resort. I could also get a couple drinks while waiting for our food so it was decided. When I walked in, I sat at the bar. The bartender took her time to help me but when she did, I was able to order a double Basil Hayden neat. I messaged Mink what's on their menu and waited for her reply on what to order. While waiting, she was talking up a storm with the couple sitting next to me. I had to flag her down each time I had a question or wanted to order something. She didn't check on me and even forgot to check on my question on if they offered hot cocoa. I had to remind her which was annoying because the place was not busy. Fortunately her coworker went out of her way to make it for Mink. 5 stars to her coworker and a star bump up for the overall experience. Mink and I decided to share a burger since we were still pretty full from lunch. We ordered their D.W.L. signature Burger medium well with everything on the side and fries extra crispy. The kitchen got the order out in no time and as ordered which impressed us. We thought the burger was ok but it wasn't blow your mind amazing. The fries were quite crispy and we were content with the meal. What I thought was odd was that the bartender gave me my bill when my food came out without asking me if I wanted the check. I also didn't ask for it but since she gave it to me, I decided to go back to the room. Guess I wasn't welcome there. Overall, 2.5 stars. Convenient but meh.

We arrived here after a long day of driving and exploring. It was dark outside and we were frankly very excited to find a restuarant open in the resort. We ordered 2 fried chicken sandwiches with fries and a couple sodas. The service was very fast and friendly, the food was good and arrived quickly, and although it was way too cold to sit outside, it was one of the few restuarants in Arizona that actually allowed social distancing.

Saw a lot of negative review of this place which was a little concerning at first. Since there weren't many restaurants in the area so we tried it out and we were thoroughly impressed. They have a nice indoor space that has waiter service and then you could also do a to go order and eat by the pool. We opted for the latter. For lunch I ordered the burger. It was good and came with fries that were crispy and tasted good. We liked this place enough to come back for dinner. I ordered the wedge salad, pork belly sliders, chicken sandwich and Nutella creme brûlée. All were delicious. The creme brûlée was the best! Also all the waiters & bar tenders were so nice!

2 stars is about right. The food is very mediocre and add in the slow service you get 2 stars instead of 3. People mostly come here for the view and you definitely get a great view of Lake Powell. Fish and chips was very mediocre. It had that fresh out of the previously frozen box flavor. French fries were okay. Caesar salad was okay. Fairly straight forward and cooked well. Service was very slow. Waiter dropped off the dinner menu from the restaurant next door. We waited a bit for him to return and take our orders then he disappeared after dropping off the right menu. Didn't see him again for awhile, meanwhile we went without drinks for a good to 10-15 mins. Food arrived warm but he never came back to refill waters or ask if we needed anything else like another beer. I had to flag him down so we could pay our check and leave. Disappointing experience.

Even with the remodeling of the hotel, the lounge is open during the Winter season with limited dining hours. The lounge was small yet pretty, was placed in the corner with a beautiful view of the outside firepit and super trendy, cool, retractable covering for those desert hot temperatures in the Summer to keep cool. The service was nice, ordered the hot wings which came with celery and carrots, not pricey.

We watched the sun go down over a bottle of wine and three appetizers. Great location overlooking Lake Powell.

I took a short weekend trip to Page and we only had time for one meal. While Page isn't a huge…read moretown, a couple of spots were in contention. We decided on Gone West Family Restaurant based on their solid reviews and we thought that American food (especially with a Western theme) would be the way to go. When in Rome! We stopped by on a Saturday evening for dinner. Parking is easy in the complimentary lot they share with several other businesses including a Chinese restaurant right next door. Ambiance (4.5/5): Pretty much what I was hoping for. Gone West is a spacious restaurant with one large dining room and another large dining room. The difference? The one in the back has a stage where they play live music. So, if you want a quieter atmosphere, choose the first room. If you want to enjoy some live music while you dine and drink, choose the back room. We sat in the back room. A band played various covers while we were there which we enjoyed. The decor is also awesome with a lot of Western and country decor including John Wayne, Johnny Cash, and more. Service (4/5): The hostess was super nice and accommodating which was a nice way to kick off the experience. Our waiter was pretty solid. He could have stopped by a little more frequently, but overall, did quite well. Drinks (4/5): I went with an Arnold Palmer (they only had pink lemonade unfortunately) so not a lot to right home about. With that being said, they have a decent beer list and several cocktails. Food (5/5): I went with the Chicken fried steak sandwich with spiral fries. CFS on a sandwich?! I couldn't say no. Country fried steak is one of my favorite Southern dishes, but I've never had it on a sandwich before. Check out their concept: breaded steak on a bed of mashed potatoes topped with green onions, gravy, and a fried egg with your choice of side. This was a great sammie! It was quite messy, but given how delicious it was, I didn't mind. The fries were delicious too, and it was a generous portion. The type of portion where you can easily have leftovers. Everything I was hoping for and more in this dining experience. While the food options in Page aren't vast (and as impressive as larger cities), Gone West should be at the top of your list!

It was an experience for sure! Just not the best. The menu on the website lists a number of steak options. None of these were on the menu we were presented. When we asked about the lack of steak we were told that the restaurant no longer has a head cook who can handle steak. The place is divey with a fly issue. The food was Denny style so and passable at best. . Our bill was almost $50 with tip for pulled pork sandwich which was on the chunky side and not shredded. I had the patty melt with sweet potato fries. Ok can't mess that up. Once served the cook in the back had a huge coughing fit which was turning my stomach, Boxed up my leftovers which is undetermined whether I will eat. Got the heck out of dodge. I'm sure at one point this place was popular. I would love to see them return to their glory days, but perhaps not anytime soon. Sad! I might add we drove from Page, AZ so almost an hour drive. Very hungry and not many choices we chose to give it a shot.

Nothing that really stood out. The wood fired pizza was undercooked. My husband had the buffet and said the line rib and wings were good but the rest, eh... Service was ok, though not especially memorable. We had a coupon we forgot to give the server before she rang it up and she wouldn't re-ring the sale and give us the discount. Disappointing. Would I stop again? For the scenery, probably. It's worth grabbing a table just to soak in those incredible lake views. Incredible ambience, starting with parking up top and being driven down in one of the many motorized carts they have running 24/7. The views are breathtaking!!! But the important part that we need to get to-food and service. We went twice. Each time, great servers! Ruby and Autumn were attentive without being overbearing. Our food came out quickly. Night one, we had the flank steak with some fancy espresso cheese and hot honey, gyros, and the sliders. Second visit for lunch, we had the fish tacos, a Caesar salad with steak, and (my favorite!!!) the blackberry steak salad with goat cheese and all kinds of deliciousness. There were things that I would probably take a star off for--but not from the restaurant. The restrooms are outside the restaurant, and for a place that's pretty dang high end, one would expect that they would have been cleaned at least once during the day and toilet paper refilled instead of sitting in the stall on the floor (first visit) or stuffed in with the toilet seat covers (second visit). I did ask about it, and apparently there is a cleaning crew that takes care of that and they aren't affiliated with the restaurant at all--so definitely not going to hold it against the restaurant! Go. Get some of Jaden's specialty cocktails and that blackberry steak salad. Then take a boat tour of the lake and enjoy some incredible views. You won't regret it!!!
